Came to Swan Lake Dental Care for a root canal - *** ****** *************** DDS worked on it half a day, took numerous pictures. I was in so much pain once the anesthesia wore off, the pain that just wouldn't go away. For days. I thought so much work and "digging" was done, so maybe the tissues were healing. Came back to the doc a couple of weeks later. She asked if she had prescribed antibiotics (couldn't she see it in my history?). Ended up prescribing antibiotic mouthwash. Two more weeks went by - I was still in a lot of pain and discomfort. Went back to *** ******* She referred me to another place where for a 3D image, Swan Lake Dental Care could only take 2D. She was no longer sure what what was happening. The other doc didn't even have to take the 3D, he looked at the 2D images that Swan Lake provided and immediately noticed my canal was PERFORATED! Therefore, *** ****** ************** and Swan Lake Dental KNEW WHAT HAPPENED AND DIDN'T ADMIT, instead GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND. *** ****** ************** quit Swan Lake Dental Care shortly after! Consequences for me: EXTRACTION, BONE GRAFTING, STITCHES, HEALING, still need a BRIDGE that Swan Lake Dental is now refusing to pay for. Not to mention my pain, time, frustration, having to pay for the 3D image that Swan Lake also didn't cover, and so much more.

    Swan Lake Dental Care Response

Swan Lake DC vs. ********* *****  In regard to?the complaint filed for [case number 178887], we value our patients and the care we provide for them. We take our patient concerns and complaints very seriously.? **** ***** initially presented to our office for root canal treatment which at a later date it failed. She was referred to an endodontist (root canal specialist), who after consultation with **** ****t, determined that the tooth in question was not restorable and needed to be extracted. Upon receiving the report from Endodontist, our office contacted **** ****t and appointed her a time for extraction as well as bone grafting for ridge preservation at no charge. Patient was refunded full amount paid including insurance portion. She now's appears to want further treatment at no cost, relaying that she has undergone pain and suffering. It is common knowledge, that no medical/dental procedures can be 100% guaranteed. Unfortunately failures do occur. We strive to serve each of our patients with the highest quality dental care experience possible and take pride in committing to each patient’s oral health.? At Swan Lake DC we feel we to have accommodated the patient’s needs by continuance of her care in doing a bridge at no cost to the patient to replace the loss of the failed treatment. Swan Lake DC has not refused to treat **** ****t in fact she had an appoint on August 8th, 2023 to continue care. She decided to leave and take it upon herself not to pursue the treatment proposed at no cost to her. If more information is needed in regards to this matter please let me know and ill be happy to provide anything as needed. Thank you Sincerely,? Jessica A**** Practice Manager of Operations Swan Lake DC

    Customer Response

    08/10/2023

The response Jessica provided is not accurate. 1. The area manager, Dennis B***** admitted Dr. Chukym Alexis-Johnson was not professionally equipped to work on my root canal as she had a long history of other frustrated patients. Swan Lake was fully aware of the existing complaint history, yet allowed the DDS to take me as a patient! 2. Jessica failed to mention that Dr. Chukym Alexis-Johnson perforated my root canal and failed to admit to it. The endodontist was looking at the same 2D images she took at Swan Lake Dental Care and could immediately see the perforation. Not 100% guaranteed and not to be able to perform root canals are two different things. 3. Needless to say, their current DDS noted even more flaws. 4. Jessica also failed to mention that on 8/8 I came for a completely different procedure. While there, I asked to schedule my bridge that Swan Lake initially agreed to cover. I was notified that morning that that was no longer an option.
