Wow, how do I even start this complaint. We booked through Travelocity and thought we were getting a quality rental car company. Instead this was the worst experience we have ever had. To start we had to take a shuttle off site about 8 miles from the airport, which was not mentioned nor was it easy to get to there location. Once we arrived, we went inside this building that looked like it housed crackheads. We went inside and one female lady was sitting behind the desk and tried telling us and about 10 others we had to wait for someone to arrive. About 5 minutes passed and a male entered and asked how he could help. We advised we had a rental to pick up and asked for drivers license and credit card. Which was normal. Then asked for insurance we bought through the site. I should him what we had and he said that was just liability and I said I also had personal insurance in ******** and he wanted proof of it with a listed group he excepted. Being from ******** we have something called Hartford for good drivers and he would not except it and wanted us to buy more insurance and get a ***** a day toll pass. This individual was very rude and hostile and kept demanding everything. Was not professional, polite and understanding to anything we were trying to ask questions about. Finally, my wife and I said forget it and cancel our rental we had paid for in advance for 3 days. We than had to Uber to our hotel another ***** dollars and arrived at an **** location and got a rental within 15 minutes and the staff was very friendly. Once at the hotel we called Travelocity and wanted to complain and ask for them to get our money back, We were told they tried and was told ZERO REFUNDS for late cancellations. Even though it was their fault we cancelled. I would not recommend EVER RENTING FROM GREENMOTION.....EVER. Worst Company I have ever dealt with. F minus and I hope the BBB takes action against this company and gets some of our money back.

I had the same experience as reviewers below. I pre-paid for a 5 day car rental through Expedia for my wife at the Green Motion Tampa Airport location. We confirmed 5 days in advance of the planned rental (8/2/24). Pre-check-in per their request. Similar to the many other reviewers, the trouble started when she went to pick up the car. We discovered this next level insurance scam. Posted on the wall of the rental office, was proof of insurance requirements of $300,000 Liability ************************** coverage on our home auto insurance. There was no notice of these terms when I scheduled and paid for the rental.Green Motion refused to rent my wife the pre-paid car rental, unless we paid $200 more for insurance coverage. I have never ever been requested to submit proof of insurance coverage for the many cars I have rented. They demanded to see a copy of our insurance declaration sheet. I dug it up and immediately emailed to my wife. We had the $300,000 for liability but only $100,000 for property damage. Then the insurance scam began. $200 more on a $127 rental for extra insurance or NO RENTAL. Mandatory requirement. No option to decline. Company policy posted only on the wall of the rental office.Fortunately, the rental car was solely for my wife's convenience, for driving around town, while visiting her family. We said NO TO THE **** and canceled the rental. Now it remains to be seen if we get refunded the original pre-paid rental fee that we paid to Expedia. We certainly will not be compensated for wasted our time and expense, driving to go pick up no car. Car rental companies are notorious in trying every sales tactic to squeeze extra $$ out of you but this one takes the cake. I can only imagine the hardship for any unsuspecting out of ****** renting a car on vacation. This company should be called out on this bad unfair business practice. DO NOT RENT FROM GREEN MOTION. BUYER BEWARE

HORRIBLE!! Scam artists!! They make you reserve with no possibility of a refund, they charge a $2,000 deposit (that a lot of people have a hard time getting backOne person has been waiting for over a month) if you use your own insurance, also have to have $350,000 worth of coverage. They were not clear about not being physically located at the airport. They get you in at the low rate, then when you get there you either pay for their insurance or youre forced to use your insurance with the previous mentioned issues. I ended up having to walk away from my reservation money because I wasnt paying a $2,000 deposit and I did not get a refund for a five day rental. Money down the drain. They also give you cars that have not been maintained or tags out of date. Also extremely unprofessional! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

