We cancelled our homeowner's insurance with Stillwater Insurance after having them for 7 years. We had a bad hailstorm here in NM back the end of May, called and made a claim to have the adjuster come out to check for hail damage. We did have hail damage on our roof, so we started the process of filing the claim and thinking that we had a $1000 deductible, and we were SHOCKED when we were told that we actually had a $8,880.00 deductible for wind and hail damage and yes you read that right $8,880.00. They based our deductible off of what our house would cost if the house had to be replaced (******** with Stillwater said that if our house had burned down, etc. then our deductible would have only been $1000) and not just by the cost of what our home is currently worth in our area. They said the replacement cost for a new roof would be $16,292.83 they then deducted the sales tax ($1003.44) which left the actual cost value at $15,289.39 then minus the $8,880 deductible, they sent us a check for $6,409.39. We were told that we would also be sent a check for the $1003.44 and never was. We CANCELLED our insurance with Stillwater Insurance the end of July, I have been trying to get a update on the $1003.44 since then and was told that it would be processed in 1-2 business day. I have been emailing and calling leaving messages and have yet to have been called back. Was told again on 10/2/2024 that "your request has been received and will be processed within 1-2 business days" and here it is 13 going on 14 days later and STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED my check.

Dear Ms. Henley, We have looked at your former policy and contacted our claims department manager to address your concerns. We apologize for any negative interactions or lack of communication you have experienced. Since your first policy term in 2020, your wind hail deductible has been higher than your $1000 deductible for all other perils; in 2020 it was $7000. The renewal offer sent to you in November 2023, stated the new deductible for wind/hail damage was $8800. In June 2024, the claim adjuster reviewed the inspection report and granted coverage for your claim due to the discovery of hail damages across the entire roof. An estimate was completed for roof replacement in the amount of $16,292.83 and we applied your wind/hail deductible of $8,880.00. When the claims examiner discussed the payment and wind/hail deductible with you and your husband, you expressed concern that the roof replacement would cost more than our estimated $16,292.83. The claim adjuster asked you to send the approved estimate to the roofer for review, and if there were any discrepancies, to forward a copy of the contractor's estimate to us for review. We did not receive another estimate from your roofer to review. We also informed you at that time we would withhold the $1,003.44 sales tax (as outlined in your policy) until we received proof of the roof replacement. As of yesterday, 10/17 the claims examiner has spoken with you and emailed you letting you know we would like to resolve the claim and release the $1003.44. To do so, we need the final invoice, certificate of completion from your roofer along with photos. Once we verify the work has been done, we will release the funds. It is standard practice for insurers to require proof of repairs before releasing all the funds on a claim.

I was a policyholder of this company for many years Horrible insurance company. Stay far away from this place. They canceled my car insurance without notifying me. I only found out through a letter From DMV when I called Stillwater insurance company to rectify the situation, they would not reinstate my policy or write a new policy for me stating they are not ensuring New Yorkers anymore. They stated they mailed a letter to notify me. I never received any letter from them . Being a customer for so many years. Theyve also in the past have contacted me via email and phone and didnt do that this time that resulted in a lapse in my insurance. That I had no knowledge of Which resulted in a penalty fee and a suspension of my registration with the *** A courtesy call to let me know even an email Would have been nice. Seems to be intentional since I was told they dont want to write policies for New Yorkers anymore What a terrible thing to do to somebody

Dear Ms. ******* looked at your policy record to address the concerns in your review. A cancellation notice was mailed to you at your Freeport address on 8/14/2024 to inform you that your premium payment was past due, and your policy would cancel on 9/3/2024 if payment was not received before 12:01 am on 9/3/2024. We did not hear from you until 9/25/2024, 24 days after your policy cancelled. At that time, our representative let you know that we could not reinstate your policy. Since your policy was not set up for paperless delivery, Stillwater did not email you a notice. We mailed the cancellation out in advance to give you the opportunity to pay prior to the cancellation date and avoid cancellation.

