We signed off on the product in January of 2022 and the delivery was estimated to take between ***** weeks. It is now the end of June 2023, 70+ weeks later, and we still do not have a guaranteed delivery date. Delivery has been delayed six times. Every promise for a delivery date is missed. We gave a deposit of $8500+ in January of 2022 and, at this point, we have no idea if we will ever see the building.

      ************,

Your building is scheduled to ship August 8th and deliver August 10th.  I can see that you have been in communication with our deliveries team to coordinate. Unfortunately we are not able to discount the building because the delays, while frustrating, have affected every customer and have increased our costs on every project.

      Sincerely,

Order# ***** I have not received my roll up doors. I had my crew (with rented equipment) to unload the building as instructed. A production delay (which was not conveyed to me) resulted in a loss to me of ~ $2,000. Invoices provided.I still have not received my roll up doors, so the building is standing open, with birds and wildlife making it their home.....and creating a mess of the insulation. The building was not shipped as ordered. I ordered a building that would allow gutters, they shipped one that would not.

      ****************,
I hope you are having a great day.
Records indicate your Overhead Doors were delivered June 8th.  We do not have any record of a claim about your trim, however we show that you ordered flat trim and we delivered flat trim.  That is the best trim for installing gutter packages. If you would like to submit a claim for incorrect materials, please reach out to *******************************
We show a claim about the delivery truck arriving later than planned; the claim shows closed.

In early March, 2023, we provided a ~$5000 deposit. By the end of March, 2023 we were not told that they would not deliver without a permit. We realized that we would likely not be able to get a permit due to the location. Therefore, we request a deposit and the project manager, *************************, assured me that a refund would be forthcoming as they haven't started any of the work. Then, radio silence. His apparent manager, *****************, will not return a call. This is close to going to court. These guys are unresponsive and generally terrible to work with.

      Hi *****,
I hope you are doing well today.
There is no requirement that you obtain a building permit for us to deliver your building.
Hopefully that clears up any confusion.
If for some other reason youve changed your mind and decided you dont want a building, please let us know.
Additionally, it doesnt look like you are the person who ordered the building?  Please clarify who is the buyer - we have been unable to reach her.

In April 2022 I decided to do business with Great Western. I purchased materials for my shop that were to be delivered in September 2022. I proceeded with this transaction because I needed a building asap and explained this to Project Manager **** because of the hail storms in late summer to protect my belongings. I was assured with my deposit of $29,120.00 that the building would be here by that September date. As September neared, **** called and said it would be closer to November. Once November came around I began making calls about my concerns and they assured me it was due to Covid limitations etc.. (this wasn't mentioned when I put my large deposit down. But nonetheless they said December for sure, possibly February 2023. Family began asking questions about this as this didn't seem like a legitimate company anymore but still I was patient just wanting a metal shop to work in and protect belongings in. Once February came, I called and was angry... the original project manager **** who was no longer there..and I was redirected to someone else named ***** who stated that he was so sympathetic to the delay but as we signed this contract we would have to be patient because no refund was possible and there was nothing he could do. But he would assure us that *** would be the ship date. I then received an email stating before they can ship it that we must pay the other half in full before they would even consider shipping it.... I thought this was strange and had an issue with this but they said it was policy... but *** was the date. Then two days ago on March 28th 2023 I received a new email from someone else all together that now the date should be the end of July 2023. When I reached out about this and said this is unacceptable as we may never actually get the building he suddenly stated that we didn't have to pay the full amount that he'd let that go. They refused to refund or cancel our contract despite them not fulfilling the contract. They haven't built...

      ************,

We are sorry for the hardship any delays have caused you.  Your building is scheduled to be fabricated in June, and delivered in July.  The deliverables for your engineering payment you made are complete, and are attached here.  Unfortunately you are not entitled to a refund as that work has been performed.  According to our records, you would like to have your building.  Please let us know if you would still like to cancel.

Our shipping coordination team has been in touch with you about your delivery scheduling, please reach out to them with any questions or requests.

I contracted with GWB on 8/13/21 for a 22x24 garage. It was estimated that delivery would be ***** wks. The project went pretty well at first, but now I have been assigned to a THIRD project manager and each time have had to start over all the communication hoping everyone is on the same page for this building. it's been more than frustrating and inefficient. First PM got very little done in 14 months. He had extremely poor communication and didn't follow through on the processes for completing the ********* was the one contacting him and was always promised things he would do to move things forward but he never got things done. After a year and a half, I only recently received all the plans and drawings needed, due to lack of communication and the ever changing Project Managers. I still have not been given a delivery date. I now have been told it is in the detailing que and that it takes a long time! To make matters worse, the company tried to pass on the increase in manufacturing costs (due to THEIR inefficiencies) when I was guaranteed that the price was locked in which is why I paid the deposit on 8/21. I refused to pay the increase. A representative told me that they tried to pass the increase on to several customers but it did not go over very well. They are now asking for a manufacturing deposit which I do not want to do without, at least, having a delivery date commitment. The hardship that this has created goes beyond the manufacturing of this building because I am going to have to rent a storage space since I do not have the ******** was led to believe I would. A year and a half working with this company with no garage or estimated manufacturing date is unbelievable! I can not recommend them to anyone!

      Business response

      03/08/2023

      ******************,

As you originally agreed when you ordered your building, it is a requirement that you pay the manufacturing deposit before your building is detailed or scheduled for fabrication.  You have not paid for those services, and that is the reason they haven't been provided.  I've attached your original order form that clearly states the manufacturing deposit requirement.  I can also see that your project manager has communicated this requirement to you.

As we mutually agreed when you placed your order, once you pay your manufacturing deposit, we will schedule your building for delivery and commence the detailing process.

