Taxrise agent tried to convince me that they could significantly reduce my tax burden. After I asked for the parameters, I told the guy that I dont think I would qualify. The guy insisted and ran my $500 anyway. I call back later after noticing the money came out of my account and asked ********************** to refund me, I was told it was too late, the cancel period had passed. I told them I said that I was not going to go through with it and made it clear in the phone call. They went back and listened to the recording, supposedly, and said that I did agree. I asked if I could listen to the tape and I was denied. They straight up said, its our money now chump! I just hung up sad and $500 dollars poorer. On top of that, I still came away with no viable solutions from Taxrise to fix my tax burden.Business Response

This business is a scam. We paid $250 for help with our taxes. No one has reached back out to us regarding our taxes or the next step. They then tried to pull another $250 from my account after I canceled services. Currently it's been 3 weeks of trying to get my funds back. ***** won't respond via email. After speaking with Mrs. ******** she confirmed her request to cancel her case and receive a partial refund of her retainer fee on 2/7/25. While we did complete the tax investigation, the remaining agreed-upon payment was required before we could discuss the investigation results and was only attempted to be collected as she agreed to the retainer amount. However, her refund request was made well outside the window outlined in her signed service agreement. Despite the retainer fee being non-refundable per our policy, we have agreed to issue Mrs. ******* a client satisfaction refund. She can expect the refunded amount to reflect in her account within the next 3-5 business days. If any issues arise with refunding to the card on file, we will proceed with issuing her a check. I owed $24,000 to the *** on 4/3/2024. I was going to contact the ***, but this website appeared named TaxRise. I called them and they originally said to me that they could get my taxes down to $8000. I looked them up on the BBB and it said A-. However, I should have looked at the complaints. I sent them $5175. I have been in contact with them, and they were always working with the attorneys on my case. I called last week and spoke to a representative, who said they would expedite it. On 2/13/25 I received a certified letter from the *** stating that I owed $31,323.58 as of 2/17/25 and that this was a notice of intent to seize (levy) my property or rights to it. Naturally, I called the *** to save my house. I reached a deal with them within 15 minutes. I was also informed TaxRise had never contacted the ***. Also, I was informed by the *** that these Tax relief companies can't do anything more than I can do. I immediately reached out to TaxRise and their Tax Organizing Officer reached out to me. She had the audacity to say that I was in "breach of contract" by contacting the ***. She wanted to know when I received this notice because I was to contact TaxRise right away. I did! Who wouldn't? This woman tried to put myself at fault. She said I should ignore that notice. WHAT?? I said to her, "So I'm supposed to listen to you and not the ***?" She said "yes". Then she said, the *** representative didn't know what she was talking about. To say I was floored is an understatement. I said I want a full refund yes or no? That was before I realized how much the interest accrued on my debt as of today. She would not respond to that question.This so-called "company" is a fraud. TaxRise cost mean additional $11,498.00. Almost half more of my original debt. They won't only save you money, they will cost you money. I am speaking to an attorney. We appreciate **** ****** taking the time to share her experience and allowing us the opportunity to address her concerns. We would like to clarify some important aspects of her case. Regarding IRS notices, its important to note that we cannot stop IRS correspondence, as these notices are automatically generated for anyone with a tax liability. As part of our process, we ask clients to forward any IRS notices to us immediately so that we can review them and take the appropriate steps to address them. Since we are representing **** ******, it is essential that we manage communications with the *** to ensure the best possible resolution for her case. To formally notify the *** of our representation, we submitted the Power of Attorney form that **** ****** signed when we started her case on 3/26/24. Per our service agreement, we also advise clients not to contact the *** directly, as this can sometimes interfere with our efforts to negotiate on their behalf. Since filing this complaint, **** ****** has been in contact with our ***************** team, which handles all cancellation and refund requests. After speaking with one of our representatives on 2/13/25, she agreed to a follow-up conversation with a ***************** supervisor on 2/14/25. However, despite multiple attempts to reach her at the agreed-upon time, we have not received a response. We remain committed to addressing her concerns and working toward a resolution. Salesman, ******, lied about what they would do for the $500 I paid, they claim I don't owe money and thus they don't need to negotiate a settlement with the ***, however, the *** I paid to file my taxes could not find any way for me to not owe money, Tax Rise refused to send me a copy of the return their experts prepared that shows I can get money back. I had asked for a partial refund since they only did 1 of 3 things they said they would, ****** ignored my first 2 calls and email and when he did answer he said they would charge me more than we agreed upon for tax negotiation, pretty much a cut and dry breach of contract. What others have said about them is absolutely true, they're a scam, they will lie to get ur money, and won't make good on their promises.Business Response

