11/10/2024 I dropped off my car for breaking issues concerned about it being the transmission. I paid 150 for a diagnostic and not only after that could they not tell me the exact issue of the car, they quoted me at 1500 for labor without parts. My vehicle sat at their shop for 3 days without proper diagnostic done. After taking my car to someone else, a proper diagnostic was done and revealed my car only needed a new break sensor to fix the issue. When I called the company back to discuss I was told that upon coming into their shop I was initially profiled and therefore they knew beforehand they didn’t want to work with me and that I looked like I “wouldn’t pay.” The front desk woman named Kelly is the one who said this. Kelly also told me that my tears out of stress was childish and doesn’t work in the real world. I felt extremely disrespected by this business as well as feel scammed out of my hard earned money!!! Strongly do not recommend giving your money to this company ever.

    Dear ********,
Thank you for reaching out regarding your recent experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and want to clarify a few points.
We understand that you visited ******** for a diagnostic scan. However, we want to emphasize that ********'s diagnostics may not provide the level of accuracy needed for transmission issues, as our specialty lies specifically in this area. Additionally, you mentioned that *********** identified an internal transmission problem, which aligns with our assessment.
When you contacted us, we noticed you were understandably upset. We want to assure you that our mechanics are dedicated professionals who work hard to provide quality service, and we must compensate them for their expertise.
We suggested seeking a second opinion from AAMCO, as we believe it's important for you to feel confident in the diagnosis. We also offered to credit your diagnostic fee should you choose to return, but we understand you declined that option.
We take all customer concerns seriously and strive to provide the best service possible. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this matter, please feel free to reach out.
    Thank you for your understanding.
    Best regards,
    Mr. R.

On June 2nd I had my truck delivered to All Tech Transmissions in Largo to have my transmission rebuilt on my 2004 GMC Yukon. Due to financial hardships I had to make a payment plan with them for the amount due on my transmission. So I made payments and a few months later I was contacted that my vehicle was completely done. On October 30th I contacted all Tech Transmissions and inform them that I would be picking up my vehicle at that point I was told I need to bring cash to pay for the vehicle. I called them back on October 31st to inform them that I had the cash for the vehicle. I arrived at the transmission shop at 3:00 when I got there they would not let me drive the vehicle until I paid them so I paid them and went to my vehicle and the battery was dead, and it was completely out of gas which restraints to me because when I had it towed there it was on a half a tank. Once I got the vehicle started I tried to drive it out of the parking lot which it would not do so I tried to back it up for just started making Extremely Loud banging noises as I backed up. So I got out of the vehicle and went back into the office and asked him why the vehicle is running like that and they had no answer they tried to say that the computer on my vehicle for the transmission had went out but as I explained to them how could that happen if nobody drove the vehicle you told me it was completely done and now that I get here it's like you didn't do any work to it. I asked him what they were going to do to fix the situation and how I could be compensated for the extremely inconvenience of not being able to pick up my vehicle that day. I was told at that time that they would give me $60 for the Uber to my house which they did I called them the next day and was promised that the rental car that I had to get would be paid for by them for that weekend when Monday came they rescinded to pay for the rental. And at that point I was told to be patient with them they would try to figure it out.

Subject: Response to Your Recent Complaint
    Dear *****,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your recent experience. We appreciate your feedback and want to address your concerns.
We understand that the payment process took longer than expected, and we want to clarify that we did not charge any interest during this time, which is not typical in such situations. Our goal has always been to work with our customers, and we appreciate your efforts to settle your balance.Let us emphasize the date of May 31, 2024. It took you seven months to finally pay the balance. This is unheard of. No business would do this for you. What happened to all the nice words every time you missed making your contractual scheduled payment? You know that you told us you were going to remove this complaint, and yet you have not kept your word. Please keep your word.
Regarding the vehicle's condition, we noticed significant modifications, including the removal of a fuse and numerous wires under the steering wheel. This complexity required extensive repairs on our part. We strive to ensure every vehicle is returned in optimal condition, and we invested considerable time to resolve these issues.
While we recognize your frustration, we hope you understand that our team worked diligently to assist you despite the challenges. We value your business and are committed to providing quality service.

