I hired A Peoples Choice in June of this year to facilitate the probate of my late father. They failed to fill out a single form correctly. I was turned down by the Judge to get my letters of administration 3 times because of defective documents. They cost me an additional $2000 in court and publication fees because of their negligence. They made the entire process so stressful and difficult with their lengthy emails filled with legal ease, broken links, etc. I knew more info from the real estate brokers who troll the probate court dockets than what I learned from APC. They almost cost me my father's only asset which is his house which was in foreclosure. I hired someone else to get the job done correctly. Please save your sanity and pocketbook and avoid this terrible company.A People's Choice Response

This is in response to address the concerns this client has raised regarding our handling of their legal matters, specifically an ex parte probate petition and the standard probate petition for probate. It is inaccurate for the client to say “I was turned down by the Judge to get my letters of administration 3 times because of defective documents.” The Petition that was declined was the Ex parte emergency Petition for letters of SPECIAL Administration, not the secondary standard Petition for Letters of Administration. It is important to clarify that our office did complete the necessary standard Petition for Letters of Administration forms accurately and in accordance with legal standards, and this submission was preapproved per probate notes. With regards to the ex parte emergency petition, the issues we faced primarily stemmed from the court’s unwillingness to approve the sale of real property via ex parte means prior to the formal appointment of a personal representative. We concur there were discrepancies in the initial ex parte emergency submission. However, despite our diligent efforts to revise and resubmit the client’s ex parte petition to conform to the court’s requests on three separate occasions, all submissions were denied. We want to emphasize that these additional services were provided to the client at no extra charge and all document preparation fees associated with the ex parted petition were ultimately refunded. After the initial rejection, we recommended the client consult with a probate attorney for assistance and clarification regarding the court’s demands with the paperwork, being willing to make any revisions the attorney would recommend. We also spoke with an attorney who occasionally works with our clients on a limited scope basis in unique situations. The attorney also confirmed that he believed the ex parte documents were properly prepared with the proper requests. Thus, both this attorney and our office shared in the confusion regarding the court's stance in their denial. Ultimately, it became clear that the court was taking a firm position against approving ex parte petitions in this context, and thus no matter what revisions we made to the Ex Parte Petition we would never have been able to overcome the court’s denial of the requested relief. Regarding the standard petition for probate, that petition was, in fact, prepared correctly and pre-approved per posted probate notes, contrary to the client’s comment alleging they were not. We do acknowledge that during the process of seeking approval for the ex parte petition, we inadvertently initially published the incorrect petition. We took immediate responsibility for this error by absorbing the cost of the re-publication for the rescheduled hearing, which was ultimately approved. The client did not need to hire another company to prepare a second Petition for Administration as the Petition we filed, republished and scheduled for hearing had already been preapproved pending the hearing date scheduled. Our office refunded the document preparation fees paid related to the ex parte petition and phases 2 and 3 of the standard probate, retaining the fees paid for the standard petition (phase 1) as that documentation was, in fact, successfully filed, completed and accepted by the court. Our office dedicated significant time and effort to resolve the issues in every way possible and to support this client throughout this process, even recommending that they seek additional legal counsel from an attorney which they refused to do. Legal proceedings can indeed be complex, and while we strive for excellence, mistakes can occur. Matters are also subject to the whims of various Judges and their individual protocols. We regret any inconvenience this client experienced during this process. It is worth noting that, after our professional relationship ended, the client did NOT resubmit another ex parte petition knowing that, in fact, this court would not approve such under any circumstances. The matter was ultimately approved consistent based on the documents our office prepared.Review from Jessica B

If I had known what I would have experienced with this company, I would NEVER, ever have had any business with them. I don't want to give them even one star if I can. I retained the company to prepare a living trust, with a contract for 30 days. Wasted at least two weeks time due to technical glitch, which is very weird if not intentionally set up. Then I had to pay extra $200 to get a phone interview for 5 minutes. When the documents were finally drafted, there were so many simple errors with names and other things messed up.Review from Brian E

I needed help with a felony that needed to be expunged. I called around to several places and got quotes of around $1,400. Some how I was directed to A Peoples Choice, read their website seemed to good to be true but wanted to try. From the first phone call, I was reassured that they could help me for half the cost of others. The emails from Ms. D***** were clear and straightforward and reassuring. I was kept up to date of the status and it was all resolved very quickly. My felony was reduced to a misdemeanor and then dismissed. I highly recommend this company.Review from Isabella V
