Purchased a used ***** truck on or about April 24, 2024. I was forced to pay for a $700 option which I did not want. I was told the price for my trade in was higher than dealer wanted to pay so therefore the "option" was to stay in the deal. As it turned out, I did not trade in a vehicle and the option was not removed from the sale. Sales lady stated "we have to make money so that's why its in the deal". I then pointed out several repairs (sunroof inoperable) I wanted to see before the vehicle was purchased. the truck was diagnosed by McGrath service techs and I was told it's a switch issue and that it would be repaired by the dealer as condition of the sale. the vehicle was purchased in good faith. the truck was returned to be serviced approximately 3 weeks later. the truck was then kept by service for almost 1 month before I picked it up. Upon another test drive (with my service advisor) it was discovered and to the surprise of the service advisor, the sunroof still did not work. He could not provide a valid excuse as to why the vehicle was kept for almost a month and nothing was repaired. Upon return to the service department, the truck was brought back to service again and re diagnosed. I was then told the sun roof motor was bad and that McGrath was not going to put any more money into the vehicle. I stated the vehicle was purchased in good faith with the understanding the repair would be made and that if it was miss diagnosed by McGrath service techs it was not nor should not be the customer's problem. Since the first day speaking with sales, I voiced my displeasure with the dealership. At one point, I spoke with a sales director via conference call with service and my sales lady in the room. I advised of the issues we encountered and the sales director then "chastised" my sales lady stating I have heard this has happened before with you and I hear about this one more time "your out" the sales lady stated "I understand".

On January 9, 2024 I purchased a 2018 Acura TLX with less than ****** miles on it from this dealership at a price of $23,766.90. The title was clean as well as the carfax report. I was an out of state buyer (****) so I asked the sales person to provide any details about the car that he could. I was specificially told by the salesman that there were no issues with the car, no dents or dings and was in great shape. I purchased the car and upon receiving it via car shipment, I immediately noticed a number of issues. First, the back up camera did not work and was dangling from the car. Second, there WERE dents and dings all over the car as well as obvious body work that had been performed on the car. Third there was a terrible odor in the car. I contacted McGrath Volvo management with my concerns and they advised that I go to a local dealer and obtain an estimate for the camera. At this point, the car sales person disappeared, I could no longer get a hold of him, nor would he return my texts or calls. I took it to a local Acura dealer who replaced the back up camera for $1,150 and replaced the cabin air filter to see if that helped with the odor. When I submitted the estimate to McGrath Volvo, they refused to pay for the camera replacement and filter. I recently took it back to the local Acura dealership due to a bunch of warning lights on the dashboard and was informed by the mechanic that the car had been rebuilt and had most likely been in a flood. He showed me all the signs that it had been rebuilt including visible bondo in areas, terrible paint job and misaligned body work. The local mechanic couldn't believe that the title was clean and said it should have been a salvage title. Paint is peeling off when I wash this car! I was completely scammed by this car dealership and want reimbursed for the car and I want them to pay to ship it back to their dealership. I can not in good conscience sell this car to anyone knowing the issues with it.

      Dear BBB,

This vehicle was sold to ****************** at the beginning of 2024.  Our records indicate (see attached documents) a clean car fax report was provided, indicating no accidents.  Our policy to return a vehicle is one month after purchase or 500 miles.  This is well outside that time frame.  There is no way of us knowing that something could have happened to the vehicle while in the possession of ******************.

      Thank you,

      Volvo of Fort Myers

I am rejecting this response because:

The response from McGrath was just received. It DOES NOT solve my problem nor does it address the negligence and criminal way in with which they do business. I called them immediately after receiving the car to try and return it and they said there are NO returns. Now they say it has been too long???? Did you see the document attachment I submitted from an Acura dealer near me that verifies that this car has water damage and the title should not be clean???? Please re-open the dispute, this is not any type of resolution whatsoever.

      Dear BBB,

Attached are all the documents for ********************** vehicle deal.  She signed and acknowledged the car 'AS-IS', including the Car Fax report.  ****************** stated that she hasn't been driving the vehicle - the updated CarFax shows an additional ***** miles on the vehicle since it was purchased from us.

      Thank you,

When negotiating with the salesperson, we were told that our returned car had excess mileage and needed tire changes. As a result, instead of using end of lease option and buying our old car. we agreed to a $5K down payment and $700/month for a new leased car, and McGrath would address these issues and we would return old car without any cost. However, a month later, Volvo Financial called asking for money for excess mileage. Upon contacting McGrath, we were informed they had decided not to use the car as a trade-in and that excess mileage was not their responsibility. We only leased a new car because McGrath would handle the excess mileage. I want McGrath to pay excess wearing cost $2751 to VolvoFinancial.

see letter attached. The claim is fraud. I was told by *****, the sales manage, the interest rate on the lease would be about 5% when in fact the interest rate is over 10%. The actual interest rate is not disclosed in the paperwork

I am rejecting this response because the response does not address the complaint. Although the dealer may not be required to disclose the underlying interest rate, that does not mean the dealer, through its employees, can misrepresent the interest rate, which was done here. The dealer apparently does not dispute our version of what occurred, and I submit if the matter were to *************, we would be successful. I would appreciate the dealer informing me of ******* full name and address, as he should be a party if this matter goes forward. It certainly appears that the dealership is projecting a culture of playing fast and loose in an effort to make a sale. I strongly submit that ***** and possibly **** knew the rate was being misrepresented and probably did not care as they were leaving and would not have to deal with the consequences.

