    Docket number: 2022-CFPB-0008

On September 28, 2022, the business entered into a consent agreement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB ordered Regions Bank to pay $50 million into the CFPB’s victims relief fund and to refund at least $141 million to customers harmed by surprise overdraft fees. From August 2018 through July 2021, Regions charged customers surprise overdraft fees on certain ATM withdrawals and debit card purchases. The bank charged overdraft fees even after telling consumers they had sufficient funds at the time of the transactions.  For more details go to:

I am submitting a complaint to Regions regarding some fees that were assessed to my savings account. Basically, I went to a branch today and was told I needed to speak with branch manager regarding my concern. I did that but did not get full resolution I was seeking. When I opened my accounts with **********************, I was never told about an "Excessive Item Fee" which from what I'm told now is when more than three withdrawals are done from savings within a month time frame. However, I was completely unaware of that. If I would have known about that, I would not have exceeded that limit within a month time frame. I was told today from someone at the branch.. that is a federal government regulation. However, again I was unaware of this. Therefore, I was told to speak with branch manager and they could help me get those fees back. I was later called by phone and told they could only go back three months on the fees which was only $9 refund. I was initially told in the branch, they could retrieve all the fees which went back to January 2024 which was a total of $22. I only received $9 back today. I am filing this complaint because I am requesting somebody from Regions to assist me in getting back the $13 I am missing from all the fees. I was completely unaware of being assessed fees associated with withdrawals from saving account. It was not intentional and I do need my money back. If I would have known, I would not have exceeded the limit of withdrawals.

My experience dealing with Regions bank recently, ****************** misrepresented, a material fact insinuating that my grandson who was with me that day, made comments about investing in crypto currency. When in fact what she did with this lie was an attempt to cover her tracks in her interaction with me and my family. she was unprofessional, rude and victimizing while interacting with me. she used lines of suggestive questioning in an attempt to get me to falsely admit to actions that were not being conducted. When I made her aware, she only became more belligerent and aggressive. My grandson then requested the name of her supervisor, which made her very angry. This is the reason I believe she flagged the account and made those false allegations. To be a distraction against her conduct when dealing with me and my family when we attempted to conduct business at your East point ATL, ** branch location. *********************************** conducted himself similarly to ******************. He accused me of being taken advantage of and scammed (his words), I refuted his assumption. He was steadfast in his pursuit to get a false confession using ****** technique and other bullying tactics. When I explained that I was a part of the trust, he over-talked me and attempted to put words into my mouth. I was very confused as to why he was making certain insinuation. No prior flags were raised until I came to the ****************** which seems to have been placed near low-income neighborhoods. I believe this location stereotyped me for what they may be used to dealing with, which was a grave mistake. After I made *********************************** aware that I was not being taken advantage of nor scammed, he still took it upon himself to declare that he still believes I am being scammed. This is a complete overreach outside of his jurisdiction as a representative of a bank. This interrogation against a black woman over 70 years old was also a major violation of my privacy.Sincerely,****************