The customer initially brought in his work truck due to shifting issues. We proceeded to rebuild the transmission and replaced the torque converter as per the manufacturer's specifications. However, after we informed the customer about additional non-transmission issues that needed to be fixed, he left the vehicle at our shop for a year, occupying a lift. Subsequently, the customer's friend called from up North, and after negotiations, we offered a reduced price of $1500 to support him. We made it clear that our specialization is in transmissions, and we do not address engine or electrical problems. Despite our efforts to assist the customer, this job resulted in a financial loss for us.

He left it for a year but he had electrical issues along with his transmission issues. Gave him $1500 off and went above and beyond to help him for over a year. Did not charge him for the lyft he was taking up. He drove the vehicle hot and we advised he needed to take to a professional for engine and electrical but don't know if he did or not. Claims he had it rebuilt somewhere else. We are no longer able to help him any further.  His response makes no sense as to why would he have paid us if we did not provide the transmission work.

We contacted AllTech Transmission about a transmission rebuild for a transmission that was already removed & disassembled. We advised them what type of transmission it was, what vehicle it was for & the code on the transmission itself. They told my husband about ******* to rebuild. We dropped the ******************** off. Due to it being in pieces they were unable to locate pressure valve, which we delivered when they noticed it was missing. They told my husband it would be completed in 3 days. It took about 2 weeks as they said the transmission was for 2 different years (parts was 1999 & maybe a 1996). They said no warranty due to them not installing it. But that they tested it & all worked as it should. We installed it, it's first run it made horrible noise, gears weren't where they should be. Reverse was missing, neutral didn't work. We contacted them and they requested we bring it in. We did. First they said it was the neutral safety switch (nothing to do with the missing gears/shifting.) Then they said they forgot to install the rolling pin that was needed for shifting. The truck sat behind their building for almost 4 weeks before they called & said they forgot about it sitting there. We said forget it, we will come get it. Suddenly they rushed to check it & only took off the transmission oil pan and told us the transmission needed another rebuild that the reverse gears were welded together. Once confronted on everything, they denied ever saying they forgot the pin & instead had their builder get on the phone and say it was because the shift cable wasn't adjusted properly. They adjusted it but couldn't confirm it works (it doesn't). The male owner was rude to his wife every time we were there and she was rude to my husband ever time he had to talk to her. They and their builder had no idea what they were doing and ruined the rebuild then wanted us to pay again. They had us pay the balance minus the 900 deposit in cash.

The customer Called ********************** to inquire if we could perform what is known as a BENCH job. The receptionist informed the customer that since he was not ASE certified we could not provide a warranty on this bench job. We have performed hundreds of these types of jobs for other shops and Mobile Certified Mechanics and never once were there any issues. In this case the customer said he took the transmission out of the vehicle already and was calling around to find a shop that could help him because he was lost. Transmissions are the most sophisticated part of the vehicle. We specialize in transmissions. We were somewhat apprehensive about taking the job in for this very reason. Our policy does not provide a warranty in this type of instance which the customer was informed about several times prior to him bringing us the transmission already dismantled in a box. We agreed to help reluctantly because it is more difficult to install the transmission correctly than to take it out.  The builder rebuilt his transmission back to the manufacturers latest specifications. The customer paid less for labor. We informed him of the cost of the parts, after the builder inspected and tested all the parts, the customer authorized us to move ahead and rebuild it.  Unfortunately for the customer he did not reinstall the transmission correctly and he called us to ask us for a favor to look at it and see what was wrong with the transmission. We thought maybe it was the shift linkage or a neutral safety switch or something minor which we could address for him even though he had No Warranty. The problem turned out to be that he did not put enough fluid in the transmission nor properly adjust the manual linkage. It was a few quarts low which our professional certified builder determined afterwards. Yes, the truck sat here for a week or so because we were very busy and did not have a lift open. We did not have any obligation to try and see if we could fix the problem. We bent over backwards to see if we could correct his complaint with a minor external adjustment.
The customer needs to take accountability for not reinstalling the transmission properly, not adding the correct amount of fluid, and not adjusting the shift cable which we noticed was new when the vehicle returned to Alltech. Once our builder, who has 40 years experience inspected the problem his diagnosis was that the customer drove the vehicle low on fluid which is why the prognosis was the customer burnt up all the new internal transmission parts.

