    Pattern of Complaint:
Complainants generally allege problems with canceling services. Several explain that they receive a free trial offer from the business, but have difficulty or are unable to cancel the services before the free trial offer is up.

The company generally responds by explaining that the complainant signed a twelve month contract and cannot cancel the contract.

BBB believes these complaints contain a pattern of allegations and contacted the business on October 15, 2015, We requested the company provide to us steps that it is taking to eliminate the underlying cause of complaints, if any. The company responded on October 20, 2015, indicating that, in the case of consumers filing complaints about not being able to cancel their contracts, the company believes these consumers are attempting to get out of their twelve month contracts and that in order for a customer to complete their subscription they are required to fill out an electronic order form which requires acknowledgement of the terms and conditions of the contract. The company also explained that their sales representatives clearly explain to all customers that they are entering a twelve month commitment. BBB followed up with the company on October 22, 2015 and November 4, 2015, requesting that they provide us with the steps they plan to take to prevent these allegations from reoccurring. As of today's date, we have not received a response to that request.

I was able to connect with ****** via phone call, on Monday 5/20/2024.  We aligned on adjusting his ALLDATA subscription products, based on his business needs.  I also offered to provide ****** with a one-time accommodation credit towards his ALLDATA subscription - he accepted and was satisfied.  Following the finalization of adjustments and credit towards his ALLDATA subscription, on Wednesday 5/22/24, I sent a summarized email to e-mail addresses ****************************** and ***************************.

Company offers a program that does not cover all parts of vehicle. Since they do not offer it they want you to call in to there library and they will look into the information. I pay for a product that works not to sit around since the information is not on the site. Do to this leads to a back up in vehicles. When you call in for customer service no one will answer. Finally when you get someone on the phone they want to offer training. I don't have time to waste on a program that does not work.

*** Automotive used Alldata for over 20 years to provide automotive repair information, from their early days supplying the information on CD's, DVD's, and finally online. At the end of 2022, *** Automotive was closed, and Alldata notified by phone to close the account. For 8 months everything was good, then Alldata began sending monthly bills on the closed account continuing through the present date.As they are probably aware, the business phone was disconnected, mail is no longer forwarded, so I have been receiving billing notices by email. I have no intention of paying these bills on a closed account and have registered a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Should I continue to receive billing on this closed account, I will present my grievance in a more public forum.

We sincerely apologize for the continued billing after a cancellation request had been made. Our support team has made the correction in our system by cancelling the account.

I purchased a year subscription to this software under the PREMISE I had some time to VERIFY if its adequate, since the agent I was supposed to get a virtual tour with told me Porsche has ONLY 30% data shared on system it may not be helpful. I immediately asked for refund, and was dodged for weeks about a changing made up "return policy" and I had complied, requested contact and refunds within TIMEFRAME, and continuous ignored emails come back saying there IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTACT Besides EMAIL ...THIS WAS WELL WITHIN THE TIMEFRAME AND THERES NO REASON WHY I SHOULDNT HAVE HAVE A SINGLE PERSON WILLING TO RESPOND IN ANY MORE PROFESSIONAL MANNER THAN TAKE MONEY AND RUN KNOWING ANY DELAY* IN* ATTEMPTED* RESOLUTION* IS SELF MANAFESTED BY ALLDATAS POOR INTEGRITY AND SPARSE INTERNAL STANDARDS.

We made over 10 attempts to reach out the customer including the phone and email on file... Customer had used the product over 42 times and signed a contract...  We did our due diligence as a company to reach out to this customer and did not receive a call back

      Customer response

      12/27/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

Alldata is lying, I have not used 42 times the product like they said. I only used it once. I hope they have proof that I used it that much.

They have not made any attempt to reach me by e-mail to resolve this matter.

By e-mail they are only sending me invoices. I told them long distance call are blocked.

If they need to reach me will be by e-mail.

