I wake up to text messages blowing my phone up at 1:44am regarding loans Ive allegedly applied for. Check my email, and theres 14 emails regarding loan applications. All of them say it was done by QuinStreet. Ive NEVER applied for a loan through this company. I wouldnt be up at 1:44 in the morning doing so anyway. My phone would not stop pinging. Highly upset that my information has been sold somewhere and loans are being applied for. Ive never heard of these companies either. Piece of trash company selling information.

I received an email stating that I applied for a loan with NetCredit, they have an account number for me as well and I have never created an account or ever contacted this company. The application was submitted through ***********. I have never applied for a loan through this company so I don't know how they have gotten my information, the representative that I spoke with at NetCredit stated that there is a different email address attached to the account number that was in the email I received. My name and address as well as my email all match in the email I have received though. I would like all any information that this company has regarding me deleted out of their system and any credit information corrected, meaning any inquiries etc and i want my social security number blocked from ever being used.

There have been multiple times where I have been harassed by companies calling and texting me non stop about inquiries that have fraudulently been put in for bathroom remodels and roof replacements. They all tell me their leads come from Quinstreet. The information is all the same, my name is slightly misspelled, email address is wrong but address and phone number are correct. Why is Quinstreet fraudulently selling my personal information so I can be harassed?

These jerks called me over and over again after I told them to stop. I am on the do not call list, and I have already informed the DO NOT CALL service of their transgressions. I have also found out that it is 500 dollars a pop to keep calling someone who tells a business to stop.

We are sorry this consumer has received unwanted calls and will be happy to add them to our Do Not Call list. QuinStreet businesses contact consumers when they or their agents complete online forms asking to match with various service providers. We match individuals with insurers, credit card companies, home service providers, personal loan providers and more. Our TCPA compliant language informs consumers that by submitting their request, they may receive calls, emails or texts. Because the form submission is a direct request for contact, it supersedes any registration on a national Do Not Call list. But, we are always happy to accommodate those who prefer not to receive our calls. Please contact QuinStreet directly to let us know which phone number should be added to our list.

It has recently come to my attention that Quinstreet some how obtained my personal information to fraudulently apply for a personal loan with ****************** They have since then sold this information which has been used to fraudulently open multiple accounts with a multitude of credit card and personal loan companies. I have filed a police report and reported this information to the credit bureaus as well as the social security administration.

      Business response

      04/19/2024

We are unable to find a consumer who matches the email or phone number in this complaint. We located one instance in 2021 where someone with the same name matched with a loan provider, but we did not contact that consumer.

QuinStreet does not complete loan or credit card applications for consumers; the companys subsidiary, AmONE, does connect people seeking loans with loan providers, when requested. Its possible that this consumer or her agent may have submitted a request to match with a personal loan provider using different contact information than what is listed here.

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not apply for any line of credit with any institution. After contacting several different institutions regarding several hard inquiries that had been made on my credit report and tracing those inquiries back to when my personal information had first been shared without my knowledge, I was told by the first of those institutions that they had received my information directly from this company. Therefore, I am compelled to believe that this company is the primary source that lead to the theft of my identity.

Same thing as another complaint on 6-9-23 (********). Inundated with phone calls from home improvement companies claiming I filled out information online requesting interest in bathroom renovation, or other home improvement. I have never heard of or used or contacted this company. I have never requested a quote for home improvement. QuinStreet is setting up accounts on ***************** websites where people respond to research surveys to receive compensation, such as ************************** The method QuinStreet obtains this information is deceptive & fraudulent.QuinStreet is also ripping off contractors by selling this information at a premium price representing the leads are actually someone interested in the services they represent. Companies buying "qualified" leads in these industries are being ripped off to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The practice of obtaining leads in this manor needs to stop!

I also NEVER fill out forms on websites before contacting a business, or having done business before. I also use codes within my info to identify where my info is used or sold.

Quin Street obtained my info illegally without my consent, sold it at a premium to businesses as a qualified sales lead thereby cheating businesses for charging for erroneous non interested sales leads.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the services provided by Quinstreet. On May 24, I visited RoofingCosts.org with the intention of requesting roofing contractors to replace my roof. Unfortunately, I encountered several issues during this process that have left me frustrated and concerned.Firstly, without my consent, Quinstreet set up an Angi's List Roofing Project on my behalf under my ****'s List account. However, this project fails to mention that it was created by RoofingCosts.org, creating confusion and misrepresentation. As a result of this project, I received contacts from five different contractors. While three of these contractors were appropriately listed under the Angi's List project, two of them were not. To my surprise, these unlisted contractors were **********-based roofing contractors. Despite my initial interest in one of these contractors, I later discovered that they were not licensed to work within my jurisdiction. This situation highlights a major concern for individuals who have limited experience working with contractors. It is incredibly challenging to determine whether a contractor is properly licensed to operate within a specific jurisdiction. The salesperson for the ********** contractor even presented a ************** Certificate, claiming that it allowed them to conduct roofing business within **************. However, it became apparent that a Suffolk County Home Improvement License was required for work in my jurisdiction. My dissatisfaction extends to Quinstreet's lack of transparency in their contractor matching process. It is evident that Quinstreet does not adequately vet contractors to ensure they possess the necessary licenses for the jurisdictions in which they operate. When I contacted ****'s List regarding the issue, a representative informed me that the ********** contractor did not even list my zip code as an area they service.

