Attempted to use the pay service and got charged immediately for $40 but it went right back to the cart. I no longer plan on using this service as it took $40 from me and I no longer trust it. Apparently I have to call to get my money back for something I never got?

    Business Response

    Hi *******,

Thank you for reaching out. Since you only completed the application without signing the agreement, the $40 authentication is a temporary hold, not an actual charge. This hold will automatically be removed from your bank statement within 3-5 business days. According to our records, one of our representatives addressed this matter with you on 11/24. Please dont hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns.

I am rejecting this response because I wasn't even presented with an agreement to sign. Your system took my info, and my $40 and ended the process with no explanation. Stealing $40 and giving it back is still stealing.

    Sincerely,

    Hi *******,
Attached is a screenshot highlighting this part of our application process, where we clearly outline that authentication occurs before the lease agreement is signed. We understand your concern about the hold, which has already been released, and we have also explained the purpose of the authentication. To clarify once morethis is a temporary hold, not a charge. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

I originally took out 3 loans with Uown Leasing in 11/2022. I have since been unable to keep up with those payments and have been paying off one of them via a legitimate collections agency. However, Uown contracted a company which does not have any record of existing to collect on additional amounts, and threatening to sue for additional payments. They state to be from the "****** litigation department" and to be direct representatives for Uown leasing company. I have received many phone calls to family/friends (with information that was never provided to them). They are continuously providing harrassing communication and stating that Uown will sue for the amounts owed. I am currently on a payment plan for with the other collection agency, and have made all of my payments. Uown does not seem to want to provide me with additional details when I call regarding this. They state that the account has been "sent out" and they no longer have record of it. Thankfully, I kept all of my original contracts, and in those contracts, it states that Uown would not pursue legal action on customers outside of general arbitration. However, they have allowed this company to call and harass their customers without providing additional details or support! The company has not followed proper ***** regulations, and I proceeded to report that "litigation department" along with Uown to the **** to try to protect others from their actions. Considering this is happening to others (as referenced in other BBB complaints) I would like to request Uown and BBB fully investigate these practices and request for these calls to cease from the companies that they are contracted with as they are in clear violation of consumer protection laws. I would like for the company to reach out to me directly via phone call to discuss how we can resolve this as I have already been paying on this account with another agency. Thank you.

On 6/26/2024 I made purchased from ******************** in ******************************** Complaint#********. I refuse the delivery because the store delivered the exact furniture that I saw on in the showroom that I told them it's to big for my residence. The salesman then show me another furniture in the catalog stating it's the smaller version to the showroom set. Upon delivery the next day the salesman sent the very furniture from the showroom that I told him cannot fit in my bedroom. I refused the delivery, but the salman the saleman via the delivery men phone attempted for 30mins to force me to accept this delivery to keep the oversized furniture. The delivery men while back and forth removing the severql boxes of unwanted furniture from my home, immediately took off leaving one box which at that moment I assumed they simply forgot it. I immediately called the store several times to let them know that the delivery guys forgot one of the boxes. But to no one answered. I went to the store the very next morning and was meet by the owner and the saleman his brother which I explained what was the mixed up with the delivery. That is when I was informed by the owner with an apology that the bedroom is order does not come in a smaller size that was shown to me but he wants to come to my home and make the order that I did not purchase fit inside my home. I refused and they refuse to pick up the headboard that i now realized was intentionally left in my home. I was forced to hire a delivery truck to return the headboard back to the store since the removed the 2dressers, foot board, tv and TV stand was return the same day by the delivery guys back to the store now these saleman and this leasing company are continuing to victimized me by attempting to collect payment and reporting my credit as delinquent after complaining to them on several occasions about the transaction and no compliance from any of these businesses

I was going to place an order through Flex Shopper and Uown was going to finance the purchase but I didn't complete the purchase and they stole money from my account without my consent. I want my money back that they stole. I am not going through businesses like that again

    Hi ****,

The $40 authentication is used to verify that the card is valid and has funds on it - it will fall off of your statement in 3-5 business days. We want to clarify that we are transparent about this step in the process. We will void the authentication and cancel your application.

Started new lease agreement with them today and they stated I had to pay $40 00 like a deposit until the lease was signed and it would be cleared back to my account. Except I read where they have done this to alot of people. They should be honest instead of using lying tactics about fees. This occurred on 11-16-24

    Business Response

    Date: 11/18/2024

    Hi **** -

The $40 authentication is a temporary hold, this is a part of our process to ensure the card is valid and has funds on it. It will fall off of your statement if you do not go through with signing a lease agreement. Since you did go through with the purchase, it was captured as the processing fee as outlined in your agreement (see attached).

They claim that customers satisfaction is their number one priority and they have the best reasonable prices. Both false. They wanted to charge me triple the cost of my loan. My loan was $4500 and they wanted to charge me over $12k! Im not satisfied and that price is not reasonable. I was able to pay it off but I am not satisfied! There are several complaints that are from unsatisfied customers. The whole business is such a scam and should be investigated.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/08/2024

    Hi ******,
Thank you for your feedback - we'd like to offer clarification for you and answer any questions you may have.
Firstly, we do not set the prices of the merchandise you choose. We are not the manufacturer or the merchant. We simply pay for the items on behalf of a consumer and offer them an installment based lease to own contract.

In the contract, we are fully transparent with the payment options. 1) pay a 90 day same as cash promotional payoff, in which you pay nothing more than the price of the item(s). 2) a discounted early payoff of up to 30% off the contract balance beyond the 90 days or 3) pay the full contract balance.