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

I appreciate your attention to this matter. Based on the information provided, it appears that the customers complaint stems from a misunderstanding regarding the warranty policy and the installation process.Lets break down the key points:
    Warranty Policy:
The customer was informed that a warranty would not be provided for the bench job due to their lack of ASE certification.
Alltech specializes in transmissions and has successfully performed similar jobs for other shops and mobile mechanics without issues.
Despite the policy, Alltech agreed to assist the customer even though we had no obligation to do so which is stated on his repair order. The customer acknowledged and agreed to these terms.
    Transmission Rebuild:
The builder rebuilt the transmission to the manufacturers specifications.
The customer authorized the rebuild after being informed of the parts cost.
    Installation Issues:
The customer did not reinstall the transmission correctly after taking it out of the vehicle.
Insufficient fluid and improper manual linkage adjustment caused problems.
Alltech attempted to address the issue even though there was no warranty.
    Accountability:
The customer should take responsibility for the installation errors.
The diagnosis suggests that low fluid levels led to damage.
In summary, Alltech made efforts to assist the customer despite the lack of a warranty. Its essential for the customer to recognize their role in the installation process. We attempted continuing communication to find a fair resolution. The customer decided to purchase a unit from a competitor.

    Sincerely,

    Alltech Transmissions

    Complaint: 21774993

I am rejecting this response because: they are focused on the warranty. I am not.  I am focused on the lack of proper work completed.  They fail to mention the security cameras at their location which allows recorded conversations, I recorded the last conversation with the business in which **** and his builder went back and forth on what the issue with the build was.  First it was the neutral safety switch,  when confronted with the fact that the neutral safety switch is only responsible for when and what gear the vehicle starts in,  they said oh. It was reiterated that the transmission was missing gears,  as in first was in place of neutral,  drive was in 2nd, neutral was missing,  and there was no reverse.  Then **** started that they had forgotten the rolling pin when we brought up that it was responsible for controlling what gear was where and getting the vehicle into gear.  When following up with **** about this,  he then back tracked and denied stating it.  He then blamed the fluid for being low (16 of 18 qts). He then said the transmission would need a new rebuild because the gears were fused together.  When confronted with that he put his builder on the phone,  the builder said oh no it was because the shifter cable wasn't adjusted properly but that he adjusted it and it should work.  But that they couldn't test drive it because the truck was stuck behind their building and they had no idea how to get it out.  They messed up the build and in fact told us that the transmission had two years a 1999 and possibly 1996 parts in it.  **** informed me that he lost several employees during the 4 weeks he had the truck (not a week or so as stated in their response).

As a former mechanic the transmission was filled to the full **** before starting.  Once started it was filled to the cold line.  Then shifted through the gears. It was then topped off with fluid and checked for leaks.  When taken on its maiden drive it worked ok for about 15 miles and then started acting up.  Truck was shut down and everything rechecked.  Nothing externally showed any issues, fluid level still correct.  Attempted to shift into reverse and that gear was "missing". After a few attempts at restarting and shifting,  the shop was called.  They requested it brought to them. We told them we could not have it towed, they said driving was fine.  Once we got there,  it had no park so the wheels needed to be chocked to prevent it from rolling down the side hill. It sat for a few days until they tried to move it behind their building to get it in the garage,  it got stuck and sat for weeks.  Then they started with the different problems until they got to it needed a new rebuild and they wanted to do it at the shop. We declined and started 3400 was already spent on this rebuild.  We would pick it up.  That is when they rushed outside to drop the transmission oil pan and added in the shifter cable issue.  They hadn't touched it since the day it got stuck,  2.5 weeks prior.

