I never took out a payday loan.I first received calls from "Cashnet" saying I took out a loan back in 2016 for $800. That I started paying it back and then stopped. They said they were suing me and that I would be arrested for failure to pay. At this point I figured it was a scam. I accidently answered a couple more times.Today, using a "local" number they said they were a lawyer, and I was being sued. That my income tax would be taken and that they have spoken to my employer who agreed to let them garnish my wages. I now owe $5000. They had my social security and driver's license numbers but the account number with my bank was incorrect. Also, the address they gave was from 2009.I believe this to be fraudulent.Business response

I was contact via phone in regards to a loan application that I submitted, by ***************************** of CashNetUSA at ************, or at least he said he was from CashNetUSA. ******************** said I was approved for a $5000 loan but because my credit score was low, I would have to agree to their terms and conditions. He sent an electronic check for $650 to my checking account. He said that when the money posted to my account, I needed to then send the money back, to help raise my credit score. The next day, May 11th, he contacted me saying that I had to send the money back thru a barcode that he text to me for a ******* account, which I did; I have the receipts to prove it. I called him back to confirm that the money was sent, and I text him the receipts, and he confirmed it was received. He told me he would be back in touch on Monday to arrange for the loan. At that time, something wasn't right, so I didn't answer the phone. On Wednesday, May 15th, I checked my bank account and a stop payment was put on the $650 check, and the money was deducted. Not only did I pay the money back thru the ******* bar code, stopped payment and took $650 of my legitimate money. I filed a claim with my bank and am filing a police report.Business response

I have never used this company. I have a collection agency reaching out to me about an unpaid loan. CashNetUSA gives out loans to people without looking at their government issued IDs and social security card. It baffles me how you can hand someone you've never seen money. Now I have to deal with identify theft and CashNetUSA is out a couple thousand dollars. The first time I called customer care, they would not give me information on this debt collected in MY NAME on MY CREDIT without a picture of my state ID and social security card, however, apparently, they will handout money to someone without either. I guess I should call, say my name is *************** and take out a loan in his name to pay off the scammed loan in mine. The second time I called, the staff was kind enough to tell me the bank name in which it was deposited. When I looked up the bank, there are currently no locations in my state and the bank had many complaints about being used for identity theft. CashNetUSA will do nothing about it because they sent "my" debt to a collection agency, which means my credit will be ruined as I doubt a collection agency wants to help me versus collecting money. CashNetUSA needs to be more thorough when handing out money. I get the high payday interest charge they collect negates the money they lose to scammers, but they should conduct proper checks before handing out money, because the victims, like me, a pregnant woman, suffer and have enough stress as is.Business response

I took out a predatory loan. I lost my job and couldn't pay. I have only received a few emails in which I explained my situation. At first I didn't receive any response. I messaged someone who said they worked for the company in question, the told me to pay $200 up front then changed it to $150 when I stated that I was barely surviving. I then got contacted by another attorney who said I had to pay only him and would have 24 hours to pay over 2k to avoid court. The loan I took out was for under 500...600 at the most. He threatened ne and told me to get a lawyer. I was trying to work with them and try to pay next month. They are harassing me. They have sent me any letters or called. I have only received a few emails over the course of the year.Business response

Thank you for forwarding this complaint. We take all complaints seriously and make every effort to implement a fair and satisfactory resolution.
As an initial matter, CashNetUSA is a licensed financial provider. At all relevant times, our lending and interest have complied with applicable State and Federal laws.
On November 28, 2023, Ms. ***** opened a $1,400.00 limit Flex Loan with CashNetUSA. Before she entered the agreement, CashNetUSA disclosed the terms and conditions of the Line of Credit including the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for Cash Advances, Paying Interest, and Fees. ************** then signed her loan agreement acknowledging that she understood and accepted the terms and conditions associated with the Flex Loan. The fees and interest applicable to a cash advance were fully set forth in the loan agreement, a copy of which was provided to her (via email) when she opened the account. In addition, ************** signed an automated Clearing House (ACH) authorization, allowing debits and credits to be made to her bank account.
In addition to disclosing the charging structure from the outset, we keep our customers informed by supplying periodic statements. Amongst other loan details, the due date, minimum payment amount, and account balance are shown on each periodic statement.
Since establishing the line of credit, Ms. ***** has requested one (1) cash advance.
As set forth in Ms. *****s Flex Loan agreement, interest will be charged each day on the principal that is scheduled to be outstanding. There is also a customary fee that is based on the daily principal balance and the number of days outstanding during each billing cycle.
As set forth in Ms. *****s Flex Loan agreement, she will be required to make minimum payments every billing period she carries a balance. The minimum payment will be 5% of the Principal balance in addition to the accrued interest and customary fees.
At this time, Ms. *****s account balance is current and she has made timely payments. Please note, payments are applied to interest first. ************** has the right to make a payment in advance and in any amount on the loan agreement at any time without incurring additional charges. If a customer only pays the Minimum Payment they will generally pay more interest and it will generally take longer to pay off their balance than if they make payments in excess of the Minimum Payment.
Based on our review, Ms.*****s account has been managed in alignment with the above-referenced Agreement and we are unable to honor her request of altering the account balance to consider her account balance as paid in full. Our records indicate that ************** has contacted our customer service department inquiring about her line of credit. As such, she was advised of the aforementioned information.
If Ms. ***** has any additional questions regarding this matter, we ask that she please contact our customer service department at ************, Monday Friday, 7:00AM 8:00PM CT or Saturday 8:30 AM 5:00 PM CT, Sunday, 10:00AM 6:30PM CT.

I am rejecting this response because:I am not denying the manner in which cashnets pays out requested loans. Nor the amount I borrowed. But in his statement he mentioned that I could call cashnets customer service and speak with a representative to have all explained and expounded on. Untrue. I called and spoke with 3 customer service reps of this establishment. It took 3 attempts to finally get the understanding that I had made an agreement with a predatory loan company. All questions asked were like pulling teeth to get the answers needed. Second and 3rd rep made me aware of the daily fees and the final person I spoke with explained that cashnet would be deducted funds from me until 03/19/2025. None (cashnet associates) could explain why account is being assessed fees on account that is timely paid on amount being requested to pay.
I have received multiple emails and correspondences from this business to further accept funds I am approved for. I have not, and will not. As stated, this loan was a 1 and done.
Sincerely,