Your claim that our company is a scam and attempted to charge a higher price is incorrect. The installment amount, number of installments, and full contract balance are expressly written and initialed by you (attached). This concern appears more related to understanding the contract terms than our level of customer satisfaction.

Were sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction, but we want to emphasize that weve provided service exactly as outlined in the agreement. At Uown, we believe in offering accessible purchasing options for everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. As with any contract, its essential to thoroughly review and understand the terms, and we respect each consumers right to make the choice that best fits their needs. For many, Uown offers the most reasonable path to acquiring goods without upfront costs.

I tried to order tires today 11/3/24 it sent me to this leasing company which charged me $40 but when it came up for me to sign the contract it just disappeared & I was still charged the $40 without even signing anything or purchasing tires. I just want my money back because I couldnt even purchase my tires so I spent $40 on nothing, which definitely doesnt help with my tire situation.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/04/2024

    Hi *******,

The the $40 is an authentication charge to make sure the card is valid and has funds on it. You can go back to the Tire Agent website and go through the application process again - your information will populate as you type. Please make sure pop-up blockers are disabled - once you sign the application, your $40 will be fully captured. If you do not want to go through with the purchase, please let us know.

The this service to purchase tires. I made several payments outside of my payment schedule to insure that I had the balance paid off before the end of 90 days. I made an additional payment on 10/11 to payoff the total balance. I called and emailed and didnt hear back for several days. When I got on the phone with a representative on 10/23, the lady told me the total balance was not covered and the total I owed on the account was different than what the contract states. She told me if I wanted to pay off the account early I would need to pay $196. Afterwards I checked my account and the pending second charge was refunded and I didnt authorize.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/28/2024

    Hi ********,

We're happy to help clarify any confusion on this account - we only received one payment of $44.28 on 10/11, which was not enough to close the account. The receipt for this payment indicates that the payoff at this time was $46.02 to complete the 90 day promotional payoff. We understand there may have been difficulty reaching us, so we are happy to honor the original payoff amount to close the account if you can pay today.

I was browsing through ******* and noticed a cell company advertising $1 down for a smartphone and decided to see what it was all about. Since it was out of state, I had to use a finance company and chose UOwn. After everything was done, I received my lease agreement and the phone was shipped within a couple days. During that time, I received notice from my landlord that my rent going up after this month after my lease ended to over double what I had been paying all year. Since I am on a fixed income, this meant I needed to cancel subscriptions that weren't necessary and bring down my monthly expenses as much as possible. Once the phone arrived, I printed a shipping label and sent it back to The Phone Guys and let them know I was returning the phone and for what reason. They messaged me when the phone made it back to their store and told me I had to pay a ten percent restocking fee before they would cancel the lease agreement. I was not aware of this restocking fee until after the sale was completed and the way it's worded means the restocking fee is discretionary and not mandatory. The next day they send me an email stating the restocking fee is now 20 percent which comes out to $250. This is something I'm disputing with The Phone Guys and between me and them. I emailed UOWN three times now about this matter and sent them copies of the email showing the product has been returned to the merchant and no longer in my possession yet they have not responded. I called to find out what was going on and was told my account is still active and the first payment due on the 25th of October. I no longer have this phone and the cancellation of the lease should not require me to give someone $250. Uown can call the merchant and confirm this or read my emails. There is nothing in the lease contract that says I have to pay any cancellation fees from UOwn or the merchant and I want the lease cancelled. I have included a copy of the email showing they have received the phone.

    Hi Harro,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for providing proof of return. Weve gone ahead and canceled the account. We understand your frustration regarding the restocking fee; however, this fee is set by the merchant and beyond our control. We recommend continuing to address this matter directly with them.
Please let us know if theres anything further we can assist with.

I have a signed contract with you on leasing for $1100. I recently found out that theyre charging me 1900 which is not what I was approved for nor would I asked for considering my purchase was only about $896. No one at the company will answer me and explain to me why that charges are this way now on top of that about two months ago I broke my hand and lost my job. Ive called the vendor and set up payment arrangement multiple times which has been ignored to the point they are now calling me from different numbers, pretending to be different businesses Harassing me multiple times of the day Im receiving about 20 phone calls a day even though Ive called three times this month alone to set up a pain range and let him know what was going on and as the hand that was broken was my dominant left-handed is now permanently injured. Its a permanent disfigurement so its taking me a little while to get work , please get these guys to explain me how Im paying nearly double with the contract I signed for us and why they are allowed to pretend to be different entities to contact me even though Ive already sent up payment arrangements and three times a month and keep in contact with them and have been making the payments as Ive stayed $45 every few days its the best I can do

    Business Response

    Date: 10/14/2024

    Hi *********,
Thank you for reaching out and giving us the opportunity to clarify your lease agreement with Uown.

First, the lease agreement was signed for 56 weekly payments of $33.23. The total cost and payment terms were acknowledged and initialed by you (please see the attached document). We do offer a 90-day promotional payoff option, which allows for the same as cash amount, but unfortunately, this was not paid by the expiration date.

As of today, you're eligible for a settlement which is a significant reduction in the remaining balance. We'd be happy to work with you to find a solution that fits your financial situation.

Regarding the calls you've been receiving, all calls from Uown are made by our agents on a recorded line, and they will always identify themselves. If this is not happening, those calls are not from Uown and are not affiliated with us. Since youve expressed concerns about these calls, we've gone ahead and removed your phone number from our call list.

We understand that youve previously set up payment arrangements. However, as our agents have explained, if a payment is declined, calls are initiated again to help re-arrange the installments. Please let us know if you'd like to call in to discuss the settlement offer or if you'd like a supervisor to reach out to you.