In this case I believe a refund of parts is warranted. They charged 900 (credit) in labor the day the transmission was delivered and 2500 (cash only) for parts when picked up.

    Sincerely,

    *******************************

    Attention BBB,

Thank you for your continuous support. We love our customers but cannot force them to be honest and not try and spread inaccuracies about the incident.

We ask you to Remove Tis Complaint Please, A.S.A.P

We are hardworking folks trying to do the best job at the most affordable price. All the complaints you are sent are just someone wanting to vent their frustrations because they were sold or bought or didn't take care of the vehicle. We are here to help them with payment plans, and many more options. Many customers just are venting, and we are sorry for their loss. A Loss for the customer is also a loss of **********************, and we empathize. Unfortunately, the builder has to be paid for his work so there is no excess monies for refunds. They got a special on the labor; unfortunately, every American family is feeling the pinch at the grocery store with inflation and likewise we recommend being active in the next voting cycle to get rid of this inflation. We do not talk politics we just want folks to understand the runaway spending in the government is something that we all feel at the gas pump, at the repair shop, at the most basic of necessities to live. Rents skyrocket, interest rates, etc.

We ask the BBB to dismiss these contrived complaints and please contact us for a rate increase because you have been very unfair to our loyal customers and happy folks working here.

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

Forgive the belated response to the complaint posted on 7/27/2023. It was just brought to our attention. This customer spoke with the service advisor and was advised that he or his wife
could drop their car off and leave the key in our drop box adjacent to the front door if it was more convenient. This is a common policy for Tow Trucks dropping off vehicles after hours or on weekends, and this policy is for our customers who want to take advantage of this convenience. This allows us to get an early morning jump start on the preliminary diagnostics. Unfortunately, in this case, the front intake office closed early, and the customer wanted to get their vehicle back which was no problem. We believe that after the customers dropped the vehicle off, they read the BBB rating and lost trust and confidence in Alltech Transmissions. We recall this incident but do not have any paperwork since we did not do anything for the customer's vehicle. It has been a while so

    Please Close this Complaint ASAP.

On May 30, 2023 I called Alltech Transmission that my transmission was broken and that I needed to get it fixed and I asked Kelly how much it would cost, she said they had a special for $1,395. I asked her if that would include the torque converter, she said yes that they would rebuild it if it was needed. I asked her if that was included in the above price to which she replied, yes. Kelly stated I can bring the van in so I had it towed that morning. The price to diagnose the problem was $149 which would be included if the repairs were completed by Alltech. The following day Kelly called to inform me of the diagnosis. Transmission needed to be rebuilt and she can get it done faster if I paid $1395 today. I needed my van for job/income so I paid the $1395 to Mark as he drove to my home to pick up the funds. The work order was never provided to me prior to work being done on my vehicle instead Mark gave me a memo with a 6/31/2023 date on it. On 6/01 Mark calls to say he needed another $2800 to fix my van. I told him I already paid for you to fix my van according to the "special' you had and this doesn't seem legal.I felt I was being hijacked by them if I didn't pay an additional $2800, so I gave in & paid it. When I went to pick up the van and road tested it with Mark  it was not shifting properly. Mark stated "it was all in my mind" and that I had a one yr warranty so I can leave it with him. I no longer trusted him or his company, forcing me to take my van to another mechanic to fix it properly.I took it the next day to Advanced Auto Technology who diagnosed the problem. They found the planetary assemblies had chewed teeth marks and the drum had marks from the band slipping. These items were reused not replaced as they should have been. Now, my van is running smoothly costing me an additional $2349.71 with 3 yr/100,000 mile warranty. I'm satisfied with Advanced Auto Tech. There is so much more to this but unfortunately I am running out of characters.

