The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On March 24, 2024, Prosper Marketplace, Inc. entered into a consent order (81240/AH) brought against the business by the commissioner of the state of Minnesota Department of Commerce.
According to the consent order, the Commissioner of Commerce imposed a civil penalty of $30,000 dollars to be paid to the State of Minnesota as a judgement against the company. The attorney general alleged the business engaged in unlicensed debt collection activities violating Minnesota law Minn. Stat § 45.027 (2022).
The business voluntarily agreed to obtain the appropriate licensing to conduct business in the state of Minnesota and to cease and desist from violating any laws, rules or orders imposed by the Commissioner and pay for the investigation costs.