On May 14 2024 at 5:30pm we spoke to a representative with Tax Rise who said the company was able to negotiate and represent us with our tax burdens for both the state and federal debt we had acquired. The agent said we would not acquire interest charges with both that our personal accounts would not be levied and we would nt have collection actions taken against us while in negotiations and a resolution for payment was agreed by all parties. After 8 months of no resolution 8000 dollars of interest accumulated on the state taxes our accounts including two of our daughters accounts being levied a lien put on our house no straight answers from represatives at tax rise a loan with accumulating interest to pay fees for tax rise services no ease of mind as guaranteed from tax rise with this issue has only caused more uneasiness we decided to fire them and ask for a full refund as none of what they said they would do for us had been obtained quite the opposite.We called to fire them requesting a full refund and after they assured us they were expediting a settlement apologizing numerous times for their handling of our case they needed to send us some documents to sign we agreed and tax rise sent us another clients personal documents instead of ours.we immediately called them back said we are done expressed our mistrust in them questioned if our info had been sent to someone else and the representative answered sarcastically it was a human error. I am reaching out to express my serious concerns regarding the service I received from Tax Rise. I initially engaged with your company in April 2024, trusting that you would assist me in resolving my tax debt. Before making a significant financial commitment of $14,000 for your services, I was assured of a resolution that never materialized. I was explicitly informed that Tax Rise would work to reduce or potentially eliminate a portion of my tax debt while also providing me with access to a tax consultant or preparer to prevent future issues. However, after approximately three months, in August 2024, Tax Rise assisted me in filing my 2022 and 2023 tax returns. Once my taxes were officially filed and I received confirmation from ******** that both my federal and state taxes had been accepted, all communication from your company ********* October 2024, I received a notification from the *** stating that I had a substantial outstanding tax balance, with the threat of a lien or levy being placed on my property if payment was not made. When I attempted to seek assistance from Tax Rise, I was repeatedly transferred between representatives before finally being connected to my assigned case manager. Unfortunately, I was merely reassured that this situation was "normal" and that there was nothing that could be done at that time.I am extremely disappointed by the lack of transparency and support I have received throughout this process. At no point was the Tax Rise process clearly explained to me, and I now feel that I was misled and taken advantage of during a time when I urgently needed assistance. Furthermore, upon reviewing my tax transcripts, I discovered that there are still expenses that need to be accounted for, requiring me to file an amendment to correct these errors. When me calling business the associate explained that TaxRise will analyze my 2024 taxes information that I provide and based on all questions that I answered over the phone on 01/29/25 with associate I was told that company will 100% be able to help me to lower the amount owed to ***. Company messed up my information and I never recieved the email with the portal to fill out financial questionaire. I had to keep calling them and inquire about the access to the portal that they kept telling me about. I went through extensive filing out forms and documents process and on 02//07/25 I was told that there is no taxes owed reduction option at all, that is not something possible or ever was possible. Instead I was suggested taxes payment plan option with financing which I never inquired, asked for and was never even brought it up to me. The company is a scam. Since the opening of this complaint, Ms. ****** has had the opportunity to speak with a representative who was able to review her case in detail. After conducting a thorough investigation and auditing the call in question, it was confirmed that no guarantee of a tax reduction was made. Instead, Ms. ****** was informed of the importance of the investigation phase before any determination could be made regarding her resolution options. While we have fulfilled the services outlined in the agreement she signed, we acknowledge that Ms. ****** did not walk away fully satisfied with her experience. As a gesture of goodwill and in an effort to address her concerns, we are issuing a client satisfaction refund. We ask that she please let the BBB know of the solution we have come to and inform them this matter has been resolved.