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

Forgive the belated response, we just became aware of ************************* complaint. He also attempted to take us to court by showing fabricated pictures from a competitor and altered
invoices that dont show the MV number of the Other Shop. Our attorney wasted half a day going to court and ************** did not even show up because he knew that he was fabricating the paperwork and his experience. We do not accept personal checks, so he requested the service advisor take him home and drive him back to obtain a different form of payment. He fails to mention we gave him a 15% discount of $400.00 in the interest of customer satisfaction.

The facts about this job are simple. He had a work van that had an internal transmission problem which is why he paid $1395.00 for the rebuilding of his transmission. The parts are never included in the labor. We do include software updates and a warranty. If the Van was malfunctioning it does not make common sense for a person who was financially struggling to pay the balance for his completely rebuilt transmission. Then for him to suddenly decide to take it to a competitor and pay for the job again sounds illogical especially since it is our fiduciary responsibility to ensure the transmission is performing properly. He never brought it back complaining of these problems. We wish Mr. **** all the best.

    Thanks in advance,

My ******* Santa Fe 2015 Awd broke Down on 12/30/22 and I was looking for a shop that could fix my car as soon as possible, I Spoke with ***** (which is a fake name her name is ******), and told me they were running a promotion of (As a Bait) $995 dollars for labor, I asked them over and over how much would be the worst case scenario for cost parts, which the said that part would run between 800-1000. Which I founded reasonable! I tow and drop up car on 12/31/22 and over the phone the promise that even though it was new years eve he has ordered the transmission kit need it to fix my car. On Monday the January 3er I went there and even though I have given then the correct information they a Switch and charge me $1395, because she did not know it was ALL wheel drive, The said the could fix it by the end of the week so I paid $1395.***** start asking me that how I was going to pay for the remaining $1000 and I said that I was going to look for a loan and I was sure I could get the money by Friday or Saturday when they promise they would have my car fix. She offers me to apply for a loan with easy pay that offer a 90 day no interest, and I notice she apply for $5000 even thou till that moment I would only owe $1000 dollars, I got approve for $2600. The next day on 01/04/23 she call me in the morning and told me the total on parts was $2600. I decided to continue with then and signed the finance company papers. And after that it was excuses and excuses, I would call daily and between 3 person ******************** and ******(same as ***** ) I had all the lies that you could think of but the didnt have the decency to coordinated them. After that I started to research this company reputations and I have found hundreds of horrendous reviews explaining step by step the bait and switch I have suffer from this company.

