These guys offered me 8000 less than what they told me to get my car in to them. They held my car for 3 days outside and put 3 very large stickers on my car and a paint stick all over my window that wont come off. They removed my insurance and registration and every thing from my car and told me they threw it away. They were very rude and unconcerned. Would not recommend anyone do business with themBusiness Response

Mr. ***, we are sorry we couldn't come to agreement on price and YES we did adjust the price down from the original offer by $5300 because the inspection revealed that the transmission in your 2007 *** has a hard shift. We purchase $150MM+ in vehicles each year and have been in business for 12 years. Never in our history have we been able to resolve a hard-shifting transmission without a complete rebuild. It is a terminal symptom of transmission failure and older ***** are prone to these type of mechanical failures. While we understand this is an unpleasant surprise, it does not change the facts. Regarding the inspection time, we needed additional time to perform a comprehensive mechanical check which took an additional 3 days due to scheduling. It is something that is unavoidable on older high-line European cars which are prone to premature mechanical failure. Your vehicle was in fine shape cosmetically, but the required repairs warranted the price discount which we couldn't predict until the inspection was performed. Best of luck with your vehicle.

This company made an offer to purchase my vehicle for *********. I took my car to their shady third party inspection facility, where my car was for a week. My car is a 2019 with ****** miles and was in immaculate condition. They did the old bait and switch and said there was damage and changed their offer to ********. I rejected the offer and asked to pickup my vehicle, I was made to wait 3 days before I could get my car back. When I got my car the interior was trashed. There are black oil stains on the white leather seats, a ***** in the leather on the drivers seat. They took my ****** weather tech floor mats and put them in the trunk, and ground what appears to be sticky asphalt into my carpet. Of course no one knows how this happened, or will do anything to remedy it. I had to file a vandalism claim with my insurance in hopes to get my car repaired. At the least I want them to cover my ****** deductible.Business Response

CarbuyerUSA.com made me an offer of $31,525. They asked if I could take my car to be inspected on 8/31/24. It is now 9/7/24 and I have not been provided an update or been paid. I asked if theyre not going to hurry and send paperwork that they allow me to go get my car back and have been met with zero response. As each day passes Im losing money on my car. I just want my car back at this point.Business Response

********************,
We sincerely apologize for the significant delay in inspecting your vehicle. The process took longer than expected due to a mechanical check conducted by our third-party vendor, which added an additional 5 days to the timeline.
We now have the completed inspection reports and are proceeding with the purchase. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding throughout this process. We will be processing your payment within the next ***** hours.

I received an online offer from CarBuyersUsa. And then, ********************** of car buyers USA contacted me about their offer. Then he said they just need to do an inspection. So this company picked up my car on Wednesday of last week to take it to ******** for an inspection since their mobile mechanic wasnt available. Then ***************************** contacted me by phone on Thursday with the inspection report. They made a low ball offer and I said return my car. Then he made another low ball offer, I told him what I wanted to receive for my car. Then he says there may be another option but first he would need to speak to his team. I was waiting to hear back from them if they were going to agree to my price or talk to me more about the other option. I didnt hear back. I sent an email on Friday requesting a response, because I needed to move on if they werent interested. I heard nothing. I asked them by email to return my car so I can get it sold and to reply to my email. I havent heard a thing. And they havent returned my car. I do not have a contract with these guys and my car is sitting at the ******** facility. No response from them. They have no rights to the car, no deal was made, no agreement, no contract was signed and I just want my car returned in the same condition it was in when they picked it up. Mannheim is a dealers auction and not a place where anyone can just go and pick up the car. I am involving the police at this point.Business Response

********************** vehicle was inspected by a 3rd party facility as part of CarBuyerUSA's normal operating process.
Images of the detailed inspection are attached.
Ms. Chapmans vehicle has *******+ miles from 3 previous owners and 4 accidents. Typically vehicles with this type of usage and ownership history are below average and the inspection facility graded this vehicle at 1.8 our of 5.0 Maximum. The facility documented $4000 of excess wear & tear and damage (see attached). There was quite a bit wrong with the vehicle and it was in sub-standard condition as the report shows. We were unable to transact with ****************** as she was not amenable to a pricing adjustment (post inspection) which she is not obligated to under contract.
The vehicle was released to ******************. No further assistance is warranted or offered.