****** from Taxrise called me today and O explained that he had no new information from me since I last talked to them in October. My situation with the ITS has progressed to collections with all 3 accounts I had with them. I had zero accounts in collections when O started with Taxrise. I requested them to cancel my account and give me a full refund and we still do not have a resolution.

In March 2024, we enlisted Tax Rise to help us to resolve a large *** debt. Since October 9, 2024, we have received zero communication from our Case Manager. All documents that were requested have been submitted. We have received very threatening certified letters from the ***, and we fear the *** is going to lien us because Tax Rise has not yet submitted any of the tax returns, nor have they acquired the resolution per our request. After 4 months of trying to reach someone, we are at a point where we want a refund, and we'll send the money to the *** and try to resolve this ourselves. This is now the second complaint I have written about Tax Rise and their complete lack of accountability. On 2/5/25, I wrote a complain stating Tax Rise had failed to contact us since October 9, 2024. Unfortunately, this complaint was closed before we could respond to Tax Rise's response on the issue. Our Case Manager at Tax Rise has been completely absent and failed to respond to any of our inquiries since that date. On 2/13/25, I finally received a call from ******* ******* at ********************** who assured me he would reassign our case to another case manager. On 2/20/25, we submitted out 2024 tax return. To date, nothing has been done, and now the *** has levied our state tax return for federal taxes due that should have been resolved by Tax Rise. We want a full and immediate refund at this point so that we can pay it to the *** and resolve this matter. This company has failed on every level.

TERRIBLE COMPANY DO NOT USE, ************. Paid $500+ for a resolution of my taxes. NOTHING HAPPENED besides taking my money and ******* off the **** Wait on my behalf that is. So now I still owe money and now the *** is ****** at me. I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get audited.Taxrise is a 100% SCAM. I was trying to find a tax solution and they said they could help. Four months later I apparently don't qualify for their services. Tell me that day 1 before I pay you that I don't qualify like WTF???I finally got a call back, only after I made a truthful posts online. Publicity/***utation to the public is all they care about. Not me, not my issue, not anyone, they just care about $$. If you want to get screwed than all you have to do is pay and you will never hear from taxrise again except to tell you that the sales calls they placed to me cost money! WHAT?? My money, which is the dumbest thing ever. You become a customer and then get F**ked. Even the customer service call is similar to the first liar (onboarding *** will never answer) and I was handed off to three different ***s. I finally got a follow up call after I posted a review of just their tardiness and lack of communication. Only to tell me "sorry we cant do anything and we are not liable for you tax bill increasing"!!!!! I have physical evidence of this. All in all find any other company (others could be scams as well) as I paid money to only get charged more by the *** like my gosh if that doesn't qualify me for a refund, then no one will ever get a refund. I have submitted a complaint before of this exact same nature. However, I am not the only one. After doing the research that I should have done before using TaxRise, at least *****, and probably ******+ people that have had life changing issues/problems with TaxRise. Anyone reading this, do not trust a single thing TaxRise says as everything is yes and It really means absolutely nothing. TaxRise does not only s**** you they kick us while your down. And, they offer no support to anyone.

We appreciate Mr. ****** giving us the opportunity to address this matter. When he initially signed up for our services, he also entered into a loan agreement with a third-party finance company, ****, to cover the resolution fees. Although we successfully enrolled him in a Federal Resolution as outlined in our service agreement, we understand that he no longer wishes to proceed. To ensure his satisfaction, we have requested the cancellation of his loan and a refund of all payments made toward it. **** follows an internal process for loan cancellations and issuing refunds, which can take up to 30 days. We have received confirmation that his loan cancellation is in progress, and the refund will be issued accordingly. Additionally, Mr. ****** spoke with our ***************** leadership, who provided further clarification on the matter. At this time, we have exhausted all possible avenues to resolve his concerns, as his loan has been canceled and he is receiving a full refund of the payments made.
