On 3/29/21 our father’s home had an electrical fire. He escaped uninjured but had to relocate. On 3/31/21 he signed the ROBARB, LLC dba SERVPRO of CR contract. The owner & project manager assured us that they could take care of all storage, cleaning and restoration in 6-9 mos. Sadly, it took 32 months! Dad passed on 10/1/21 and never returned home. Many promised completion dates. Delays required 2 insurance claim extensions. Our sister who purchased the home had to reapply for mortgages due to rate lock expirations. Interest rates increased over 2% by closing. Project manager seldom on-site. Multiple subcontractors were used. Original wood trim errantly disposed. New moldings were milled & we were billed. Family heirlooms lost in storage. Damages to family heirlooms with White Glove Movers. Leak in ceiling drywall due to improper plumbing install. Side entrance secured by pole for 2.5 years before new door was installed. Our own subcontractor finished paint/drywall work. GM sent final invoice and said interest would accrue if bill was not paid within 30 days. We waited 32 mos. for completion! 56% increase in costs from initial dwelling claim estimate to actual invoice. Final invoice was 18% MORE than actual assessed value of house. Before signing a contract have an attorney review it. Create a service agreement addendum that states completion dates and monetary penalties for failure to meet those. Demand subcontractor's contact info. Confirm their availability & work history. Demand credentials for those as signed to you. Demand to see all SERVPRO invoices AND proof of payment to subcontractors. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Dad came from a generation that trusted people to follow through with what they said they would do and would have been demoralized by what transpired. SERVPRO may tout themselves as a one-stop shop specializing in rebuilding and promising to return your property to like it never even happened condition but be prepared for a calamity. The ****** family

Consumer beware! This company (RoBarb, LLC dba ServPro of Cedar Rapids, Iowa) represents itself as a “General Contractor” for fire, flood, storm damage, etc. - reconstruction work. Their local advertising rants “Like it Never Happened” in their pitch, but you may want to think twice before engaging them with any insurance claim work. We contracted with them on March 31, 2021 to repair/reconstruct our fire damaged, family home. We were advised by the owner and project manager that the project would take 6-9 months to complete. As of today, July 10, 2023 the project is still not complete and we have no assurance when it will be. We have been forced to request two claim extensions from our insurance provider in order to account for RoBarb’s continued inability to complete basic plumbing, electrical, framing, HVAC, drywall, etc. Relentless inquiries regarding a completion timeline have been with blatant disregard. Our review can be supported with email exchanges between us and RoBarb, copies of “failed” and “partial pass” city inspection reports and photographs/video of the property over the course of the past 27 months. This company has no business acting as a general contractor and it is unethical that they do. They lack general construction knowledge, a subcontractor base to support what they claim they can do and most importantly, they have no one on staff (that we have met) with the skills or experience required to act as a reconstruction project manager. It is shameful that our experience with a “local” company resembles what many experienced with the “out of town” operators who preyed on our community after the flood of ‘08 and the derecho of 2010 —- those that the BBB warned us about. Interesting how a BBB search inquiry for ServPro Cedar Rapids fails to garner any results or accreditation. Guessing, there might be a reason…..you’ve been warned.