      Business response

      07/11/2023

We are sorry to hear that your recent roofing matching process didn't work out as well as hoped. Answers to your questions are provided here:QuinStreet matches homeowners with contractors based on a proprietary algorithm that factors in the consumers project needs and professionals in their area who have experience and availability to complete the desired work in the consumer's zip code. Our Modernize **** Services subsidiary is one of the most common ways that homeowners locate contractors, although the company also helps homeowners find contractors through other owned and operated websites and through some partnership arrangements, such as with ****. Note: all owned and affiliated websites that we use to help consumers match with contractors contain Telephone Consumer Protection Act compliant language that explains: by submitting your inquiry, you agree to authorize email and phone calls to discuss your project. It is not always possible to locate home service professionals within a homeowners zipcode, and in those instances, we strive to find contractors as close to the consumers location as possible.Licensing requirements vary by state and licensing status can change at any time. We recommend that homeowners verify a selected contractors license is appropriate before scheduling a project start date. We hope that this information is helpful and apologize that you were not pleased with the process this time.

      Complaint: 20292288

Thank you for your response. I understand that RoofingCosts.org serves
as a portal to *****'s List, but I'm interested in learning more about
how the website obtains referrals beyond that. Could you please provide
additional information on other ways the website generates referrals?
      Sincerely,

      *************************

      Business response

      07/18/2023

To clarify: RoofingCosts.org isn't exactly a portal to *****; when a homeowner asks to match with a contractor, we sometimes provide ***** as a solution when it makes sense in a given case. We also may match homeowners with contractors via our main home service website, Modernize.com. The primary goal is to help consumers find local contractors who are available to perform home service projects, and we disclose that by submitting a request to match with a contractor, homeowners agree to authorize email and phone calls to discuss your project. We hope this additional information is helpful.

      Complaint: 20292288

Thank you for your informative response, which shed light on several aspects of the service. However, I would like to highlight an issue with the functionality of RoofingCosts.org, as it appears to be malfunctioning or providing inaccurate referrals.
The website claims to offer "Local Home Roofing Prices By Zip Code." However, two of the referrals I received were from *******, **********, which is located 79 miles away from my residence. This suggests that the referral system is not accurately matching contractors based on proximity, which may lead to inconvenience and impracticalities for customers.
Furthermore, I would like to propose that Quinstreet reconsider providing referrals to the New York Metropolitan Area. Given the distance and potential logistical challenges associated with contractors from outside the area, it would be beneficial to focus on local service providers who are better equipped to meet the needs of customers in this region.
Regarding the specific issue of unlicensed contractors, I would like to bring attention to the practices of *****************. During my interaction with their salesperson, I was shown what appeared to be a license document with a ************** emblem. I was informed that it was a ************** Home Improvement License covering Suffolk County, the jurisdiction where I reside. However, it was later revealed that there is no such license in existence, and a roofing contractor requires a Suffolk County Home Improvement License to perform roofing projects in ******, **.
To reinforce my concerns, I have attached our signed contracted I entered into with *****************. These documents clearly indicate that the contractor misrepresented their licensing status and conducted business without the appropriate credentials. A copy of the ************** Certificate that Seci show me is included in the contract.
In light of these issues, I kindly request that ***************** not be recommended to Suffolk County residents through your referral service. It is crucial to prioritize the inclusion of licensed and reputable contractors who comply with the necessary regulations.
I appreciate your attention to these matters and your dedication to maintaining the quality and integrity of your referral service. I trust that you will take appropriate action to address these concerns and prevent similar issues from arising in the future.
Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to a satisfactory resolution.
      Sincerely,
      *************************

Just today I have been inundated with phone calls from home improvement companies claiming that they received my phone number and address for an inquiry I had made on QuinStreet for new windows and doors for my home. I have never heard of or used or contacted this company. I have never requested a quote for home improvement. I have tried calling every phone number available on their site and no answer.