I had a contract to sell my VW , Passat to Carbuyers online. I took pictures and signed an agreement with them for $5126. That was on July 11, 2024.They picked up the car because I couldnt drive it on July 12,2024. I had transferred the tags and I dont drive out of town. The money was supposed to be sent to my bank account. I received a call today July,13,2024 informing me that the offer changed to $4,000 after taking it to ********* from **********,Tn. The representative knew I couldnt get the car back and wouldnt even tell me where it is. They basically stole my car. This is a scam how can they do this legally? I think they should bring my car back or stick with the original offer.Business Response

****************,
We are sorry that you are not fully satisfied with the sale of your vehicle to CarBuyerUSA. Initially, the information you provided to us was for an R-Line Passat which was worth several thousand dollars more than the actual trim level. After we explained this mistake you agreed to a purchase price of $5159 which was formulated upon images you provided from a self-inspection. We accommodated you in transporting the vehicle to our facility for convenience at our expense. After the inspection, $1451 dollars in damages and excess wear & tear was found and we presented an adjustment which you agreed to and signed a revised purchase agreement for on 7/26/24. It is not true that we misrepresented or tried to scam you. We are very transparent about our process and you were under no obligation to accept an adjustment of any sort but chose to do so willingly and legally consummated in a digital purchase agreement. This is legally binding and enforceable in the State of TN.
We thank you for choosing CarBuyerUSA.

All CarBuyerUSA Personnel are trained to instruct sellers to remove all personal property from the vehicle prior to drop off. This is clearly outlined in the purchase contract you signed December 29, 2023.
While we are sorry to hear about this issue of the plate being used in another state, we are not responsible for any events related to negligence on the consumers behalf. We would suggest that you report the license plate as stolen immediately with the State of TX DMV.

The vehicle in question was purchased by CarBuyerUSA and fully funded 5/17/24 according to our files. This purchase was rather complex and we encountered title issues, a moderate accident with functional damage and a lien with negative equity. There were several moving parts that made it difficult for a quick transaction outside of our control. There was a price adjustment due to accident/wear & tear items and some friction from sellers side which we can understand. The seller opted to finish the transaction voluntarily. We regret that the experience was less than satisfactory, but all of these things are out of our control including delays for interstate title / lien release paperwork.

I was recently looking to sell my 2001 Dodge Dakota truck & found this site online. Initially, I was provided a decent offer to sell to them based on the information provided. This included the *** number that would allow for a complete history on the vehicle. I was offered a very fair price. Upon the final offer, I was quoted $350 on the basis that I believed the truck didn't run. ***** arrived to collect the truck-with no inspection prior provided before pick-up. It did run & had fewer miles than Car Buyer USA anticipated. With that, I reached out to Car Buyer & informed them that the original information provided needed to be amended. From that conversation, it was implied that a new offer would be made once the truck arrived for inspection. Contrary to other reviews, this should have been done prior to my releasing the truck to them. A new contract was not sent over, nor was a new one signed. Which I thought would be necessary based on the other previous offers that were amended. A few days passed & I was called back with an offer of $200 despite the truck being in better condition that originally described. I advised that was not a suitable offer, as I had been offered cash by the tow company driver. ***** Blue Book estimated the truck is worth much more than their offer. At this point, they offered to raise the price back to $350 or advised that I would have to pay their cancellation of sale fee of $500. To me, this feels like a bait and switch tactic. Once they have your car in their possession, you're at their mercy/discretion. I've had to deal w/several people, all w/different contact information. They are insisting that I provide the ********** banking information so that the sale can be completed. I believe these are unfair & undermining business practices. Car Buyer can revoke the purchase at anytime, the seller has no recourse. This feels like extortion, give up the title or pay them to release your vehicle back to you.Business Response

What is the agreement they are talking about? The original offer of $2250? The reduced offer for what was supposed to be a nonfunctioning truck of $350? Or the call I made to renegotiate because the truck runs and is in fair shape according to ***** blue book for at least $1000? They already tried breaking their own contract by offering $350 and then sending a reduced offer of $200. I already told them that $350 is not enough, especially since that was before the tow guy got it started and before their own inspection which apparently was supposed to be done here at my house from what I recently read.Business Response