Extremely dissapointed so far. Filed a homeowners claim on 09/03 for theft of $22,000 and other damages by a moving company. Today is 10/06, and I still do not have any claim forms. Agent says he will send them and does not. So far, nothing has been done on my case. When I called my agent on Monday, 9/30, he said he needed a statement from my wife, which he promised to do weeks before. He never called or sent me a message. In talking to him on Monday, agent did not have my file up to refer to. How can you have an intelligent conversation with a client and not even know who you are talking to? I mailed all of my documents and files to him on 9/05, and he doesn't know if he has them or not. He did spend a lot of time telling me what is not covered, which means after deductable of $2,500 we will get back about $4,000. Our porch was heavily damaged too, but is being ignored just like me. Called a supervisor today. No one available. No call back. My wife and I are disabled seniors, and I am a veteran, and we resent being treated so poorly. I am requesting a new agent immediately.. If we do not get a proper response today, I will file complaints with the proper government agencies.

Dear Mr. ********* looked at your claim file and see that since you contacted us about your claim on 8/29/2024, we have made numerous contacts with you. The first attempt was on 8/302024. On 9/4/2024 the adjuster attempted to contact you after reviewing the statement you submitted. A message was left for you on 9/5/2024 and then again on 9/11/2024. On 9/23/2024 we sent you a written status letter, requesting that you contact the adjuster to discuss the claim and the provided coverage. On 10/01/2024, we reached out to you and recorded your statement, at that time the adjuster informed you your policy limits were $1500 for stolen jewelry and $2500 for collectibles; and that due to policy limitations, the maximum you could receive for the claim was $4000.On 10/3/2024, you called and requested a call back. The claim adjuster's supervisor called you back to explain the sublimits. She also emailed you a copy of your policy detailing the sublimits and acknowledging receipt of the front porch damages. The supervisor advised you that as soon as we received the completed Sworn Proof of Loss Form, we would promptly settle the claim. On 10/3/2024, you asked the supervisor to resend the form to your spouses email address so you can complete and return it to us. We have not yet received the completed form. Once we receive the completed form, we will finalize the claim. We have also agreed to waive the deductible on this loss. Please send in the Sworn Proof of Loss Form as soon as possible. The adjuster and the supervisor are available by phone or email ************************************

I recently received an increase that was grossly above then what I paid a year agor and now your force to take a 6 month policy car insurance they raised my basic premium by $900 the year before they raised it by $1,000 they are not transparent and unfortunately in NY it's mandatory to have basic coverage, they bought out my previous car insurance TSC direct were my yearly premium was less then half of what I'm paying now, also this company are forcing hold overs from the previous insurers to look someplace else they are intentionally over charging for basic car insurance to force customers, I was informed they are no longer taking new customers therefore they are dishonestly getting rid of the older customers by grossly raising there premiums and the new car insurance scam now is ONLY 6 month coverage.I was with *** direct for over 7 years with no Issues paying my yearly basic NY State insurance, prior to that is the same YEARLY FULL payments with my law enforcement and veterans, I feel Stillwater purposely took out other discounts to raise my basic car insurance premium, good luck trying to get in touch with there corporate office they do have professional service agent that specializes in *** that will not help you at all not even give you basic information to contact there corporate office. This company should be investigated, I feel I'm being defrauded unfortunately insurance company are also black listing drivers to.Will be doing some legal research with other drivers.

Dear Mr. ******* understand you are upset about the renewal rate we have offered. Your area had a rate revision this year which impacted renewal rates; All rate revisions are sent to ************** of Insurance for approval and put into effect when they are approved. On 7/25/2024, we mailed your renewal offer for the renewal policy to take effect 9/10/2024 which included the notice of the transition to semi-annual policies. This notice is mailed in advance so that policyholders are aware of any changes and the premium offer, so they have time to decide if they want to renew or replace coverage prior to the policy expiration date. Stillwater no longer offers 12-month auto policies. You spoke with three customer service representatives on 9/27/2024 and the **************** Manager, ***** has left you two voicemails on 9/28/2024 and another on 9/30/2024 as you requested, so she can address your concerns. We see your policy is in effect. Please call ***** back at her direct line as provided in her voicemails, if you would like to discuss this further.

