I made an online agreement with moving company Navistar Van Lines to move my household goods (Navistar Job No.: Y2480011), and I paid a deposit of $1,278.00 on August 8, 2022 at about 11:20 a.m. Paragraph 8 of the agreement with Navistar provides for a full refund, minus a 10% fee, if canceled in writing within 72 hours after signing. After an investigation, I quickly determined it was in my best interests to hire a more reputable moving service and, pursuant to the agreement, I notified Navistar in writing via email at 5:20 p.m. on August 8, 2022, that I wished to cancel the agreement and requested a refund accordingly. I received a reply email from Navistar at 5:27 p.m. on August 8, 2022 acknowledging receipt of my refund request. I received no further response from Navistar. I have made multiple further requests regarding a refund, and to date, I have received no response or refund from Navistar. I am requesting help in receiving a refund at this time.Initial Complaint

My name is ******************************* and I am a disabled veteran, I had contracted Navistar Van Lines to pack and move all our goods from ********* ********** to ******* ********. The Estimate was created on 6/24/2022 for 6/29/2022-6/30/2022 with ***** ************ which he provided a reference no: y2473649, dot: *******, mc: ******* for the deposit amount of $3500.00. The deposit amount $3500.00 was paid on 6/24/2022 to ensure the movers would show up on 6/29/2022. On the day 6/29/2022 no services were provided, no phone calls were answered on the contracted end, and no attempts to resolve the problem were made because of which I had to spend more on extending our stay, other failed attempts to move the goods, and time wasted. I would very much like the amount of $3500.00 to be refunded and this problem be resolved.Initial Complaint

Date: 4/4/22; 1/18/23 Amount: $4778 What was committed: A move from **************** sqft home Nature of dispute: A contract was signed and a deposit was made in April of 2022 with the understanding that all of the contents from our home would not fit in one trailer, and that 2 would be provided. ******, the Operations Manager, assured me that if our calculation were off on the size of the move, it would be no extra cost to us, because we had the use of the second trailer. He also promised mattress bags and a TV box at no extra cost. When we were closer to the time of the move, Navistar requested a second deposit, even though that was not in the agreement. I paid. When we were a week out from the move I called to confirm space, TV box and the mattress covers. They said ****** is no longer with the company, that the mattress bags and TV box would only be available for a fee, and that if we went over on the space calculation I would be charged. I decided to cancel the move since the agreement had changed, and asked for a refund. I was told I would hear back within a number of days. I never got a call. I called numerous times over numerous days and my calls all were unanswered. I would like a full refund based on the fact that Navistar is in breach of contract and did not perform promised services. October 18th I contacted a moving company I found via ****** that had ratings around 4.2. I reached out to this company and got a call the next day from a man named ***** from Navistar Van Lines. We discussed our big items, furniture, the square footage, our garage, and estimated we would have 75 big boxes (shown in the email). He gave me a quote of about $3000. Unfortunately I don't have that form as they sent an email with a link that I didn't realize expired. I emailed him questions and he never got back to me. I called and that was the only way he would talk to me (didn't realize they huge red flag there). He called me a few days before the movers were going to come, I gave him more items and the price estimate jumped to about $6,000. The movers (who I didn't realize were hired by this "moving company") came on December 4th, looked at our place, and told us we have way more stuff than the estimate. They filled up the truck we already reserved which was only 1/3-1/2 of our stuff. Mind you, we already paid a deposit and had plane tickets to fly up and meet our stuff so we felt trapped. The new estimate was over $13,000 and we said no. They brought it down to about $12,000. All of our stuff was out of our house and now we had to sign a contract to get our items to *************. We felt stuck and both companies said bummer.Navistar van lines claims to be this moving company but just gave us the lowest fake price to get our deposit. *****, told us our stuff would be up to our house in 3 days. But it took 7 days and we were already back at our old place finishing stuff up. We feel like this company used our lack of knowledge and excitement for moving to get us to sign a contract and trap us and not care of the hardships this put us in. At the end of this, I went to give a bad review to Navistar Van Lines and when I found them, their reviews were horrible!! I never would have gone with them and I don't know how I got connected to them now. Please help!Initial Complaint

