I was attempting to make an inquiry about receiving help with a tax problem. This company called me, responding to my email. After listening to the marketing spill, I thought every thing appeared on the up and up. However, after I asked them to send me everything in writing and once reviewing the paper work, I canceled or rescinded the offer. I immediately sent in writing the same day I gave them my debit card information to cancel any and all agreements between me and them. They stated they would cancel, but days later the $541.00 was taken from my bank account. When I could not get any answers directly from the company, I called my bank and the bank canceled my debit card so that no other recurring charges would be taken from my account from STOP IRS. Since that time, I have been trying to get my $541.00 back from them by working through my bank and contacting the company STOP IRS. Neither has worked in my favor. My bank has a 120 days policy to work with trying to collect the funds. My bank continues to reach out to STOP IRS, but they have not heard back from them. This is a fraudulent company, this is a shame that scams are allowed to continue to be up and running companies to take people's money. This is with regard to ********. All of this was completed by email.

In 2017 we signed up with Stop IRS Debt to help us get a reduction of our federal income tax debt and the State of Hawaii tax debt. Over the course of the first year we paid them in full, ******** for their services. We sent every document they requested. They have a customer portal that we could log into to check status. Nothing was happening. We started calling and emailing to no avail. They put us on hold and after waiting 20-30 minutes each time they would disconnect or we would have to disconnect. We finally connected with a person named ******* in early 2019. She talked loud and long and wouldn't let us speak, telling us she didn't have to put up with us. We begged to know if we even had a case manager. She wouldn't tell us. We got an email in June 2021 telling us the Compliance Manager ( no name) was in charge of our case and to call. We did. Again 20 and 30 minutes on hold and they never answered. I scheduled a call with them and just spoke to Beth ******** who claims to be the Compliance Manager. She stated that they closed our account in 2019 because they claim we did not send requested documents. We sent everything they requested in the first 2 years. When I tried to reiterate the documents we sent, she said "You're a joke!" She kept saying it over and over then hung up. They're completely in breach of contract and we would like our money back. They did nothing. We still owe the IRS approximately ********* and are trying to settle it ourselves. Please help us get our ******** back from them. We no longer have the necessary docs because they have them. They wouldn't take copies.

      Business response

      02/08/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/01/05) */ We worked on the clients' IRS and State cases in XXXX - XXXX. We did receive documents and analyze transcripts. We were able to establish a payment plan for $82 per month. We informed the client that 2017 was missing and IRS would not complete any resolution without the client being fully being compliant with their filings. We requested 2017 for 8 months and upon it not being received we placed a hold on the account and informed the client. As for documentation, we do not original documents. The client emailed PDF's of financials which would not be relevant today to resolve any IRS issue. As per the contract the client must furnish us with requested documents within 30 days. We gave the client multiple months to provide and they did not. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/01/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) They received copies of everything requested, including the 2017 documents. With every inquirey, we responded. The problem was that they chose to rarely ever respond to us and when we would call they would place us on hold for 30 minutes at a time. We rarely were able to receive communication from them. We hired them to be our advocate to the IRS but we were constantly after them to find out if there was any progress on our account. Which there was not. The only step they took that we new of was signing our Power of Attorney to act on our behalf. We verified that much with the IRS directly, also verifying that no other correspondence between STopIRSDebt.com and the IRS took place after that point. We could have accomplished what they did on our own at no cost to us. We resolved the state tax issue with Hawaii on our own since they never bothered to do anything about it. And according to the IRS they have done nothing for us. We have the correspondence by email showing their lack of progress. The payment plan was paid in full exactly on time, with them having to reimburse us $1800.00 because they chose not to recognize full payment. It took extensive arguments and proof, which was provided, to get that portion reimbursed. Since the pandemic began we have tried and tried to get in contact with them, to absolutely no avail. Staying on hold for 30 minutes and more is untenable when a person is employed and can't keep taking breaks to call them. We are currently making arrangements with the IRS ourselves to resolve our tax debt. Given that StopIRSDebt.com completely failed to act, we demand full reimbursal of the $3800.00 they were paid to act on our behalf. Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2022/01/24) */ 2017 1040 was never provided. All emails have been re-evaluated and nothing for 2017 was ever attached. All emails from us and phone calls indicate requesting this return repeatedly. The case was placed in stop work due to this in 2019. On 8/24/19 we emailed the client requesting 2017. On 8/27/19 we text/emailed that we have been trying to get in touch with you regarding documents. On 8/28/19 client spoke to Manager and was informed about being in stop work due to the 2017 return. Client stated would send the following day. Nothing was received. Between then and January 6, 2020 (over 4 months later) no email with 2017 was received, instead the client emailed for an update. We called and emailed the client the following day remonding them about the 2017 return and how to send it. On January 31, 2020 the client emails again for an update so we called and informed we still do not have the 2017 return and they are still in stop work. March 16, 2020 we emailed client to please call us regarding their case. No response. On September 30, 2020 client emailed asking for contact. We responed on Oct. 1st with a phone call, email and text message. On October 8th we spoke to the client informing them their case is still in stop work as it has been over a year and we did not have their 2017. We informed them they would need to speak to the Compliance Manager and the manager was not available at that moment. The client proceeded to yell obscenities at the staff. November 10, 2020 COmpliance Manager called client and left a message. 4/11/2021 the client states they are going to the Attorney General and done with us. 11/17/2021 the client submitted emails and tickets wanting to speak to someone. A Case Manager called the client and she began to yell obscenities at the employee. A manager got on the line with her and went over all the information mentioned here and she began to yell obscenitis at this employeee as well. To date no 2017 was ever submitted and the case is closed. As per the contract no refund will be given.