On Nov 16th I went to Volvo Fort Myers to see 2019 Volvo S60. The car looked good, so I took it for a test drive. I wanted to go to 75 to test at hwy speeds. The sales rep. would only let me take it around the block. I traded in my 2011 Volvo plus $25,000. I picked the car up Nov 18th, When I drove east on Colonial a warning light came on indicating ********************** Required. When we reached I75 and took it up to 60MPH, it was clear that the wheels were out of balance and when I braked, the peddle vibrated. I took the car right back to Volvo and they informed me that they could not inspect until Nov 22nd when I courtesy car would be available. I drove home and on they way discovered several driver assist items were not working. I took the car in on Nov 22nd and later that day was advised that the tires were shot and needed replacing, and it was at my expense. I asked to speak to the service manager and explain the situation and he promised to get back to me with a reduced price for the tires, he never did get back to me. I then get a call to tell me the rear rotors and brake pads need replacing, but that they would cover that cost. I instructed them to go ahead with the brake work, but not do anything with the tries until I hear back from the manager with a price. On Nov 29th I call to find out what is going on and I am informed that they made a mistake and would not cover the cost of the brake work. I ask to speak to the manage and was told they would get right back to me. I did not get a call back and tried to call *** and Sat, they would not take my call. I finally make contact on Dec 4th and they are offering me nothing. So I tell them I will be there within the hour to pick up my car. The service manager then calls me to tell me they had already done the brake work so I needed to pay $1400. I pointed out that I did not authorize the work and I was taking my car. I took it to a garage and they confirmed that the brake work was not done. Buyer Beware!

I am rejecting this response because: There is no indication that any brake work was completed. The brake ****** still vibrates when pressed. Please advise exactly what work was done. Also, The Park ****** function was supposed to have been fixed, but it still does not work and I get a message saying "Service Required" every few minutes when driving even with the Park ****** turned off. I was told that the problem was a sensor, the **** and Lane ****** functions now work, but the Park ****** is not functioning. Frankly, I don't need the function, If there is away to stop the constant messages I would be happy.

I purchased a vehicle from McGrath volvo of Fort Myers on September 27 2023. Less than an hour after purchasing the vehicle the front driver side tire blew out due to it being dry rotted. While trying to regain control of the vehicle I injured my knee and had to have surgery a couple days later. I had car towed back to dealership to have car fixed and they are trying to charge me for the damages. They have had the truck for 2 months and still have not fixed the issues. I no longer want to do business with them and would like a full refund.

Volvo Dealership of Fort Myers Listed a Used 2022 **** Maverick for $25,321 as Price Rank #1 but failed to add the vehicle maintenance, actually calling it a Recon Fee of $1,845. Feel it is deceptive. Also a dealer fee $799 on a used vehicle.

The customer conveniently left out the disclaimer from their attachment that fully discloses all fees that are listed on every vehicle that we have for sale. So, I have attached the full listing that shows the disclosed fees. Also, I will add that we have the lowest advertised dealer fees in all of Southwest *******. Thank you.

      Complaint: 20691356

I am rejecting, and the dealership's response should universally be rejected, for multiple reasons, including the dealership's failure to address the $1,845 "Recon Fee," purportedly the dealership's costs for work performed in making the vehicle "saleable." These "costs" are neither fully explained by the dealership nor are they openly disclosed. It is only at the time of final sale, and only after a customer insists on itemization, that such costs are revealed.  It is a variation of the bait-and-switch, only in this instance, the dealership deceptively lures the customer in with a lower price, and then switches with a significantly increased final price, inflated by hidden Recon and other fees.

I asked three separate times if the vehicle had had any damage and the Dealership lied about the vehicle not having damage. It had substantial repainting, which was done poorly. I took delivery in the rain, so the paint streaks and runs looked like water until the next morning when the vehicle was dry. Sold me a vehicle that had a thousand more miles than they had advertised it for and didn't disclose the difference until I had already signed most of the paperwork on the purchase. Called multiple times and the ** refused to even take my call. Would not respond to me except through salespersons. Told me essentially that because I had already signed the paperwork they got me and wouldn't do anything about it. They have numerous similar complaints filed against them and apparently it seems to be a pattern of practice to try to deceive and scam customers in my opinion.

      Business response

      10/03/2023

We had no knowledge of the truck being damaged prior the sale. The Carfax was clean at the time. A refund is not an option. We would be willing to take it back in n trade for a different vehicle.