Alldata representative *************** solicited my business for almost 3 months as I was having problems with my other program *** had assured me that I could try the program and it wouldn't be a big deal and I could cancel it at any time. I asked him to let me use it and he told me it wouldn't be a problem the sun over the email and the price that he quoted me was $55 higher than what we had talked about. I told him that never mind I didn't want it it wasn't worth it when he came immediately to my shop telling me that he could fix it and we can get the price that I wanted. I told him that this is becoming more than a hassle than I wanted he said it wouldn't be a problem just give it a shot there's no payment now if you don't want it just don't pay for it and you can cancel it. I was having trouble with the email so he came around to my computer and the next thing you know it was loaded and on my computer we proceeded to look at the program and while he couldn't help me set it up the account manager ***** had to help so we got in touch with her. After they set up the account I was going through how it works and realized that it was really not a manager's program to keep track of my company's information it was just an invoicing program you couldn't adjust things by margins you couldn't give discounts by percentages and the only report you could run were sales tax reports. At this point I told him that I was not interested in the program. *** said not a problem the next thing I know I received an invoice I called about the invoice and canceling and they told me that I was in a contract and there's nothing that I can do and I have to pay for the next year. They tried to offer me several things to try to satisfy me which I told them this bait and switch and whoever put this on my computer isn't how to do business and I don't want to do business with their company at this point they tell me that I am stuck and I have to pay for a yesr

About a week ago I subscribed to AllData. It has been a huge disappointment. Their website is horribly maintained. Much of their data is missing/incomplete/inaccurate. More often than not, I cannot find what I need. Their excuse has been to fill out a "library request" but it is not practical to have to do that constantly, and even that feature doesn't work well. AllData coerces customers into remaining with them for a year. If they had a quality service (they don't), they wouldn't need to twist people's arms. And it's a terrible business model. If someone says, "Your service is not what I expected it to be, cancel my subscription", they should say, "Ok. We hope you choose to come back one day". But trying to force people just makes them look bad. Nobody likes corporate rigidness these days.AllData needs a MAJOR overhaul to their website and database if they want any hope of remaining relevant.

On or about June 13th I was solicited at my business X-Gen ****** ******* by ***** a representative of AllData, who told me they were having a promotion no money to start and $99 a month for the first 3 months and then it would be $189 a month. I asked him what if I decide I don't want it? ***** assured me he'd get me out of the contract, he said he just needed me to sign a contract. If I recall I was too busy so he asked if he could call tomorrow, we set a time but I again found myself too busy to deal with it. After a couple days he text me and asked if I was still willing to check it out, told him I just didn't have time to sign anything since I was out in the field. ***** said he would sign the contract on my behalf and send me a copy. I recall receiving my login information and eventually logging in to check it out, ***** kept asking if I had so I found a moment, after a couple days I knew it wasn't for me and that it was an expense not justified in my business plus I found the service to be severely lacking. I contacted AllData and they had someone named ****** who I guess is the manager in some capacity call me back, I told her I wanted to cancel and that she can see I haven't logged into their service more than a couple times. I didn't want anyone to think I was taking advantage and using the service everyday and now I wanted my money back or to discontinue service. I legitimately tried it and didn't want it. ****** finally said she would change the account to not continue billing and I thought the matter was resolved. However the following month I received an invoice, I reached out to AllData billing and was told I shouldn't receive any further bills. But it kept coming so I filed a complaint and ****** called me in a conference call with ***** who admitted he told me he would cancel the contract but ****** refused to do so. At this present moment AllData offers a free trial, yet they can't consider that and release me from this contract? Misleading

      Business response

      11/08/2023

We apologize for the negative experience. The account manager has reached out to ******* to try to resolve the issue, however he did sign a contract for a 1-year commitment. Our account management team has shared and reviewed the signed contract with the customer. We did offer additional training and support to improve his experience.

      Customer response

      11/09/2023

I am rejecting this response because: This response, like ****** glosses over the fact that ***** told me if I wasn't happy with the service to let him know and he'd take care of it. Supposedly they record all their calls so it should not be too difficult to verify. Second, they continue to say I signed a contract yet I never did. Their employee signed it, I've never signed anything and haven't even seen this contract. What business,  especially one who solicited me even though my numbers on the "Do not call register" would force a customer to continue using a product they're unsatisfied with?  It's my fault that I believed their employee who fraudulently signed contracts and assured me if I didn't like it he'd do something? In my own business my ratings speak for themselves,  I don't have a single rating less than 5 stars on ****** and that's because no matter what I want the customer to be satisfied.  Even if that means no profit, the alternative is bad word of mouth which spreads quickly. AllData is owned by Auto Zone, whom I have an account and this influences my decision on where to purchase parts. Is it necessary for me to contact them and file a complaint? These aren't threats, I'm simply asking is it worth it for all the negative publicity to just let your customer return an item he's unsatisfied with? I haven't even logged into the service in months.