Where to begin. First, our auto insurance carrier partner's with Stillwater homeowner's insurance to get a discount, so we went with them. In almost 8 years--never filing a claim, our homeowner's insurance (HOI) went up almost $250 dollars, increasing my mortgage payment from $1508 to $1754. Surrounding main roads and roads in our community remain with potholes and getting worse every year. No new schools have been built since we've had the home built in 2017. We received notice that they are going to raise it again October 12, 2024, which will raise our mortgage payment again. I called Stillwater to ask them why it has gone up so much, they said schools and taxes for the road in our area, etc. It didn't sit well with me because of the above. I set out to talk to my neighbors and the folks I spoke with all reported that they have other HOI carriers and theirs has not increased anywhere near that amount ours have over the years! So finally today I called PennyMac and they connected me with their department that helps to find better HOI. My HOI is now cut down more than half! I would like documentation that justifies the increases over the past almost 8 years from Stillwater.

Dear Mr. *********** looked at your policy. Your premium increased $374.13 for the 2023/2024 policy term due to a 5% increase in Coverage A and two rate revisions that took effect that year. However, that premium increase of $374.13 ($20.50 per month) does not account for the $246 increase in your monthly mortgage payment you are already experiencing. The next policy term would take effect October 12, 2024. The renewal offer we sent for the 2024/2025 policy term has a total annual premium of $2406.24. This renewal premium offer reflects an increase in Coverage A from $330,800 to $410,000 ( a 24% increase) and includes the impact of two state approved rate revisions that took effect over the last year. The renewal premium offer is $900.01 over your 2023/24 premium; this $900 annual increase would not cause your mortgage payment to increase by $246 each month ($2,952 annually). We listened to your call with our representative and at no time did he discuss road conditions and schools in your area; he only explained the approved rate revisions and the increase in Coverage A found in the 2024/2025 renewal policy offer. Insurance is not impacted by a towns infrastructure or school taxes. It is more likely your mortgage company provided the explanation you mention in your review. We recommend you contact your mortgage company to clarify what caused your monthly mortgage payment to increase. We understand you have found other coverage but hope this explanation is helpful.

I opened a claim with Stillwater Insurance three months ago for what should have been a straightforward remediation situation. Unfortunately, this has turned into the most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered with any organization. It is truly beyond comprehension. When I first initiated the claim at the end of June, the agent assigned to my case was completely unresponsive ignoring both emails and calls. The generic "Claims" email alias was equally unresponsive. After multiple attempts to get in touch, I finally reached the agents supervisor, who informed me that the agent had gone on leave due to a family death and assured me that she would take over the case. However, another month passed without any communication. I had to track down this supervisor again, only to be told that the agent, ********, had been on PTO for several weeks and would now handle my case. Yet another month passed with no progress, forcing me to escalate the issue to the CEO and VP levels of Stillwater Insurance. The VP of Claims eventually responded, only to redirect me back to ********. When ******** finally contacted me, she dismissed the detailed report provided by my restoration company, which included precise measurements and mold reports, as "full of fluff." Despite my request for her to speak with the restoration company, who had been trying to discuss the extent of the damage and mold, she refused and instead sent me a check for only half of the estimated damage. As a result of Stillwater Insurance's gross negligence and delays, I am now forced to hire both an attorney and a public adjuster for what began as a simple water damage claim in my kitchen. The time lapse has led to mold growth, rendering my kitchen unusable for three months. This entire ordeal has been a nightmare. I strongly advise against using this company. Their process is not just unprofessional it is outright dangerous. Someone needs to review their practices immediately

