1 starOkay so on 4 18 20 25 my credit card was compromised so I call Stillwater insurance company to let them know say hey my car's been compromised here is a new credit card debit card that you can go ahead and run the payment today since my payments come out today and that way my payment for next month will be able to make it set up because my payments automatically come out on the 19th of every month so they charged me a $31 and some change charge saying my card was declined I spoke with Melissa who talked to me very rude saying it ain't their fault that my bank then I messed up on it and I didn't have the funds I asked to speak to a supervisor name Aaron he said the same thing I say sir I'm looking at my statements I have statements all this Money's been in my account I'm going to senior in college all my school money comes here my job money so there is no way they might car should say the claim they told me they don't have a reason why is this the $31 they're going to charge and that's that I can write in to a complaint so I'm complaining that I've been with them for two and a half say three years and this way to go from there so I give them one star if I can do a negative zero Stars I would do that worst company to ever get insurance through. I rather spend my money elsewhere and get better Services than been talked to like I don't exist or we talk to like a broke down dog I can spend my money elsewhere and go to another companyReview fromBrian R

Company denied my claim because waterline wasnt installed right. I asked if it was against International Building Code (which I know it isnt) or what wasnt installed right meant. They could not provide a legit reason to deny my claim. Scam company.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Mr. ************* consulted with the claims supervisor on your claim to address your concerns. A Field Adjuster and a plumber were sent to inspect the damages. The plumber reported the improper installation of the water line citing there should have been a bend fitting installed to allow for the right angle of flow; since it was not installed, the pex pipe kinked itself and caused the leaking. Also, the field inspection revealed visible mold growth on the baseboard and carpet indicating the leak had been active for some time. Therefore, it was determined there is no coverage in your policy for this incident. This has been explained on the phone and in the denial letter that we emailed and mailed to you this week.Review fromWillie H

I recently filed a claim with Stillwater regarding damage to my HVAC unit. Following a severe thunderstorm in my area, my unit failed to function. I obtained independent diagnostic reports from three licensed HVAC companies and each report clearly indicates extensive damage to the unit, and that said damage is consistent with that of a lightning strike. An adjuster from Stillwater came to my property and did what I thought was an inspection of the unit. I was not provided with any documentation revealing any findings about my claim.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Mr. ********* contacted the claims supervisor on your claim to address your concerns. On 3/19 you reported a claim stating your AC was no longer working. Stillwater assigned an independent contractor specializing in **** to inspect your **** system. The results of the inspection determined that the cause of loss was due to wear and tear and it was documented that the control board had been removed from the unit. Based on the inspection results, Stillwater denied the claim as wear/tear is not a covered loss in the policy contract. This was communicated to you in the denial letter which included a copy of the inspection report, outlining the cause of loss as wear and tear. Stillwater will conduct a re-inspection of the **** system if you can provide all the original components that were a part of the **** system, which includes the control board (motherboard/circuit board) that was initially removed before our inspection. The adjuster on your claim will be contacting you to explain the above.Review fromR. C.

Title: Avoid Stillwater Insurance at All Costs Worst Experience Ever Ive never written a review like this before, but after 18 months of pure agony, I feel obligated to warn others.Stillwater Insurance is hands-down the worst company Ive ever dealt with. My water damage claim has been open since January 2024, and Ive experienced nothing but stonewalling, silence, and utter disregard for customer service. They initially denied my claim without valid reason, forcing me to hire a lawyer. Only then did they reopen the case nearly a year later, issued a partial payment, and have since gone completely cold. No follow-ups, no explanation, no accountability.I truly don't understand why ***** even associates with this company. They are unresponsive, disorganized, and show zero empathy for policyholders in distress. If youre considering them for insurance dont. Just ******** deserve better.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Ms.***********,We have reviewed the notes in your claim file and contacted the supervisor on your claim to address the issues you mention in your review. We have sent two checks out on your claim, one in January and one in February, totaling $26,952.90. Since February, the adjuster has been speaking with you and requesting the receipts, invoices and documentation necessary to review and settle the claim. You have sent records of Zelle transactions but no receipts and invoices from contractors with itemized repairs, nor receipts for Additional Living Expenses. The examiner has also attempted to contact the contractors using the numbers you provided but have been unsuccessful in getting them to respond. Please understand we are eager to settle your claim, but we must have the proper documentation to determine what work has been done and what work is covered by your insurance policy. All documentations should be emailed to ********************************* with your claim number in the subject line. We are here to assist you and answer any questions you may have throughout this process. Please reach out to your examiner if you need further clarification or support. We appreciate your patience and are committed to working with you to resolve this matter.R. C.

