A fraudulent account was opened with Acorns under my name, social, phone #, and address. The rep was unable to tell me what state it was opened, the email address (that was not mine), or what bank account was attached and could not close the account until A FRAUDULENT deposit of $5 went through. I got off of the phone after almost an hour, without being able to close the account until that pending transaction was completed. They have no fraud department and representatives arent clear how to handle such an issue. Still waiting for resolution.

My personal information (social, DOB, address, etc) was recently stolen and used to open various accounts and credit cards, one of which was a debit through Acorns. I called to have them cancel the account and flagged for fraud, but the customer service reps had no idea how to handle such a request. They continued asking to verify information that I could not provide because I didn't open the account, and despite me saying multiple times I didn't open it. Even after that they still didn't understand the request to close the account and flag it for fraud. They refused to send any kind of confirmation that the account was closed and refused to transfer to a manager or any fraud department. When asked for a confirmation email or number, the rep said "you can trust me that it is done." The rep also became very defensive about having to provide confirmation, and kept cutting me off to try and end the call. The 2nd rep wasn't much better when I called back to confirm the account was cancelled. Any reputable financial company is going to have the proper channels in place to prevent and report fraudulent activity. Acorns is not a legitimate financial company because they do not have basic procedures to report fraud. I am still not certain if the account is closed and I have yet to hear from a manager despite being told I'd get a call back. Do not risk your money here.

I had two people to sign up for Acorns and was supposed to receive a $500 bonus. I was them told I need to provide documentation of my former sms current bank account. I did so..After doing that I was told my account was approved, then we needed to make 3way calls to verify those accounts. I was then told due to activity on my account that my account would be closed, and the bonuses would be sent to my linked Bank Account within 3-5 business days. Now that we are one day shy, the same ***************** who said he verified my account, said that I would not be receiving my bonuses.

Contacted customer service (I use that term very loosely) to check on the status of referral bonuses that were not credited to my account. The rep was unable to assist and said she needed to submit a ticket to check the status and would need additional info. I provided the requested info, then the next time I tried to log into my account I discovered it had been disabled. Now, mind you, Ive had this account for quite some time and there was never an issue until I inquired about receiving their advertised bonuses. I called customer service back and was advised that I needed to provide documents to prove my identity. I sent those documents to the rep, who said she, again, would need to submit a ticket. Several hours after this I got an email stating that I needed to submit the documents Id already submitted in order to get my account back. So, to summarize: 1. Their frontline agents can do absolutely nothing for you and 2. If you are due any money FROM them they will do everything in their power to s**** you over.

I loved the app as long as I was investing. When I decided to close my account I've been given the run around for weeks. I still have not received my funds nor the **** I've requested despite numerous contacts with their customer service people who are clearly in a foreign call center with no authority to fix anything.