Dear **********************, Were sorry for any communication delays you have experienced. We contacted the supervisor on your claim regarding your concerns. It seems the initial estimate we received from your contractor was almost double Stillwaters estimate. On 8/29/2024, we had a conference call with you and your contractor to review our concerns over the contractors estimate. At the end of the call, the contractor agreed to submit a revised estimate. As of this morning, 9/3/2024 we have received the contractors revised estimate, and it has been approved. The mold remediation estimate is still under review. We are committed to working with you and your contractor to resolve your claim and restore your property to pre-loss condition.

So, we have this claim that was opened three weeks ago, and I have been calling every day for three weeks. My adjuster appears to never be available (at this point, I believe that if try to talk to US president will be easier). I'm still waiting for the adjuster to come to my place and finish the job so the floor can be replaced. It is an embarrassing situation; no supervisor, no adjuster, no calls, no emails. 3 weeks, my apartment is a mess, 3 weeks without be able to work remotely due I cant use my office, 3 weeks calling everyday, everyday they ask for good phone number, they asked for email ... for what? Please ... this is not a good way to manage business, and can you imagine if someone ask, "Hey do u know a good Home Insurance to use?" my answer will be "I dont know a good one but for sure I know a bad one" ... frustration, thats the world about the experience with this company ...

Dear ****************, We have researched your claim to address your concerns. After our initial few calls with you regarding your claim on 7/18/2024, it seems the field adjuster was unable to contact you to set up a time for the inspection. Since we did not receive any response from you, the field inspector closed the claim. We learned that you spoke with the desk examiner on 8/16/2024 when you provided us with an updated phone number and the next steps were discussed. The field adjuster has been asked to set a new appointment with you and your claim has been reopened. The field manager has also been notified of the need to reopen the claim and set up the field inspection. The plan of action is to complete the field inspection and review the estimate for the repairs. Once the estimate is received, it will be reviewed and sent for approval for payment. We have also contacted the mitigation company to set up their payment. It is unfortunate the contact information was not accurate, and this caused some delays in the processing of your claim. Please be on alert for a call from the field adjuster so the field inspection can be completed as quickly as possible, and the claim process continue until resolved. We look forward to a successful resolution in this matter.

Horrible experience with this insurance company. They completely mishandled my claim multiple times with such consistency the only logical explanation would be intentional sabotage. Their communication was inconsistent and poor, they frequently lost my correspondence to them (both electronic and physical), every disbursement check they sent got "lost in the mail" (there were 5 total, due to their consistently incorrect assessments despite all the information being readily available to them). Every single step of the claim process with them was difficult and required correction due to their processing errors. Took over a year to complete the claim with them.

Dear Mr. Sanker, We have reviewed your claim and the notes in the file to address your concerns. Your claim date was 7/20/2023 and was reported to us on 8/6/2023. Last September we mailed a check to the property location for the roof repairs. We were not notified by you that you did not receive the check until November 2023, at which time we issued a new check. On December 14, 2023, you called us stating you lost the replacement check so we stopped payment and issued a third check on December 15, 2023 and mailed it to the property location. In January, we received an estimate from your roofer for an entire roof replacement. We then sent an inspector to verify the need for a full roof replacement; once received, we agreed to and made a supplemental payment to replace the roof. It was not until July 12, 2024, that we received photos to prove the roof replacement was complete. Unfortunately, the photos are from too far a distance to prove a full roof replacement, instead of repair, so we requested additional photos from you or your contractor so that we can resolve this claim and make final payment. We left a message for the contractor on August 16th to follow up on the request for additional photos. As of today, August 19th, we have not received any additional photos. Once the photos are received and we can confirm the roof was replaced, we will release the final payout. To date, we have paid $52,001.92 out to repair your siding and repair the roof. Please send us the additional photos so we can review them, authorize the final payment on this claim, and close it for you.
