  In Sept. 2021 I, my brother and my sister drove to Bell Monument in Cairo, IL which we had found on the internet to order a headstone for our mother's grave which is located in Charleston, MO. We chose this business because it offered reasonable cost and was close to the gravesite. We told them what we wanted, they drew out a diagram we approved, and we paid and left to wait until it was delivered and set up about 10 weeks later. In the spring my sister went to take photos of the headstone and sent them to myself and my brother. When I saw the photo, I was shocked. They changed the stone ( we ordered gray granite, they used pink granite. A free upgrade they generously gave us, they said.) NOTHING on the stone was centered as we expected. Our mother's name, dob and date of death were in a letter box all the way over near the right edge. Her photo, which was supposed to be floating on the right side of the letterbox, was perched right on top of it looking like an oval egg about to roll off a table. A dove that was supposed to be floating on the left of the letterbox level with the photo took up a large part of the left space left by the letterbox being jammed way over to the right and a phrase, Walking With The Lord, which was supposed to be centered under the letterbox, started even with the dove's tail and ended about 2 inches short of the right edge of the letterbox. And the border (blank space) on the right side is only about 1/2 that on the left side. The whole piece just looks awful. See photo below. They made these changes without contacting us or attempting in any way to get our approval. They just delivered it and left it there that way. Now another Monument company has told us that this Monument was one that sells for $950 and we were charged $1550.

  The local family in Charleston MO , with whom we have communicated , is well pleased with the memorial and says the additional configuration of a cloud balanced the dove in flight further ... we provided the Hedquist Pink granite at no additional charge to highlight the design pattern ...

  I am rejecting this response because:
  My sister answered them without consulting myself or my brother who paid 2/3 of the cost of this Monument. I sent them further feedback telling them the addition of a cloud on the left would not suffice. I have since sent them a letter outlining why it would not satisfy and informing them of our plan to seek legal redress.
