I had multiple problems after the condo unit above mine caused water damage. The 2 claims that I made were mislabeled as liability instead of water damage making it impossible to switch insurance companies. With one of the claims, the claim was vacated without informing me, the customer. When my ********************** came up for renewal my policy cost almost double of what my previous policy was and the cost I was quoted while I was investigating other insurance options.

Dear ****************, We have reviewed your policy history. Both claims were filed as non-weather water Third Party which indicates the water damage to your unit was caused by a third-party source; neither claim was ever filed as a liability loss. We also verified that the **** reports reflect this fact as well. The claim history cant be removed, and the reported cause of loss is correct. If you need proof of claims history for a new carrier, we can supply a Letter of Experience to you which gives the description of the coverage supplied for both claims. The claims were paid based on the damages discovered during the inspections. On both occasions, you were notified of the payments both verbally and through written letter. On the 2021 claim, the subrogation was successful, and we reimbursed you the deductible. Regarding the premium, your rate increased $110 in 2023 and $56 in 2024. These rate increases are consistent with other current Stillwater policies due to current inflation and normal cost of business increases. Stillwater has sent you a renewal offer to renew your policy 8/15/2024. Payment must be received by 8/14/2024 to avoid the policy expiring. We hope this addresses your concerns.

I had a home constructed from the ground up. I didn't like the builders deck options so I decided I would get one immediately after closing on the home from a person who specializes in decks as I want a well built one. My insurance broker picked stillwater and I paid in full weeks before the closing. This company could've done their inspection prior to and dropped me before the policy started. Instead they wait until after the closing to do an inspection, do not warn me in any way that the sliding door without a deck would be an issue. The deck is bolted on the inside and not in use this home also passed state inspection in the same state but stillwater waits 3 weeks after closing then decides they are gonna cancel my insurance on a brand new home which I am working on getting someone to install a deck. A phone call, time line, inquiry or something would've been appreciated as I couldn't have a deck built until after closing on the home and it takes time for someone to build a deck especially during spring rain season. The concern if someone were to even use the door is a foot and a half in height from door to ground. This is amateurish at best. I am glad they dropped me I could only imagine the nonsense they would pull if I actually needed to file a claim. Good riddance taking my money to a more reputable insurance company thanks for wasting my time.

Dear **************************,We have reviewed your policy. Part of our new business review on each policy consists of an inspection of the property to ensure the property qualifies for our program by meeting our underwriting guidelines. This process begins once the policy takes effect. We sent you a cancellation letter after the photo inspection revealed there is a door missing a landing, making the property ineligible. We consulted with our underwriting department and found that you can take corrective action to maintain the policy and submit proof to ************************************** in advance of the cancellation date of 4/28/2024. Until you have your deck built, you could build steps, a deck or place a fixed permanent board across the sliding doors so that it cannot be accessed. If you would like to discuss this further, please email ************************************** to request a phone call regarding this matter.

This horrible business sent one of their adjusters by my house while I wasn't home. Without even setting foot on my roof, they concluded that my roof was in poor condition and had been patched. As a result, they sent a nonrenewal letter stating that my insurance will be cancelled within 30 days. I had a professionally licensed and insured roofing company come out and do an inspection 3 days later and they stated that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my roof and are willing to speak to Stillwater (or confirm via any means of communication Stillwater would like) to that effect. Stillwater, of course, with have none of that.Keep in mind that their initial report when insuring me in 2021 stated that my roof was in good condition and only 5% granule loss and had at least 6-10 years of good life left in it. Obviously the company is reducing its coverage umbrella so that they can stop actually having to pay out insurance claims and their strategy is to send minions out to take numerous pictures of roofs while no one is home so they can make a wild claim that gets them out of insuring us. This is class issue for sure. Horrible business with a terrible, elitist agenda. I'll be passing this information on to as many sites and platforms as possible so that I can keep as many people as possible away from them.

Dear **************,As part of our standard policy review prior to renewal, we had a physical inspection done on your property in February 2024. The inspection photos clearly show the roof is in poor condition due to lifting shingles, with an area that has been patched and repaired with a sealant. The inspector was able to obtain closeup photos by using an extension pole and did not need to get on the roof to get accurate pictures of it. While the 2021 inspection indicated the roof had approximately 6-10 years remaining life left, this was just an estimation as there are many factors that affect a roofs lifespan. The original property inspection in 2021 also noted that 5% of the shingles were lifting back then. Unfortunately, in the last 3 years, the roofs condition has further deteriorated to the point it is no longer acceptable for Stillwaters program. We would not be able to accept a statement from a roofer as our universally applied underwriting guidelines do not permit lifting or patched roofs. We notified you of our decision to non-renew in advance, so you have opportunity to replace coverage. Your policy will non-renew effective 5/17/2024.