This is a narrow and selective version of events. If necessary, I am prepared to share the full email correspondence Ive had with the Stillwater claims adjuster to provide a complete and accurate context. While Stillwater did reimburse one invoice related to water damage restoration and five days of hotel stay, they subsequently declined the remainder of my claim despite my total out-of-pocket expenses exceeding $145,000, most of which remain unresolved.Stillwater continues to request documentation, including many invoices I have already submitted. I fully understand the importance of receipts and have made every effort to provide them. Unfortunately, several contractors are no longer reachable, and some required immediate cash payments without issuing formal invoices. I even provided their contact information to the adjuster in good faith. However, it is important not to lose sight of the core issue: this situation could have been avoided entirely had Stillwater handled the claim responsibly from the outset. By reopening the case, Stillwater has effectively acknowledged that the damage was caused by a natural disaster not due to any negligence on my part. The initial denial forced me into a position where I had to cover emergency repairs myself, often under difficult circumstances and on unfavorable terms. This was not a choice but a direct consequence of being left unsupported during a time of urgent need. The management of this claim has been deeply unsatisfactory, and I strongly disagree with how it has been handled to date. I respectfully urge Stillwater to consider the full context, including the financial and emotional toll this process has taken, and work toward a fair and timely resolution.Thank you for your attention and support.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Ms. ************ Stillwater cannot pay additional money on your claim without the documentation showing what you paid for. We have already paid $1397.77 for Additional Living Expenses for a hotel stay from 1/27-2/07/2025 and $25,555.13 for the remediation services from CWF Restoration because we received proper documentation. You provided us with first names and phone numbers of four individual on March 3rd and we promptly made attempts to contact them to request invoices; none responded with the providing invoices that detail the work they completed. Therefore, no additional payments have been made, as there is no proof as to when the work was completed, what work was completed or the cost of those repairs. We have also not received the proof of Additional Living Expenses from you. Zelle cash payments without backup documents are not sufficient as they provide no details pertaining to the claim. We have responded to you here and through the Department of Insurance complaint you made regarding this claim. There is nothing Stillwater can do without this documentation. Your claim remains open as we await the documentation from you or your contractors.Review fromTara H

Large quick moving storm with heavy winds went through our area on 3/16/2025 ripping large sections of shingles off of our roof. We had a contractor out the next day, to take pictures and to do a dry in to protect our roof, which is the same day we started attempting to contact Stillwater to file a claim. We were initially given bad contact information by our mortgage holder, and after a day were able to get correct contact information to file a claim. It took 6 days for Stillwater to send an adjuster to the house to take a look at our roof. We are now 16 days out from damage being done and Stillwater is attempting to deny our claim based on a previous claim we had filed in 2022 for minor roof damage due to wind that they deemed wasn't large enough to warrant a claim, so we repaired it ourselves. Stillwater is now requesting proof of purchase for shingles and supplies from 2022 and refusing to approve our current claim where large sections of our roof is missing shingles (the adjuster spent an hour and half assessing damage when he came to our residence and the replaced shingles from *************************** place as they're significantly darker than the rest of the roof). This insurance company is full of scam artists doing anything they can to get out of legitimate claims including refusing to be easy to contact. Numerous times my husband has tried to reach out via phone or email to have it take days for our "representative" to reach back out to provide any additional information. Absolutely recommend using ANY other company for your home and auto insurance. At this point, all I want is for this company to make things right and take care of what we've paid them to take care of, our home in a catastrophic event.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Ms. ******** contacted the supervisor on your claim and see the examiner spoke with your contractor on 3/31 and spoke to you today, 4/4, to provide an update. The adjuster is currently reviewing your prior claim and waiting for the repair invoice from the 2021 roof claim to move forward with the investigation of the new damage. We are here to assist you and answer any questions you may have throughout this process. Please reach out to your examiner if you need further clarification or support. Stillwater Insurance company covered our home in the Phoenix, AZ area for a few years until we sold it and are traveling in our RV. We found the staff to be very professional and always easy to reach and communicate any questions or concerns about coverage. We also made a claim for a lost ring and again, professional and responsive. Easy to submit the claim and was covered for its current value. Great company to work with and we will definitely reach out to them when we find and need to insure our next home. Many thanks to the staff.Stillwater Insurance Group

