Received an old check from December 2023 the week of May 9, 2024. My **** chose to accept it, due to the fact it was within 180 days to cash it. I received a letter from. my **** of ****** of Returned Deposit item. Dated May 20, 2024 , I received the letter on May 29th I got a $15 fee from my **** because of this. I've made phone calls and sent the ****************** an email on May 31st with full details requesting that they reissue my check and reimburse me the fees I incurred on my account. I haven't received any response to my email or phone calls from anyone there. I went to the employer's **** from a suggestion from representative of my **** to see if they would honor the legal copy of my check. Was told it could be used the same way you would the original check. And I wouldn't incur a $15 fee from that ****. I went there, but they couldn't cash it. The clerk recommended that I request a reissuance of the check.Initial Complaint

On April 16, 2024 I went into the store because the signs in the windows said everything was on sale due to the store closing. When I went to pay and afterward got out to the car and inspected the reciept, I noticed that various items were still rung up at 99 cents and others were charged at more than 1 dollar, I have shopped at this particuliar store for many years and it has always been the policy that if an item has no other price on it then it is 99 cents. 3 of my items that were not priced at any other price were rang up for $1.40. Why would they advertise in every window of the store that the whole store was on sale then when you check out you are charge either regular price or more than the regular price. I feel that the store falsely advertised in this way and are giving other stores that really do discount their items a bad name. And it is very unprofessional to advertise that the whole store is 30 % OFF then to go ahead and charge the consumer full price of the object. I even went back to re read the advertised signs and I had read it correctly the first time. I don't feel that I should be taken advantage in this way just because a store happens to be going out of business. Regardless of the total amount of what I was over charged it is more a matter of principle that when you advertise that something is on sale then you should honor that advertised price and not try to get over on the consumers, just because you feel that many will not even look twice at the reciept so they will never realize that they were taken advantage of.Initial Complaint

I went to the 99 Cent Only store in **************** ** on 9/9/23 to advantage of the advertisement of items from their store application. I purchase various other items that were being advertised on the app that day. The item in question was for the 12 pack of 16oz **** bottle waters for 99cents. The advertisement did not specify there was a limit you could purchase as well. I went to purchase 6 cases of the water only to be told that the waters were 99 cents each. I informed and showed the store employee that is not what the app showed. Still would not honor the price and informed me that I would have to call their corporate office for resolution. I called while I was at the location and left a message as no one answered. Days went by and I called a few more times still without any response. I finally sent a email and attached the screen shot of their advertisement and finally on 9/19/23 I got a response and they apologized for the inconvenience and offered to send me a gift card for the trouble. I followed back up with asking what was the amount of the gift card and when should I expect to receive it. I have not received any response from them since. I have reached out few more times since and my last response indicated that if I do not hear back from them I will escalate the complaint. This is why I am submitting this complaint with the BBB. As this is false advertisement and depending on how they handle the issue will determine how or if I proceed from here.Initial Complaint

As a person with many physical injury bankrupted and limited disabilit benefit, i carry a rolling bag to make groicery purchases..the security does not allow me to enter 99cents store with my personal bag and demand it to be left by door with no receipt or safe guarding promise of its content or return after purchase..so that i could loose mybag the medicine clothes or drinking water,phone inside my bag as security claims that he has top walk-way guarding people bag by door and no one can enter the store with their personal rolling bag *******************Initial Complaint

The date the transaction was made on was August 16. I was making a purchase last night and the cashiers name was *****. She racially discriminated against myself and my four children. She put another family ahead of us in line and she told us that we can wait and when I started to question why we had to wait, she said she wasnt gonna be able to make my transaction, the security guard even asked to help and she told him that I could wait so I had to go to another line to make my transaction due to myself and my kids, racial background and color of our skin I ask for a manager. Stopped working there May.19,2023 for many personal reasons. I applied for Medical and food stamps through the state shortly after. The state needs my income for 2023, a letter stating I do not work there since May.19,2023. Which they will not provide nor will they give me my own income they are withholding. I've been trying for about 2 months and get nowhere with the store manager *************************. The name of the business is 99 cent ONLY store, but sell numerous things that are not 99 cents. If they're going to sell items for more than 99 cents, then they should change the name. That's false advertising. It's the name of the store... They have it on the walls, etc.