      Sincerely,

      Great Western Buildings

      Better Business Bureau:

I am only agreeing to this response because GWB is finally committing to give me a delivery date for my building and to complete the detailing process quickly, rather than me continuing to wait for what my Project Manager has said can still be a long time in the que BEFORE we would get a delivery date.
However, the response GWB has provided on this complaint is totally inaccurate. GWB is implying that the hold up on my building, which I contracted with them 21 months ago, is only because the Manufacturing deposit has not been paid. The truth is that I had a prior arrangement, due to excavation concerns, to postpone that payment and the company agreed to it. It took them nearly a year and a half to even complete the MA drawings, stamped permit drawings and foundation plans that I had paid for and was supposed to promptly receive. I have NEVER refused to pay anything that I was asked to pay. The invoice for the Manufacturing deposit was just emailed to me on 2/13/23, one month ago. So the deposit has not been the hold up to my building as the company is trying to represent.

I have been in full communication with my third Project Manager, as it is obvious the company has a high turnover on staffing. He has understood my concern about giving this company more money, when they have not even done what they have said they would, in a timely fashion so far. They have also tried to get additional money from me for material cost increases, when we both agreed the contracted price was locked in. I have been concerned with the many problems they are having as well as the number of similar complaints.
I will now pay the deposit and await the Companys commitment to my delivery date. I will then post an update on this being a satisfactory solution.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

On March 1, 2023 we filed a complaint against Great Western Building Systems as they had not delivered on our 22x24 ft garage we originally contracted with them on 8/13/2021. At that time, they had estimated that delivery would be ***** weeks. It has now been 100 weeks (nearly 2 years) and we have had 3 different project managers, and only been given empty promises. We had a special agreement with them on a reduced deposit amount, so we could make sure the granite would not prevent us from being able to add a garage. After our initial BBB complaint, they said that our building would be detailed and scheduled for fabrication IF we paid an additional $5353.35 which we did on 3/21/2023. On that day, our project manager said that the shipping team would be contacting us within 2-3 weeks to keep us updated on the building delivery time. Now 10 weeks later, we have not heard back from the shipping team, even though we have reached out to them twice about getting a confirmed delivery date. The only communication we have had from *** is from our project manager who left a phone message and follow up email on 3/29/2023. He said we would receive the Erection Drawings, Shop Drawings and Shipper plus get a production month scheduled soon, but NOTHING has been done. Because we have now sold our previous home and do not have the garage we were supposed to have at our new home, we have had to obtain additional storage for our personal belongings. It has taken significant time and effort to get our belongings ready to transport and store. We are not an isolated case. Unfortunately, this has been their business practice for the last several years. It is hard to explain the extensive hardships, financially, physically and emotionally, this company has cost us by their disregard for backing up their promises and timely providing their buildings.

We made a $13,958.00 deposit on a 40x60 steel building on 3/23/22. We received the building plans on 9/8/22 and it did not include the foundation plans. So, we paid another $1,250.00 to get the foundation plans. We received the plans but ran into a problem with the terrain and asked to speak to the engineer for a work around, which happens occasionally with foundations. My husband does this for a living. We sent pictures of the terrain problem and they have not made any attempt to put us in contact with the engineer. Instead, they have sent us the documents to sign to approve the building. We were supposed to have delivery of our building in September 2022, then it was October 2022, then November and so on. Now, we cant get any help from them at all. I spoke to the ** and he promised a call from another ** that would facilitate the questions for the foundation. That was 6 weeks ago. At this point, we just want our building delivered so we can get it put up before next winter. I am now being ghosted by this company. No return email and they do not pick up my calls. My husband works in construction so the manufacture and supplies excuse no longer works here. We know what building material time lines are and they should be pretty much back to normal. I have never been to **************** but if I have to show up on their doorstep to get this done, I Will.

      ***********,

I apologize, it looks like our project managers reached out to a new engineer to figure out more options for your foundation, but then dropped the ball getting that information back to you.  I apologize for any frustration this may have caused. Your project manager should be reaching out to your shortly if he hasn't done so already.

There are two options to pursue for the building foundation:

Option 1: Remove the rock and use the engineered foundation design you were provided.

Option 2: Obtain a soils report about the rock so our engineer can determine whether its safe to incorporate the rock into the foundation design.  If it's safe to do so, you can order a new foundation design that incorporates the rock.

The condition of the rock should be considered in which option you pursue - if its soft and can be chipped away, that might make more sense.  If it's very solid and deep it would make sense to get a new design to incorporate it.

All this information has been provided to your project manager **************************  His contact information is below.

Purchased metal building from Great Western Builders in January 2021. Gave 35% deposit in January 2021 for production of building that was supposed to be delivered in ***** weeks. Company continued making false delivery promises. To date, I have not received the building. I have been promised more than 8 delivery dates. Each time, the Company claims there was no prior delivery scheduled or no record of the building being in production. The last two promised delivery dates were emailed to me. Each time Company stated it would look into the production, and then never calls back. I believe the Company engages in deceptive trade practices - almost 2 years and no building, no refund of deposits, only false promises. Further the company stated I would receive engineered stamped drawings, which I have not received to date.

We ordered our building and put a significant amount of money down to only be told then we had to put more down for additional costs for the engineering, which we did. Total amount they collected is upwards of $43,000 We were told we would have our building end of the summer and through repeated attempts and calling we finally got our permit drawings and foundation drawings the end of October and were told our building would be here by November. I email yesterday 12/18 only to be told it was still in the queue for detailing, after being told by *********************** the detailing would be done the same time the foundation drawings were done. We have had multiple promised broken over and over again. Who knows when we will have our building. We have asked for our money back only to be told no.
