In hiring process for hospital job in ***************. They use HireRight for background checks.Seemed like an easy enough process and similar to ones I have done multiple times before with different background companies. However, for the second time in a week I received an email from HireRight stating they cant verify dates. They are now requesting I provide paystubs or payroll records from former employers matching dates of employment listed (start date of some were almost 30 years ago).I can say that in over 30 years of employment and hiring / background checks I have NEVER had this much of an issue verifying employment dates including my very last employer.Based on the other comments / complaints I posted here, I highly doubt that HireRight even attempted to contact any of my former employer to verify dates. Seems like they function on simple data searches and whatever they cant find just gets thrown back to the subject of the background to do the work. Not cool. A phone call to HireRight directly to see what the issue was goes directly to an automated system that gets you nowhere.Business Response

I was offered a **************** check started 6/14/23. As of today, 7/19/23 the background is still not complete. Ive called multiple times (on hold an hour +). The reps Ive spoken with have been very hard to understand/broken English/heavy accents. The request has been expedited which evidently does nothing. I called last week & spoke to ******* in the escalation department & was told I would receive an email with an update by the end of the day-I have not received any emails (also checked junk mail). *** only lived in one state, have no criminal background. Its ridiculous to be waiting over a month for a background check to finalize. Ive had to push my start date twice now. This is unacceptable.Business Response

Thank you for sharing your comments. In the state being searched, there is a data migration taking place from county courts to a ************* data repository. Unfortunately, some counties are impacted more than others. Information about this data migration, as well as potential options for the prospective employer, were noted on the report on the same day it was ordered. Estimates that are provided are based on what the average processing time might be expected to take, under normal circumstances. As a result of it not being possible to predict how long a state data migration might take, the estimates that could usually provide a close estimate of expected processing time may continue to need updating. I called macomb county & they stated the public access system is down, has been for over a month with no ETA as to when it will be back up. She provided an email & stated all requests for records need to be made to the email at this time. If the system is not working, efforts should be made to obtain the records in another fashion, rather than just sitting on the request & blaming the state-especially when they are easy to get ahold of and have another solution available.Business Response

Unfortunately, and as noted on some county and state websites, the existing, available routes, each with its own limitations including searchable time periods, record types, are insufficient for certain purposes. Search parameters are set by a prospective employer when ordering a report. The employer has been made aware early in this process of the challenges of the search in this location.Initial Complaint

I have been waiting for over 30 days for a background check to be complete. Called after 2 weeks was told this would be escalated for immediate results. Followed up several more times and no results have been made. My new hire date has been pushed back 3 times so far. The "expected completion" date has been now pushed back to July 24th, which will delay or possibly reverse my job offer. This company is not taking it's position seriously as the delays impact people's lives. Meanwhile, I can't even get a job in order to survive.Business Response

I have been offered a job at Green ****** Grocery in ********* **. I started my background check on 6/21/23. It is now 7/10/23 and they still have not been able to complete my background check. It's only supposed to take 2 days. I am afraid I will lose the job offer since they can't seem to complete this. I know my background is clear because I was hired to two other companies before this with out problems. They keep pushing the completion date back every time I check. Hireright has been stuck at 83% for my background report for two weeks. I called them, and I could barely understand her. I think she said court delays. I have no court records. I couldnt even tell if the call was over because I could not understand her. I guess they decided peoples lives and livelihoods dont matter.Business Response

I was offered a position with a company and submitted information for my Hire Right background report 6/23/23. On 6/27/23, they said there was a discrepancy with the dates of my employment with a company I worked for from ****-2016. Since it was almost 20 years ago, it was difficult to pinpoint exact dates I worked for the company, so I submitted reports from 2006-2016 and SSA information from 2005-2016. For ****, I asked them to contact the employer for verification that I had been at the business in an unpaid capacity (family business). The information I sent them was denied because they said it was "screenshots" (it was not). I then sent them 526 paystubs from 2006-2016, and SSA income verification from 2005-2016 and again asked them to contact the employer for ****. They did not, stated that the number I had provided was not associated with a business (it is and I have ******* wireless phone bills to with the number and name of the business on the bill as proof) and marked this part of my report "closed with discrepancy."Next, I was notified that they could not verify certification at a university that I attended to obtain certification that was required for the job I was offered. They asked for supporting documents and contact information (again). I uploaded both, their notes stated that the school did not have any record that I had attended, and did not look at my supporting documents proving my certification and attendance. They marked this portion, "closed with discrepancy." I have emailed the school myself to get verification from them that I can submit to my prospective employer even though I have supporting documents (attached below). This is ridiculous, makes me look dishonest, and they have not done their due diligence to make sure what is in my report is accurate. I have disputed these two things. What they DO have correct are my traffic tickets from the 90's. I am worried about what personal information I have submitted to this company at this point.Business Response

You only completed the education and employment portion after many disputes and demands to look at all the documents I uploaded. I literally had to force that issue. Then I had to provide contact information over and over. Now, you have put the report back inpending mode delaying my start date once again. You should really read the complaints and use them to do better instead of uploading a response like this. My report is being held up because of traffic tickets from **** years ago. If I hadnt forced you to, you would not have done anything. What should have been according to you 2-3 business days to complete the *** trace portion of the report is nos ***** days out. HireRight performed a background check on me. They did not contact a single previous employer. They tried to contact *************************** in regards to me working at UniSys. They did not contact UniSys. This is outrageous, HP isn't even the correct company and they are not partnered with UniSys in any way that would be relevant. They didn't verify any of my **** employment with ******************, instead they subtracted a year of experience from me. They did not speak with anyone at the company, or even attempt to, I have contacted this employer and verified this. In fact, I called all of the companies which were reported erroneously by HireRight, and they've never heard from HireRight regarding myself. This is a career opportunity that I have been working towards for years and I've just been railroaded.You are a background check company, please go actually check my background. If you report my employment accurately I require no further action.I am contracted to Electric Boat, who build nuclear submarines which will carry intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. I handle sensitive information every day. I can pass that background check from the US government, but not the rigorous standards of HireRight.Business Response

I have been offered at job at ****************** in *************, **. I have been sent a link by ******* to enter information into HireRight database to began a background screening. The process started on June 20, 2023 and as of June 23, 2023 it stated that my background check was 62% of being completing. So I go to check to see the status today June 26, 2023 from 12noon-8pm it states it can not find my information. My offer of employment is expected to start July 10, 2023. I have been reading reviews and they aren't good on different sites. I need my background to be done in a timely manner and sent to ****************** by July 10, 2023.I have worked very hard to get this position as Department Administrator and I would like to start on my expected start date.
