Carrier has by far the most unethical business practices Ive ever seen or experienced. I purchased a 10 year old home which has Carrier HVAC and Heat Pump installed. They no longer manufacture this system or the parts for it. After reaching out to a certified dealer, they told me they will not work on my system since they did not install it. After a second look from a non-certified dealer, they told me to cut my losses because when it breaks its going to be bad and to move to ********** mini-split instead. When speaking directly with Carrier- they told me they are unable to provide product details or comparability for their own manufactured products and that I need to reach out to a local dealer with questions. How can a large corporate company who manufacturers **** not answer questions about their own systems or devices? Could you imagine ***** telling you to talk to Best Buy or ******* for details on their product? Thats exactly what they are doing, placing liability on others for their own manufactured systems and products. Im a phone call away from hiring an attorney, considering estimates to replace my system are well over $30,000.Carrier Corporation Response

Dear ******* *****,
Thank you for contacting the Carrier through the Better Business Bureau.
Carrier is very much interested in seeing that the equipment we manufacture performs well. Before any component is selected to become a part of our products it is subjected to rigorous factory testing and we fully expect those meeting our specifications, with proper maintenance, to give many years of good service.
Carrier Corporation is the manufacturer of heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment; we go to market through a distribution channel. The distributors, in turn, sell our products to dealers and contractors within their territories. The distributors, dealers and contractors are all independently owned and operated businesses.
Please be advised that we do not facilitate the direct sale of parts or provide part pricing directly from the factory. All replacement parts for homeowners are available through our network of esteemed local dealers.
It's essential to note that each of our dealers operates as an individual, independently owned, and operated entity. We do not govern their business practices. For liability reasons, some dealers may choose to sell a part only if they are also responsible for the installation.
If you're unfamiliar with the dealers in your vicinity, please feel free to contact of office at ************** and we would be happy to provide a list of dealers in your area.
Thank you,

Buyer beware!!! We have been long time Carrier customers and had been very satisfied so after Hurricane **** we needed to replace 2 units, one for upstairs and another for down. Our 1 unit upstairs outside has been an issue. It is 4 or 5 years old (there is a 10 year warranty on parts) and we have had multiple issues with it. Paid for service, been without AC for several weeks at a time, multiple times. We have no issue with our installers, they come and have been very gracious to try and get us up and running. This last time was was a full 6 months without AC, we live in *************. We were awaiting a part, first delay was beginning of April...waiting, May, June. I spoke to our installers and asked If I could call directly, stopped by distributor in *****, and finally emailed Carrier and started "the process". We had bought fans, mobile AC units and lived in hot humid conditions for weeks at a time and now for months. Our daughter has Non-******* Lymphoma so I was trying to navigate this stupid situation back and forth from *********** in *********, the rest of the family living in the heat. Finally, a full 6 months later Carrier replaced the entire outside unit. We however had to pay the installation, $1780. We of course paid it immediately, our service people deserved to be paid, they did the work. I reached out repeatedly to the customer service people via email as they had requested and no response. I finally reached out certified mail to president and vp of the company. This escalated to the management response team who came back with the legal contract that protects them. Sometimes there is a difference between being legally protected and doing the right thing. Carrier chose to not. I was not asking for all of the back service charges, only the installation charge for new unit, I had already paid this. So in you don't mind being without AC, paying multiple service charges and installing a new unit every few years...BUY CARRiIER..NOT MEReview from Kristen H

June 7, 2024 we had a Carrier heat pump installed (model #PH5SAN43000A). The first part of September 2024 we had a unit failure. My husband went to the local dealer where we were told we needed a licensed HVAC installer to order parts for service and it would cost us $75 to fill out warranty paperwork. So we set about getting everything in order. This Monday, September 30th the weather finally cooperated to install the compressor. Turns out the failure wasn't the compressor, but instead the reverse. Now we are again waiting for parts for the repair. At this time the only parts that will be original to the unit will be the fan and housing. We were denied a new unit that could have already been up and running, instead we have been at the mercy of this company and mother nature. I would like to believe that companies stand by their products and want to give good customer service. We have been very disappointed with a major purchase for our household in a time when everyone's budgets are tight. $9000 was no small sum for us to hand over for a product we apparently can't have confidence in.Review from Mark S

I bought a new ** system for my 1700 square foot house in December of 2024. I live in the ******* area, I did not turn the ** system on till April. It is a 5ton unit, all parts are new ** / heater . The system has broke down 3 times since it was installed. The installer will not answer me calls or text. So I called Carrier Corp and I get no response from them either.....Carrier ** systems are made on ****** with 3rd world country substandard parts. These ** units are junk, and I would not recommend them, and the Carrier tech support is less than helpful. I am sure it is because of the constant phone calls with customers complaining about their inferior **********************.Review from Jing M