On 7/26/22 I was contacted by Navistar Vanlines to get a quote for moving. They provided a quote and I agreed. They then explained I would have to provide a down payment via a check. They would not allow me to use a credit card. The down payment was to be $1181. I provided them with this down payment. They then scheduled me a truck for moving day. It was supposed to be scheduled for 7/30/22 or 7/31/22. They said the driver would call the day before to schedule the time. On 7/29 I received a message from the company stating the driver would be arriving on 8/1. I called the company as I was supposed to be out of my home by the end of the month and we had agreed the pick up would be no later than 7/31. The caller said they had no drivers that could be there any sooner and pick up would be 8/1. On 7/31 I received a message stating the driver would be there either between **** am or 1-3 pm, the driver would call. On 8/1 I waited at my house until 3:30 pm. I had no calls, no text messages, no emails. I called the company to find out where my truck was. They said my truck had moved on as the driver had allegedly called and had no answer. I sent phone records to show I had no calls or voicemails and that I had been at my home all day and no driver had come. They said they could not get me another driver until the following week on 8/8. I agreed. They again called the day before saying they did not have a time and he could show up at any point. I waited all day on 8/8. I finally received a call at 4:30 pm from the company saying the driver had been in an accident. They wanted to reschedule again. I told them I could not as I needed to get moved as I was starting a job. They agreed to refund my deposit within 30 days. As of yet, 2/1/23 I have not received a refund. I have sent multiple emails to the company. They reported on 9/6 that the check was being cut and sent that day. Sent emails 10/6 & 12/17. No responses back and no check has been received.Initial Complaint

June 6, 2022, paid $5962.June 26, 2022, paid $8984.58 Oct 17, 2022, paid $3737 Total, $18,683.58 Navistar was to move our furniture from ******, ***** to **************, *********. They were to store it for 30 days. It was supposed to be delivered on July 27, 2022. We didn't have an address for them to deliver our furniture to so we rented two storage units. The units sat empty for two months. By the time they called to deliver it, we had moved into our house. When they made delivery, they didn't bring all our furniture. They told us it would be here in a day or two. This was in October 2022. It hasn't arrived yet. I called customer service and was sent claim forms for the missing and damaged items. I filled them out and sent them in with pictures. I later received an email stating that the moving company was not registered with *****************.Initial Complaint

On 5/31/22 I provided my contact information online to PODS to get moving estimate to move from ********** ********** to ******** ******. Immediately I began to get unsolicited offers for moving estimates by text and phone. I answered a call from Navistar because it was similar to a family member's number. *** begged me to listen to his offer, insisted it would be much cheaper than the Pack-rat reservation I had made. He said a truck unexpectedly had no cargo between ************** and ******** and we would have the entire truck. He specifically said we would have the entire truck. I was skeptical, however, he had me list every item in our home that we planned to move. He sent me a contract that listed every piece of furniture and an exact box count. He claimed and the contract stated that they would pack and unpack our items. Because the contract listed everything in detail, I agreed to use their company and paid $998 deposit. The day before our move, a representative from Navistar called to verify the list on the contract. On July 2, 2022 the moving truck arrived in the early morning. The driver asked to see our belongings and immediately told us that we would have to pay much more than the contract stated- double or most likely even more. I showed him the contract and he said that the amount of space we had been allocated could never hold the belongings listed and the truck was not empty as advertized by ***. They refused to transport our belongings for the agreed upon amount and left. I contacted *** and he refused to return our deposit. We had to scramble to make alternative arrangements.Initial Complaint

Bait and switch company. Do not use them at all cost. You have been warned. Quoted $1500 for a move, took a deposit of $500. The day of the move, jacked up the price to $5000!