I hired StopIRSDebt.com in 2018 to help me get the IRS to credit my account with monies that had already been paid, and to help remove fees and penalties. StopIRSDebt.com assured me they could do this, asked me to sign a power of attorney form (which I did) and charged me $*****. StopIRSDebt.com told me they had set up a payment plan, and I have been sending in monthly payments according to their instructions since the Fall of 2020. This August (2021), I received a threatening letter from the IRS, which alerted me to the fact that the IRS was not aware of this payment plan -- something I confirmed by talking to them. StopIRSDebt.com now says that they have negotiated a new payment plan on my behalf and that they will email me the paperwork but I have not received it. I have NO paperwork from StopIRSDebt.com documenting how my payments have been applied and what they have done on my behalf. I want a refund of the $***** fee and I want others to beware before losing time and money.

      Business response

      11/29/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2021/10/14) */ We spoke to the IRS on January 15, 2021 Agent Mr.******* ID# **********. This is when the installment agreement was established. We then spoke to the IRS on September 15, 2021 to discuss the letter that was received and spoke to Agent Ms. ****** ID# **********. At this time we established the Installment Agreement again but at an even lower amount. We spoke to the client about submitting Penalty Abatements to remove penalties and interest on penalties. Consumer Response /* (****, 9, 2021/10/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The original reason I contacted STOP IRS was because the IRS held money we had overpaid in a past tax year and then kept the funds because we ostensibly did not file our return within the time period required. I understood that we had a tax bill to pay but I wanted the credit from th previous year to be applied. I provided them with a letter I receivd from the IRS stating the dates we needed to have filed our tax return to receive a credit. The time period occurred during the 2017 wildfires in our area. We were prevented from filing as we were nomads, prevented by the Fire Department and Highway Patrol from acessing our home. Most businesses were closed as well, I had made a report in the FEMA office to the State of California and to the IRS. The State of California refunded our overpayment, The IRS DID NOT. This was the situation I was seeking help with. At no time did STOP IRS help me in this matter. Over the next two years (after I had paid them $****) I dealt with multiple agents. I responded to every request for information Then they came up with this payment plan and said that only then could they start to address the original problem. I paid $**** to the IRS over a one year period. Still I received no word about crediting the oriiginal overpayment. Then I received threatening letters from the IRS this past spring. I notified STOP IRS and dealt with a new set of agents. Now I have a new payment plan but thousands of dollara in penalties! And still no word on my request to credit the moniea from the previous tax year. This organization is long on promises and short on information. They seldpm commit themselves in writing. They take no responsibility for mistakes made. They say one thing but then produce NO-thing. Their reply to my original post states only what they did do and gives no context or rationale for what they did not. Why was the original payment plan not applicable? Why have no penalties been "abated" ?What happened to our overpayment? Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2021/11/09) */ We absoutely would like to address all of your questions and concerns. We simply provided a response to your previous complaint. As this secondary responses addresses a secondary issue I will gladly explain. As you stated you wanted a previous tax credit to be applid to your debt but you unfortunately missed the deadline to have it applied. This is completly true and the IRS will not extend the statute date. We can however use this explanation for the penalty abatement to forammly request the penalties and interest on penalties be removed. We previously emailed you request for statement to submit this request but did not receive a response back. We understand that you may not be happy with the fact that the credit expired but no company can extend the filing requirement date past the three years. We as a company work hard to make each client happy. As you can see we have set up not one but two installment agreements for you and would still like to move forward with the Penatly abatement request. Please contact our office directly so we an proceed.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/10/14) */ Documents, can be emailed, uploaded to portal, mailed or faxed. We spent multiple months trying to reach the client. We would be happy to finish the case, but the client has to be responsive and provided required documents. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/10/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Because they only attempted to reach me to ask for money. I have paid them in full with on return service. My case should already be settled with the irs. I want a refund they have over **** $ of money and the only thing they did was do my 2019 taxes which they told me was 200$. These people have been impossible to reach. Everything is not about covid-19 when they are taking your money. Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2021/11/09) */ We have live chat availiable from 6am pst - 6pm pst. We also have where clients are able to schedule a call. Our phone lines are open the same hours. If the client spoke to accounting they could be transferred to a case manager to speak. No refund is warranted at this time and the client needs to reach out to us so we can finish their case. Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2021/11/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The chat line can not give you information about your case. If you try calling you are on hold and then disconnected. The time this company reached out to me is when they need money. I can print off emails and get my phone records of how many times I tried calling them with no response. They did my 2019 taxes and then stated they did not have a signed copy but sent a copy to IRS and signature was there.

