I called LegalZoom about cancelling their registered agent service as it was automatically renewing and charging my credit card. They informed before that before I could cancel, I would first have to file paperwork with the Secretary of State to change to a new registered agent. I was further told not to worry about the recurring charge because once the paperwork was filed and accepted I could call back and if it is within a grace ****** my renewal fee would be refunded, or if it was past the grace ****** I would receive a pro-rated refund. I have filed the paperwork with the State and they changed my registered agent. When I called LegalZoom back to cancel the service they did so but are now refusing to refund any of the money that was paid just a few weeks ago towards a full year service, directly contradicting what the previous rep told me.Business response

I applied for the basic LLC filing by just paying state fees. They applied themself as a registered agent after they filed which I did not allow. They wouldnt let me cancel the fee and said I have to register a new agent. I appealed the registered agent but the state is taking over a month to file my new agent. Legal zoom wont refund me if its past the 30 day policyBusiness response

On Jan 9, **** I was charge $299 by Legal Zoom for my LLCs Registered Agent. I was told my Registered Agent is responsible for receiving important legal and tax-related documents, such as court summonses, subpoenas, or tax notifications, on behalf of your business. Correspondence from the State was sent to my business, but I realized my RA did not reach out. I needed to talk to them to find out why, and when I called, found out I could not talk to my RA. The address they gave me for my RA is not theirs, it belongs to a different company (Janusfield). This random companys address is on my state paperwork. I was told I could only email my RA, but there was no direct email. I received no response from the generic company email. Now I have to search for a real RA and pay for a new one. My state LLC paperwork is all messed up. I called several times and sent emails. I have saved and screenshot all correspondence with this company trying to reach my RA as well as saved the false contact info I was given. The address I was given for my RA belongs to a company called Janusfiled located at ********************************* Suite 536 *******, ** *****. The service I paid for and was promised was not provided.Business response

- [ ]Legal Zoom charged my account on file on 12/15 for $299 without my consent to renew. Legal Zoom failed to send notice of renewal prior or after the charge of $299. Legal Zoom website does not allow customers to delete credit card on file. - [ ]Called Legal Zoom and chat with customer service on app on 12/16 to cancel. I was told by customer service rep that I can cancel for a full refund of $299 if I changed my registered agent. - [ ] chose and paid ********** Corporate Registered Agent for renewal on 12/16/2023. ********** Corporate Regustered Agent legally filed my business LLC renewal on 12/17.- [ ] Legal Zoom is not my Legal State Registered Agent. - [ ] ********** Registered Corporate Agent represents my business LLC. Therefore, Legal Zoom should not charge me for a service that was not rendered. I never received the renewal service from Legal Zoom. Legal Zoom was appropriately cancelled on 12/16 with the cancellation processing number of ********* for the order number *******.- [ ] Legal Zoom is legally responsible to refund back my Discover account ending in ****.Business response

I have been trying to dissolve a nonprofit, that was formed with LegalZoom since November 2023. I paid around $800 to form the nonprofit. The nonprofit was not being used so I asked to close it. *** spent about another $300 trying to dissolve the company. They were meant to provide a service of helping me navigate the legalities of starting up a nonprofit & later dissolving the nonprofit. But they failed. They are stringing me along now. I just paid for them to file an annual report & extra money to put a rush on it. Today I am told they need my annual report, but I just paid for that!The customer service person had the nerve to to tell me that he just spoke to the Secretary of State & that I should be okay & within ***** hours everything will be closed. I dont believe it one bit. They provided no help when I needed it, strung me along when I called, lied when I asked questions. I did not get any of the service I paid for.Business response

Legalzoom has been nothing short of a nightmare. I've spent over $600 on services that I thought would make life easier, yet somehow here we are... "Total Compliance" is something I assumed would help make sure my business is in... total compliance... with state and federal laws, but it doesn't.. that information (after already paying $199) would be an additional $99 for the "Total Compliance Report". This website has not provided a single, tangible benefit to my company, other than filing the **** Another huge issue is not being able to look at any company documents. Every single document I try to open has the same error message EVERY SINGLE TIME, "Oops, looks like something is broken. We are working on it!". My experience with LegalZoom has been an absolute nightmare (expensive, confusing, stressful, waste of time/ money). Avoid like the plague.Business response

On 1/30/23 I purchased a package from Legal Zoom. It included a basic will, power of attorney and living will. I completed these items in a few months and felt great about the accomplishment and the services of Legal Zoom. Then at midnight on 1/29/24 my account was charged $199.00. I called Legal Zoom on 1/29/24 and they told me I was signed up for some other plan. I did not sign up for this plan (intentionally) and I do not want this service. Legal Zoom said that they would send this information to a different department where a decision about the refund would be made within 24 hours. They said they would email me with the decision. Again, I complained that I do not want this service and how can they keep my money like this? How can they just take money from my account without asking? They said they will get in tough with me in 24 hours. In the mean time I went into my account in Legal Zoom and cancelled a plan that cost $199 that I did not order. On 1/31/24 I had not heard from them and called again. I explained the situation again and that I do not want this service and would like a refund. I was told that my information again would be sent to this department and I would get an email in 24 - 48 hours. They said that yes, Legal Zoom does have documentation of my previous phone call and this department will get all the information. Again, I said I do not want this service and want a refund. I do not understand how Legal Zoom can take my money and keep it for something I do not want.As of today 2/7/24 I have not heard from them. I will dispute this charge with the help of my credit card company. This is very unfortunate because prior to Legal Zoom taking money that doesn't belong to them I was a happy customer. In August 2023, I signed up for assistance with setting up an LLC. I was never told it was a subscription plan. I was charged $259 on my February credit card for a subscription. First of all, I was never told that it was a subscription. Secondly, they just charged the credit card without ANY prior notification. I called Legal Zoom several times to cancel the policy and request a refund. They refused any refund even though I won't be using their services.Business response

LegalZoom has yet to complete the dissolution package for ***************** and send to the Security of State as they stated on Dec, 8,2023. Also *** a supervisor stated on phone and email with confirmation of other personnels a refund of $20 and of $90 due to all of the delays on their end of the lack of follow through.Business response

On January 13th, 2023, I paid LegalZoom over 200 to help me close my LLC. Prior to paying them, there was not a single reference of any work that would need to be completed by myself. They provided a commitment throughout the whole process prior that they would be able to handle the entire closing process. It is now Feb 6th, ****, and my order is still in process with no end in sight. It took over 10 calls to customer service to even get my order moving. I was recently told by the company that this orders turn time should be approx. 43 business days. We are now going on 264 business days since the original order was placed. I had to renew my registered agent service with another third party for the year of ****, at the cost of about 110, to keep my LLC compliant while they still worked on my order. On top of the delay, after about 5 customer service calls, I was told I needed to file separate documents with the state on my own and that they couldnt do it for me. This was not relayed to me before I paid them any money. I would not have paid for their service if I knew this ahead of time. By the time I found out this new piece of information, LegalZoom told me I was past the refund window, even though they had not provided a single service to me by that point, so I was stuck dealing with their terrible customer service moving forward. Every time I reach out to discuss the status of my order, no one at LegalZoom is able to provide an update or any guidance on when I can expect next steps. I would never recommend using their service when it comes to LLC dissolutions, and even though Ive never used them for anything else, I would be comfortable saying I would never recommend them for any business transactions at all. At this point, I just want my order completed so I can be done dealing with them since apparently a refund is impossible at this point. The company has not tried to resolve my issues at all when dealing with their customer service. Order # ********Business response