******************************* called 12/29/2022 complaining of a Transmission problem on his 2015 ******* SanteFE. He stated he was calling ** after conducting immense research for a reputable transmission rebuilding company. He stated he needed his vehicle back ASAP. The service advisor told him, that we could expedite his Transmission rebuild if whatever parts needed were readily available by our direct Vendors. He seemed very eager to tow in his vehicle to us so we could get started. He stated he had already had the transmission diagnosed but did not trust any local shops up in the ****** area to perform the quality work we do.  He stated he was looking for a shop like ours who specializes solely in the Rebuilding of Transmissions. We were running a holiday special which was explained to him in detail. Different vehicles cost different amounts depending on labor hours and the configuration of the vehicle. We received the Vehicle on 12/30/2022 and immediately performed our Preliminary diagnostic as promised. We put him ahead of other customers who did not need the vehicle back as quickly as he did. The service advisor emailed him a standard ******* Repair Order agreement. He came into the shop and signed it. He read and signed our IRON CLAD contract and provided a copy of his drivers license for authorization to proceed. The Repair order explains in the disclosures that we are committed to working as fast as possible; however, we do rely on ordering parts which in this business sometimes can get delayed. We finished rebuilding his transmission and during the final checks the builder discovered he would need three extra parts which were on backorder. We ordered them immediately as soon as we found out. **************** continued calling multiple times a day and seemed to become very disgruntled about the process. We were always very apologetic and empathetic. In fact, after he was quoted a price on the total costs of the parts, he told us to order the parts, and he would pay for the balance through a third-party financing company. We helped him get approved with them and have gone above and beyond to please him.
Unfortunately, the front office staff contracted COVED-19 the first week of January which caused us to very apologetically close the front offices so we could comply with Coved-19 Regulations. The shop Technicians and builders continued to work on all the vehicles at our shop. We kept communications open with all our customers and found that out of 48 customers he was the only one who felt like we wronged him because we got sick. The secretary went in to deliver his vehicle last Friday when she had just gotten out of the hospital, and she waited for him. He texted her that he refused to pay more than $500.00 as a balance on his vehicle. He started threatening her, calling her names over text messages. She left after feeling very dizzy. The mechanics reported that he called the police. This is a Civil matter.
If **************** wishes to resolve his balance and pick up his vehicle,we urge him to do so immediately. We aim to please our customers.

This response was taken verbally by BBB:

The customer was never charged or told he would be charged $7,062.00. The total came to $5,402.40 which breaks down to:
    Parts: $2,938.00
    Torque Converter $398.00
    Labor $1,395.00
    Automatic Transmission Fluid - $318.00
    Tax 353.43
    Total: $5,402.43

The customer paid $3,995.00 leaving a balance of $1,407.43.
When the customer originally called us and came in he was advised that we would not be able to provide exact pricing until the transmission was diagnosed and removed to determine what was needed. We also needed to price the parts from our suppliers. The customer was called several times with updates and verbally approved the estimates, per the signed work order. When the work was completed, the customer refused to pay the balance. Per our rights, we placed a bond on the vehicle for $1,600.00. This included the balance owed as well as storage fees. The customer finally paid the bond and picked up his vehicle. We also attempted working with the customer and offered a $700 discount, but the customer requested a $1400 discount which we were not agreeable to.

On September 6, 2022 I had my vehicle towed to Alltech transmission. I spoke with *****, she informed me over the phone that this business was running a pandemic special of ******* for labor. I explained the problem to her as I was told by two other transmission repair shops. She informed me that the parts for transmission to be replaced to factory specifications it will be no more than **** for parts and **** for labor. I had their tow company all day and night towing retrieve my vehicle from Aamacco transmission, where I was quoted a price of ****. I informed ***** of this and she replied it will be **** for us to repair your transmission. After car was towed the price went up each time I called to check on my car. The final price was given and I told them I did not want them to do the work for almost ******* and I wanted to pick up my car and my down payment of ******* I was informed by ****(I think that is his name) that the **** would not be returned. I felt as if I had no choice but to continue with repairs. This was unprofessional and customer service is not in interest of the customer. Please contact me for additional comments and invoice.

Unfortunately, the $2500 estimate provided was with the car unseen, and undiagnosed. The customer was a lovely woman. After the ***** Removal Dismantle & ****************** of the internal transmission components, revealed substantially more damage than a basic rebuild price. In addition, one of the parts she needed was not serviceable which means the part that was required was not available as a single part. We had to purchase the whole assembly from the dealer. This part alone cost more than $800. Customer complained that she couldn't afford to pay for the whole part, so we were very kind and offered to split the cost of the part with her. The customer agreed to pay for half, and we paid for half. We had no profit on this part. We ask the customer to appreciate the great quality job we did. We have not heard any complaints about our workmanship; rather, we just here complaints about the cost which is beyond our control as far as every transmission cost is different depending on the damage, and the cost of the parts. We wish our lovely customer the best of luck!
     Sincerely, The Alltech Transmission Team
