I am an office personnel at ********************************, and we are responsible for **********************************************************************. We recently acquired this property from a new owner and started to manage it last month. When interviewing a prospective tenant, they expressed interest in viewing the property. Our office then handed her the key to taking a self-tour, When the prospect arrived at the property, she observed that it was occupied. When she informed us of this information, we called the police and made a report. The unauthorized tenant said they saw an ad from zumper.com and that's where they obtained their tenancy. This tenant not only paid Zumper a deposit and application fee but had 40 cats and 6 pit bull terriers in this house. Anything over 10 animals in this city is considered animal cruelty. Now ****** is trying to charge us $175 for a missing box that held the key because we suspect whoever rented this property from under us cut off the box and got rid of it. We believe that Zumper needs to take responsibility for its negligence in screening its ads and posters. This has ruined our business's online integrity when it comes to rentals.Business Response

People are acting as realestate agent and scaming people to wire money to them. People are also saying they are the legal owner of a rental property however when I run a background check and look up who is the legal owner they are not. I had inquired about a home listed on Zumper. A gentleman contacted me via text (red flag#1) then he sent me an emailed application (#2) & then another text asking for a app fee via Cash app (#3). So I blocked his calls & emails and reached out to ******* who's the owner/management company for this home. The bad thing is they still have property on the site but what's worse I they're using my name as the contact agent for this property. What I do?Business Response

On January 31st, my rentals (**** S. *********************************) was listed for rent through Zumper.com fraudulently. It appears on their website and Movotto.com for $2000.00 per month. The photos and description have been fraudulently stolen from Zillow, where I have the property posted for $3500/mth. I have no intent to rent my property through either Zumper or ****** and I believe this is being done as a scam to obtain money from hard working folks desperate to find reasonably priced accommodations in our area. I have tried contacting the person they list and have not been able to speak to this person to have my property removed from their websites. Several potential renters saw the house on Zumpers website and have informed me of this scam. Zumper's website requests information requiring the potential renter to spend $50 and provide ALL of their personal information! I would like both Zumper and ****** to remove this from their website.Business Response

September 2022 - Present I've visited your website multiple times a day as well as my husband because we are in desperate need of a new home. I'm disabled so if like to find a single family like the one we've rented for over 13 years that our landlord recently sold. I've tried to communicate multiple times with listers, managers and landlords that are listing single family homes on Zumper for rent in *********** ** yet when I call, I can't get through to anyone no matter how hard I try and when I send multiple emails I get no replies back. Allot of the houses are listed for only $1000 rent but I believe it's all illegally posted and incredibly fake and fraudulent. For a people like ourselves that are in dyre need of a new home it is incredibly frustrating to get taken for a fool over and over by the people or person posting these fake listings.Business Response

I have reported seven listings to *********** that are scams in Southern California. They are all generated from zumper. All properties are for sale by agents and someone is copying and pasting the photos and the verbiage. Zumper needs to verify their clients as they are supposed to be the best background checker available. I have screenshots and can prove all.Business Response

Last night a man came to my house saying he wanted to rent it. I ask him why he thought it was for rent. He said the internet. This morning when I searched I found two websites listing my home for rent. It most certainly is not for rent. I have tried to contact both websites, which are owned by Zumper. I got a reply from ******, their other website with my home listed, and they said they cannot remove the listing until it is removed from Zumper. I have tried 15 times to call the number listed for information on the website. No answer each time. I've sent messages through the website at least six times as well as emails that they acknowledge getting but no replies. I do not know how my home got listed on these websites, and I consider this fraud. I do not want any more people coming up to my house at night asking if they can rent my home. It is not for rent. Please help me contact this company and get my home removed from their listings. I appreciate your consideration and help. Thank you, ***********************Business Response

On 1/25/2023, a prospective tenant informed me that the property I own was listed on Zumper by a person purporting to be the owner. The prospective tenant showed me text messages with the alleged owner trying to collect rent/deposit through cash app today. My house is legitimately listed on ******, and Zumper permitted this scam to be published on their site without proper verification.Business Response

A house we have for sale by owner on ****** has appeared on Zumper and Motovo as ***************************************************** For Rent $900 per month. The listings on Zumper and Motovo are fraudulent. We have never provided any rental information to any party. *************** is for sale only. It appears either Zumper and Motovo stole the data from Zillow, or, someone else found a way to put the fraudulent rent information on Zumper and Motovo. The Motovo ad even included a fraudulent mls number. I have never had a mls number. Thank you in advance for stopping this fraudulent activity.Business Response