Received an email demanding for a final payment due on a cancellation of our automobiles insurance. Called the number and the information said zero balance due. Never received mail or email statement of remittance for $17.50 until today. Representative told me it’s in collection, so my credit score is going to be effected a bill I didn’t receive. Representative told me mail was sent around Dec. 20, mail could be delayed by holidays. Replied it’s February 6, all she said it was sent and nothing could be done by the company. Should have been sent letters or emails for the remittance of the bill for cancellation fee, which I was unaware. So my credit rating is effected by not pay $17.50, paid it today on my card. Too late because it was in collection already and basically too bad. What an inept and unprofessional way to run company.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Ms. ************** you cancelled your policy in December, effective 1/6/2025, we processed your request and mailed you the cancellation notice with final invoice for $17.50 to cover your coverage up to 1/6/2025. As to why you did not receive that confirmation by mail, we cannot say. The final payment was due on 1/6/2025 and was for premium owed. When we did not receive the payment, we zeroed out the balance in our records and sent you an email noting there was a $17.50 balance. You have paid that balance as of 2/6/2025. Thank you. At no time was the remaining balance reported to the credit bureaus nor is this communicated in the letter and email sent to you. We hope this clarifies the situation and puts your mind at ease.Review fromJessica C

11/9/2024 is the date of the damage. We contacted the company within 3 days to ***ort our homes damage. We pay this company monthly along with our mortgage and weve been doing business with them for 2+ years. We have never filed a claim before, this is our first. Our agent is not emailing us back and her supervisor isnt as well. Ive contacted customer service twice now to get a ***ly and both times the issue was not solved. We were told our floors would be covered by the supervisor ********, then her direct ***ort said she lied and they wont be covered. They want to restore our home in a lesser condition/quality, putting transition strips in every doorway, and they want our floors to not match. I was told by the agent Destiny that they changed their policy/practiced a couple months ago and no they didnt let their clients know -this is insurance fraud. They have to let us know. Our restoration company and I have tried to email and call them several times and they will not respond. The business is not trying to resolve the issues at hand, and I am very disappointed. They give themselves a deadline and Ive been told a couple times you will get a call back today, or give us until next Monday. And those deadlines are not upheld. We have a relatively small claim and it should not be drug on for 3+ months. If it was a large claim I understand, but its not. Even the supervisor and customer service *** explained this isnt the norm but yet theyre not making it right and fixing the issue.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Ms. ************ have been in contact with the claims supervisor on your claim and learned that you have had a few calls with the adjuster this week. As of today, 2/6/2025, it has been determined that Stillwater will revise the estimate to include continuous flooring. We will work with your contractor to get to an agreed upon cost for the repairs. You have been sent an email today with this information and have been advised we will need photo documentation of the barrier wall for consideration. We apologize for the delays you have experienced.Review fromZachary F

We filed a claim on 9/9/2024 for water damage due to a bad pump on our dishwasher that leaked under the floor and behind the unit. This was all out of sight so we had no idea this was taking place until we noticed standing water in the crawl space upon retrieving garden tools. It was then determined by the plumbers that the water had leaked from the failed pump on the dishwater into the crawlspace. We had an inspector come out within a week of the filed claim and do the assessment. We also had a mitigation team that we were working with to help get the process started for repair of the damage. We went almost two months without a resolution or determination for the claim. I made several attempts to reach out to the adjuster tied to my claim and had horrible communication through the process. Once I spoke with someone else with Stillwater did I then receive a call back the following day stating our coverage didn’t cover the damage. I then filed an appeal which I am still waiting on a response for that underlined the information in our policy stating if the damage occurs in an area where it is not visible (behind cabinets, under the floor, in a wall, etc) there will be further steps to ensure coverage is met. Overall this company has grossly mishandled this claim from the start. It has been four months since the start of this claim and we still have no resolution.Stillwater Insurance Group

Dear Mr. ********* have followed up with the supervisor on your claim to address your concerns. We learned that you spoke with the supervisor on 1/28 to review the claim and at that time we agreed to review the claim with management. As of today, 2/4, the claims manager on your claim has reviewed and determined Stillwater will afford coverage on the claim. You will receive a payment letter detailing the payments you will receive by check and the examiner will call you to discuss the determination as well. If you have invoices from the mitigation services, please submit them to ********************************* for review (include your claim number in the subject line of the email). We thank you for your patience in this matter and look forward to resolving your claim promptly.Review fromBarry M

Dear Mr. ********* have reviewed the notes in your claim file and see that you spoke with the examiner on 10/28/2024 at which time you were informed the claims payment is in transit in the amount of $27,195. This accounts for the maximum Coverage A benefit on your policy. On the call you stated you will send in receipts for Additional Living Expenses for review and reimbursement. During the month of October, we had several calls with your public adjuster and worked with him to obtain documentation we needed to complete the claim review. Please send in the *** receipts so we can complete the review in a timely manner.
