Alpha Structural completed a foundation and waterproofing job on my home in 2019. The cost of the job was over $20,000. Last month my home sustained over $15,000 worth of interior damage due to water infiltrating through the waterproofing and a malfunctioning sump pump that was not properly installed or protected from dirt and debris. In an email from the original job notes (attached), Alpha Structural states the importance of preventing any future water from reaching the home walls, and that there is good reason to believe in the event of future heavy rains there is going to be water getting under the home from sub-water, and poor waterproofing systems allow sub-water to get into the home. I contacted Alpha Structural immediately after the flood damage to have them come to investigate what could have caused the flooding. They were shocked that the sump pump was covered in dirt and we agreed they would come back out after the assessor came from the insurance company, and they did. They followed up with an Observation Letter (attached) claiming that they were uncertain what caused the sump pump failure and that if it was determined to not be functioning it would be my financial responsibility to replace it. No further investigation was offered as to cause, and leaving the sump pump vulnerable to dirt and mud was not addressed. In the letter, they also state that the water "spilled over the top of the barrier and entered the living space" which is feasibly impossible based on the pictures attached. The water clearly came in through the shoddy waterproofing. The company has offered to clean out the sump pump and add a retaining wall to prevent future dirt issues where the sump pump is placed, but this should have been done in the first place, and this minimal amount of work offers no resolution or mitigation for future damage or my losses. It also leaves me with additional expenses of fixing their inferior work along with the damage to my home.

Alpha Structural performed a retrofit project for our Santa Monica rental building in 2019. We have yet to receive our final permits from the city. Alpha has been paid in full since the physical project was complete in 2019. Alpha was so negligent with the project paperwork that the building permits lapsed and they had to pay additional fees to get our permits reinstated for approval. We have given them and the city everything they have asked for. We met with an Alpha employee (name withheld) and a City Inspector on 7/27/21 to move the finalization along and still our project has not been finalized. We've reached out multiple times for an update on our final permits and have been consistently ignored. Other than the physical project itself, this company is completely unprofessional. We just want our final permits from the City of Santa Monica. We have more paperwork if you need more information.

After contacting the BBB, an owner representative named ************** from Alpha Structual contacted us and sent us the information we needed from the city of Santa Monica verifying that our project was finished and approved by the city. Although, two company employees previously ignored years of my initial requests for information regarding our city permit approval and finalization, ********** had an employee go to the city permit office last week to get us the permit information that should have been provided when construction was finished. We are satisfied with the outcome and thank you for helping us remedy the situation.