I got renters insurance through these scam artists, and can only thank god I never had to use it based on my subsequent interactions with them. The policy was for a specific period of time ending Apr 10, 2024. I had it set to debit my account monthly for the insurance and all was well. They sent renewal letters, however I was moving out of the location and did not need insurance from them at my new place, so I did not accept the renewal letter.I thought that would be that. But APPARENTLY even though I DID NOT ACCEPT THEIR RENEWAL OFFER they went ahead and began charging me for another year term anyways. When I contacted their support to inform them that I DID NOT agree to renew a new contract with them, that they lacked my consent, etc. they told me I'd need to send proof I moved out of the location. What qualifies as proof they wouldn't say. But that is irrelevant.I mean honestly! Even if I didn't move I DID NOT AGREE TO RENEW so how the h*** do these scammers have the audacity to charge me? What if I just changed insurance and so didn't want to renew? What a joke of a company.I will be filing disputes with my bank for the charges. They refused to provide me with contact information for their legal department or corporate and, at that point, finally got a manager (they refused earlier when I asked for a supervisor). After that they FINALLY said they would backdate my policy's "cancellation" and I did not need to send proof. At that point I had grown tired of arguing that I WAS NOT CANCELLING ANYTHING as I had NEVER AGREED TO RENEW ANYTHING and as a result NO LONGER HAD ANY ONGOING LEGAL AGREEMENT TO CANCEL.TLDR:Avoid at all costs if you have any other option. What a terrible company.

Dear **************,We looked at your policy and billing to address your concerns. When you e-signed the original application and *** authorization form you authorized us to pull monthly payments. The convenience of setting up auto-pay is that renewals are automatic, this is common practice for any insurance company. Every year, prior to a policy expire date, we send policyholders a renewal offer letter; your offer letter was sent on 3/6/2024. On 3/26/2024, we sent an *** Payment Notice notifying you of the new monthly amount to be pulled from your specified account beginning on 4/10/2024 and letting you we need 5 days advance notice to stop or change a payment. Since we had no knowledge of your intent to let the policy lapse, the *** processed as scheduled and the policy renewed for the 2024/25 term. As agreed on 4/6/2024 with ***************** your policy has been cancelled effective 3/23/2024. A refund check will be issued for the $29.72 charged on 4/10/2024, unless you dispute the charges and that processes before the refund check is issued.

My wife uses this company and she made her payment a few days early, and they are telling her that she now has to pay an additional $200 fee on top of her monthly payment for making her payment 3 days early. They said that if she didnt pay it they would cancel her policy and charge her cancellation fees. So from what I see this company is shady and you shouldnt do business with them.

Stillwater cancelled my policy because they said that my roof was no longer eligible for their program.I received a letter saying that they would not renew my policy because the "roof is deteriorating due the excessive **** growth. In addition, the roof is patched which is not eligible for our program."My roof has absolutely no **** growth on it so that was completely incorrect and made me suspicious that they were just looking for a way to cancel my policy. It is however patched and that they used this to cancel my policy. I emailed them and they responded by thanking me for confirming that the roof is patched and that they can no longer keep me as a customer because of that. They did not mention the non-existent **** growth that they initially claimed was the reason for cancelling my policy. When I asked to show where it says that they can cancel the policy because the roof is patched, they said that this is proprietary information. As I read other reviews of Stillwater, it appears that they are doing this to others as well. You would think that this would be illegal. I am assuming that they are dumping policies where they do not make as much money for others where they do. This is without a doubt a bad company and I hope others submit their experience with them to bring down their ratings further.

Dear Mr. ******* have reviewed your policy record to address your complaint. The inspection of your property found the roof to be in an unacceptable condition. Upon your confirmation that the roof is patched, no opportunity existed to extend our willingness to work with you to remediate the **** concern. We proactively communicate inspection finding months ahead of policy expiration to allow our insureds time to act should they wish to continue coverage with Stillwater. Our uniformly applied underwriting guidelines are not available to the public.

Dear **************,We sent you a Non-Renewal Notice by mail on August 1,2023. This Notice made you aware your policy would not renew and would expire on October 30, 2023, due to the roof being an ineligible roof type (composition roll); Stillwater inspected your property in July 2023 as part of our underwriting process. Since your property no longer meets Stillwaters underwriting guidelines, the Non-Renewal Notice was sent well in advance of the expire date of the policy to allow you to replace coverage before the policy ended. We did speak with you regarding the status of your policy when you called our *************************** on November 20th and 21st. We thank you for entrusting us with your insurance needs, but your property does not meet our underwriting guidelines any longer.

This company is absolutely horrible. We have been out of our home for over 4 weeks now due to a frozen pipe bursting. We have worked with over 4 agents at this point. We have yet to receive even an idea of what our settlement will be. We have three little kids who are suffering every day because we cant get a single person to respond to us, to give us an idea of a timeline, or to communicate with us on a human level. I am utterly disgusted with this company and the fact that my family is now completely reliant on them is the most disheartening experience of my life. I am calling the **************** Imsurance commissioner to look into how this company is still in business. I implore the BBB to do the same. We deserve better than to be treated as if we are absolutely nothing.

Dear ****************,Since the claim was reported on Sunday, 1/14 we have spoken with ********************** on 1/16, 1/17, 1/18, 1/19, 1/20, 1/22 and 2/13. On the 1/17 call with **********************, he denied the offer for temporary housing coverage and for us to send service providers to assess the leak and assist with the dry out in favor of your own contractors. The desk examiner followed up on 1/18 and learned a plumber had not yet been contacted. On 1/22, ********************** informed us the plumber had determined the source of the water damage. We received the repair estimate and report 2 weeks later, on 2/6. We requested proof that there was heat in the home at the time of loss, which we received on 2/13. On 2/13, we notified ********************** that a payment letter, approved estimate and check were ready. A check for the Actual Cash Value was mailed to you on 2/16/24 for $38,395.17. The desk examiner is currently waiting for itemized invoices, dry logs and photos from the two mitigation companies you hired before we can review and pay those invoices. Once we receive these items, we will notify you about the payments. We are working consistently to bring this claim to a close.
