I ordered a phone upgrade through AT&T. I expected it to be delivered by UPS like all my previous experiences. Instead, I began receiving texts from them asking me to prepare for the home delivery expert from an expert in which they asked me to check in with a link. I NEVER DID!! They kept texting, now saying it was an "Enjoy Expert" and showed up in my doorstep without my consent. Stupidly, I let them in and allowed them to give me my new phone. They said they only needed 12 minutes of my time. That sounded quite strange. They asked me if I needed help setting the new phone up and I declined, and then offered me a bunch of other services which I also declined. They asked for my driver's license and took a picture of it. They left. I did not sign or pay for anything nor did they touch my old phone. The next morning while I was in my car, I noticed that my hotspot light was activated. There were three unrecognized phones hooked up to my phone. (This is my old phone; I had not transferred my data to the new one yet). I had boot given access to anybody to my hotspot. Then at home, I saw that my DNS servers on my home network had been deactivated and forcefully rerouted to a different one. I was not able to change the settings.
I found the Enjoy website and read their Terms of Services and Privacy Policies.
I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY LIKE THIS IS ALLOWED TO FUNCTION LEGALLY!!!!!!!
In short, they collect (and I am copying from their site ) :
IP address, email address, account name, SS#, driver's license #, passport ** physical characteristics or description, address, telephone #, insurance policy #, education history, records of personal property, products purchased or considered, consuming histories or tendencies, physical location or movements.
Then they describe how they can use and share our personal information (SCARY!!!!)
Finally they say that they can deny any request to delete any personal information retained and collected.