CLient then decided she wished to cancel upon speaking to a Manager. The client paid $**** not $****. We are more than happy to make the adjustments to the client's bill.

I hired Stop IRS Debt spring of 2020 to help us with debt we had with the IRS. I paid them $****. I've done everything they've asked me to do, sent them any paperwork they needed. In December they told me they were going to file a penalty abatement with the IRS and told me what I needed to do & to pay the IRS the following 3 months my old payment plan amount. In order to file that I had to make those 3 payments. It is now almost September of 2021, I'm still making my original payments to the IRS and have no answers to the penalty abatement or solution to my original problem. The purpose in hiring them and paying them $**** was to get me out of my debt, and because I cannot afford to keep paying the IRS monthly. I've emailed, I've left messages, no one EVER calls me back, even when promised I will get a call back. At this point, I want my money back or an explanation of what is going on with this case so I can end this mess.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/10/04) */ The processing time for the Penalty Abatement can be frustraiting especially during this time. Due to COVID the IRS was very backlogged with these processes. We re-submitted to a Manager for approval. A letter will be mailed with the determination. Consumer Response /* (3000, 15, 2021/11/09) */ I have been paying on my IRS account for almost a year waiting on a resolution to this and have not heard anything still. I understand the IRS is backlogged, but I'm continuing to pay a monthly fee to them of almost $200 that is very hard for me to pay. I completely understand it takes time, and while I appreciate that it was resubmitted, I'm concerned it's going to take another year from the date it was resubmitted. Business Response /* (4000, 17, 2021/11/23) */ We understand your concern. The abatement will be on the total penalties. It should not take a year by any means. Consumer Response /* (4200, 19, 2021/12/03) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Their response makes zero sense. I've already been waiting a year!! In January it will be one year that I originally filed for the penalty and abatement. I shouldn't still be waiting on a decision. The purpose of me hiring this company was to get out of having to continue to pay more than I feel I owe.

in June of 2020 we were contacted by *** of stop IRS tax solutions to resolve our tax issue with the IRS. We had a tax arrangement with the IRS for **** previously that was being paid onetime to the IRS per the agreement we made. *** told us that with stopirs they would reduce our tax settlement significantly by removing late penalties & interest aswell as coming up with a lower monthly plan and settlement. After time there was no followup-from Stop IRS -they would only call us to receive payment. *** told that they would place a retainer with the irs so that penalties would no longer accrue while they were working our case. we later investigated to find that the penalties were accumulating and now the IRS is asking for a higher monthly payment of *** per month as well as a lean could be put in place due to the time without a payment. Aftwer a year Stop they told us that we now have a hire payment and and lean could placed if we can pay a lump some ****** or payment plan of *****