We booked a rental through Economy Booking for Green Motion. Upon arrival we were told they would not accept our insurance and we had to purchase liability insurance. We have never had to purchase liability insurance before for any car we rented through other companies. They had a sign on the counter that they only accepted insurance from a few companies, State Farm, Liberty Mutual, Geico, Allstate, Esurance, Progressive, USAA, Farmers and Nationwide. We have Hartford. Since Green Motion Car Rental is not located at the airport and we had to call to have them pick us up, we were stuck because we had no means of transportation. For 3 days they charged us $161 for the insurance. When we brought back the car, no one was at the site. We kept calling and no one answered. Finally, about 20 minutes later, the lone employee for that day showed up. He looked over the car quickly and then we were on our way to the airport. Very unprofessional and definitely a rip off company. Stay away and go with the well known companies.

Scam Fraud Scam. Do not rent from here please. Save yourself from all the trouble they put you through. Book somewhere else. I rented a car for 3 days and did not purchase insurance since I was using my own policy. ****** that calls himself a manager told me I will have to purchase insurance from them if I still need to rent from them and the price was $320 on top of what I already paid for the rental. Its a scam and they might be pocketing the extra funds stolen from people that need to get on the road asap. My suggestion please rent from somewhere else. This company Green Motion should be shut down as soon as possible.

These SCAMMERS should be shut down. BBB please do something about these fraudsters. Similar story as others. I arrived in Tampa airport early morning of June 1, 2024. I prepaid for 4 days car rental from Green Motion. It took me over an hour waiting for them to pick me up and shuttle to their off airport location. Once on-site, Green Motion refused to rent me the car unless I paid for their overpriced insurance which would 3x the total cost of my rental. They claimed I didn't have enough liability insurance. But I have up to $300,000 liability insurance. Apparently, even this wasn't enough because the property damage part of insurance was only up to $100,000. I have rented cars about 100 times in my life from every one of the major rental companies. No one has ever tried to pull something like this on me before. This requirement was also not mentioned in any of the rental terms on my voucher from economybookings.com which intermediated my purchase. This put me in a bind since my rental was pre-paid and the terms said it was now non-refundable. I saw that none of the other customers met Green Motion's $300,000 property damage liability insurance requirement either and were either forced to pay for extra insurance (I think it was at $40/day) or potentially not get their pre-paid rental money back and still have to last minute rent from someone else. I refused to play their bait-and-switch game and I asked for my money back. Green Motion told me they couldn't give money back since economybookings took the money (how convenient for them). I then had to fight with unresponsive economybookings and did a credit card chargeback to get my money back. Baiting people with really low prices and then forcing them to pay for overpriced insurance by springing requirements that no one can meet is a lowlife scam tactic. Green Motion needs to have business license taken away. I hope no one else gives them business ever again.

On Travelocity this car rental company is listed as on site - at TPA. They are a 7 minute drive from TPA. We called for the free shuttle and it arrived promptly. We were asked for car insurance and since we did not have $300,000 liability coverage they insisted we buy it @$124. They also wanted to put a hold of $2,000 on my credit card for damages. I had booked a non-refundable reservation with them. We walked out and rented with Thrifty at TPA. They did not ask for proof of car insurance and put a hold of $200 on our credit card. I just phoned my credit card company and filed a dispute. They credited me in full for the non-refundable reservation. Aside from horrible reviews on the BBB check Yelp for more. This company is out to SCAM anyone they can!!!!!!

Is zero stars an option? I used Economy Bookings (which I will NEVER do again) to reserve a vehicle from this fly-by-night, rip-off joint. I reiterate what ************ says below: "Once transported to location far from anything, told that I needed $300,000.00 property damage insurance or I couldn't take the car". I have USAA insurance and have rented vehicles all over the ** and ****** with no issues. The customer service rep (I use this term loosely) at the rental counter said I would need to cough up an added $150.00 for my four day rental in addition to my prepaid amount. I had him transport us back to *** and rented from **** instead. For prospective customers of *******************************************... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