Carrier's warranty is a fraud! Do not trust them. My husband and I spent over $50,000 to install a brand new carrier high efficiency system. At the time of installation we were promised with 10 year manufacture warranty for parts and five year for labor. We were very happy because we thought by buying the more expensive units, we would receive better customer service. Two years into it, one of the sensors broke and we called a local Carrier authorized installer. The sensor is probably cost $20-$30 to replace off market. However even the part was falling under the warranty, the local Carrier dealer wanted to charge us $436 for it. The dealer said the charge was for "Freight and Warranty Charge". When we called Carrier directly and asked why they would allow dealer charge $436 for a warranty part. They said they are just manufacturer and they have no way to tell how much their authorized dealer is going to charge customers for their warranty. They also said they do not stock any items that could ship to the customers directly for warranty! When you call the company, it does not matter whom you spoke with, this is the only answer you are going to get.! So Carrier does not do warranty for any of its products themselves, and nor does the company honor its warranty through their own authorized dealers! To get their warranty, you might as well just buy the parts yourself because their dealer will charge you for 10 times more price for the item. Stay away from Carrier if you can! You will be much happier with other cheaper alternative brands in the market once you run in to trouble with your machines and have to use warranty or customer service. You aren't getting any of that with Carrier!!!Carrier Corporation Response

Dear **** and ******** ******,
On behalf of Carrier, I am very sorry to learn of the problems you have experienced with your equipment.
The warranty Carrier provided on Model: 25VNA460A0030040 & Serial: 3120E01608 is a 10-year limited parts only warranty from the date the equipment was installed for the original owner. The manufacturer warranty does not include diagnostic fees, labor, refrigerant, maintenance, etc... The labor warranty was provided by the installer for a period of time as determined by them. Typically, the installer will review with the homeowner options to purchase additional parts and/or labor coverage.
Should you require repairs under warranty, we recommend engaging a licensed HVAC technician with an account at a Distributor. This ensures that the technician can efficiently file warranty claims directly with their distributor to cover the part cost. Please be aware that we are unable to reimburse homeowners for parts if the technician does not meet this criteria.
I have checked our warranty records, and your dealer has not filed a warranty claim, we would recommend contacting your dealer and requesting the file a warranty claim for the cost of the part. Once a claim has been filed, we would recommend asking for an itemized invoice to ensure you were not charged for the part.
Thank you,
**** *****

I bought a Carrier unit 4 years ago and a part went out. THE COMPANY HAS REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY Because I did not buy the unit directly from the distributor. Yet they accepted the registration and is on their site to show it is under warranty; and was installed by a licensed contractor. I called the company to speak to the escalation team and was told by Wilesha they leave at 430pm EST and there was nothing she could do for me and I would need to call back tomorrow. The was no one else in another office to speak with in the whole **. I also spoke to a ******** who disconnected the call and left me speaking on the phone. I then sent an email to the company and it has been over 24 hours and I have not had a response. I sent another email. Wilesha told me she did not know why they did not respond and could be they are back logged. I have a 77 yr old husband, 2 children and 4 dogs. I have been trying to resolve this issue since Monday and Carrier has refused to respond. My 3000 sqft house is 100 degrees inside. I have been in this situation for 5 days. My contractor tried to buy the part outright and was told no due to the warranty dispute. I will make sure my experience will be heard by many.Review from Boris N

I purchased a carrier 3 ton AC heat pump in April of 2023 in June of 2024 the heat exchange coil busted. I had ars the installer of the system come out and checked the unit and said that they were going to have to order the part. About 2 weeks later *** called and informed me that the part was on back order and it would be 101 days before they could get it. That meant that we were out of AC for the whole summer. This should not be possible for a company as large as carrier. Is there anything that can be done to rectify this?Carrier Corporation Response

Dear ************,
On behalf of Carrier, I am very sorry to learn of the problems you have experienced with your equipment.

The distributors, in turn, sell our products to dealers and contractors within their territories. The distributors, dealers and contractors are all independently owned and operated businesses.
Should a part not be available at the local distributor, your dealer would place an order (PO) with the local distributor, and in return the distributor would check within their local network to see if they have the part, if not they would place an internal order with the manufacture/factory for the parts in question.
We have contacted the local distributor where your dealer placed their order based off your case response (********). Once we have obtained the factory order, our parts team will begin expediting your dealer's order.
Our team will provide emailed updates directly to you from your existing customer service case.
Thank you,