On March 31, 2024 I contacted *********** re the sale of my car. I gave *********** info re the car (pictures, etc) and they sent me a shared document to sign with an amount they would offer based on an appraisal. I was told (****) that my car was to be taken over an hour away to be appraised and at the same time I was to send the title by Fed Ex. Once the car was appraised, *********** would then confirm the amount they would pay (they would not guarantee I would get initial offer or any amount). I talked/emailed to **** re my concerns that if the company did not offer the amount suggested in the initial document that I had no car and/or title. When I checked BBB reviews, I noticed that other customers had identical concerns and therefore told **** I was uncomfortable with the process and at the same time questioned a clause mentioning a cancelation fee of $500. He said (on speaker in front of my wife) that I would only pay the $500 if *********** agreed to pay the initial offer after the inspection and I refused to accept the offer. At that point because I was so uncomfortable I told *********** (*******) I didn't want to continue and he said congrats. Today I received an invoice for $500. I spoke to ***** on the phone to ask why I received he invoice. He described a very different process ( inspection at my house and me keeping the title until I received the money) than I had with Carbuyerusa staff. He said if I did not let him send someone tomorrow to inspect the car "he will pursue the collection of the $500".Business Response

************,
On 4/1/2024 you signed a contract with Car Buyer USA. Included in the contract was a cancelation clause which you initialed.
Therefore, your cancellation cause the contract to be in default and resultant fee to cover expenses.

I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for getting back to me in response to CarBuyerUSA. I would like to make the following points to clarify the situation.
1. When *********** originally sent me the document by email and asked me to sign I was on the phone with **** and told him, I could not see the language in the document and he told me "no worries" just sign an initial keep going even though I couldn't see the document. I did not actually didn't see what I had signed until it was completed.
2. I talked to three different people at *********** and each one of them told me a different story about how the car would be processed. This made me feel the deal was not legitimate.
The first person I talked to was ****, who informed me that the car would need to be shipped to ***** Texas and then I would have to ***** the title BEFORE they would tell me how much they would pay me for the car. **** would not provide any guarantee of the amount I would be offered for the car (including the amount in the contract). I raised the issue of the $500 at on a phone call (my wife was on the call as well) with him and he told me that only if they offered me the money that was in the contract and I refused then I would have to pay the $500. He DIDNOT guarantee money in the contract at any time in my discussions with ****.
3. Because I was uncomfortable sending the car and the title without any guarantee. I offered to take the car locally to have it assessed and they did not agree to that. Again this made me feel like it was not a legitimate offer.
4. I was not comfortable sending the car and the title without any guarantee of what they would pay me and when I checked the BBB website there were many people who had complained about the same thing so therefore did not did not proceed with CarbuyerUSA.
I let ******* know that I was not moving forward and had sold the car locally and he said "congrats".
5. At this point ***** called me and gave me a different scenario than I had been given by ****. Shortly afterwards I received the invoice for the $500 and was surprised because *********** had not guaranteed the amount offered in document I signed so I did not feel there was a legitimate offer made by ***********.
Sincerely,

************,
You are a very smart man. I don't need to joust with you through BBB's customer response portal. We invested a lot of time and you executed an agreement which is legally binding. You subsequently then, after executing the said agreement digitally, sold the vehicle to another party. There is a cancellation fee for default in the contract sir. If it was your intent to sell to another source, you should not have entered into our process, negotiated and executed an agreement to sell the vehicle. We are legally entitled to collect on the said fee per our agreement and we intend to do so - if necessary by legal remedies.
If you wish to discuss further please email ******************** I am the owner.
Thank you !

I am rejecting this response because:1. The "$500 clause" does not apply here since you did not offer a firm price. In fact you said it yourself that "I cannot give you the price till I examine the car.
2. You did not incur any costs (such as sending a tow truck etc.) as I have canceled it a few hours after I signed. In fact, you are spending more resources via the BBB site than you spent on buying my car
3. I consulted with my lawyer, and she said that "you have no case" and that this is "a frivolous claim" on your part
Sincerely,
