I am writing to file a complaint against Hostway, a web hosting company, for deceptive billing practices and harassment tactics.*Background:For decades, I have been a loyal customer of **********************, utilizing their web hosting services. However, in recent years, I have experienced a concerning decline in their service quality while they simultaneously increased their annual fees. The provided email service was outdated and lacked proper security measures, leaving my inbox vulnerable to a constant influx of spam emails, including a significant amount of pornographic content. The sheer volume of spam messages severely hampered my ability to receive legitimate emails due to the limited mailbox size offered by Hostway.*Deceptive Fee Increase:There was an option on the Hostway website to increase the mailbox size, but it only offered a minimal increase and made no mention of any associated fees. Despite the lack of transparency, Hostway charged my credit card $25 the following month without my authorization.Dispute and Harassment:*Upon contacting Hostway to resolve this unauthorized charge, they refused to issue a refund. Consequently, I closed my account and disputed the charge with my credit card company. Fortunately, the dispute was ruled in my favor. However, Hostway has since resorted to harassing me through multiple emails, falsely claiming that I owe them $25 and threatening to report me to collections. These tactics are not only misleading but also constitute harassment.I have attached a copy of the most recent email from Hostway for your reference.Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Date of Transaction - 3/10/2024 Amount: $129.50 I cancelled a service with the business but they continued to charge me. I called them to get a refund but they would only give me a partial refund. I have not used their service because the service I was using was for a company that dissolved on 2021. I had called to cancel the services approximately about 2-3 years ago. I never received a confirmation of the cancellation, and I know I spoke to their chat support. In addition, I know I spoke to someone about the charges but they are reporting that they have no records of such. They are stating that was never done, and do not want to refund me the $129.50 that I am requesting. Technically they charged me wrongfully since Feb 2022 - for more charges but at this moment I just want to deal with the current charges (last 90 days) since it was done on 3/10/2024. I have also escalated this issue with my BANK, and it is under dispute. See emails below sent -Date: Tue, Apr 2, 2024 at 12:25PM Subject: Fraudulent Charges - ********** To: <********************************>, <********************************>Hello,I am reaching out to resolve fraud charges to my account from **********************. I would like to get a response from your representatives in regards to charges that have been done to my credit card wrongfully. Back in April 2021, I reached out to Hostway to cancel my account, and other services to stop the charges. See reference number below. Unfortunately, nothing was done and I have been charged for services since. Today 4/2/2024 I called once again, and requested for a second time that the account be cancelled and to stop charges to my account. I also requested for a refund for the charges done fraudulently to my card on 3/10/2024.I am reaching out to Hostway, for a refund for services charged from February 2022 to March 2024. Hostway has been using a credit that is no longer active, and they do not have an authorization from me, nor an updated credit card to make the charges. Hence these charges have been made wrongfully. I am reaching out to you so you can refund these charges, and resolve the issues. Please refer to the conversation had today with your representatives - Reference# ******* ************************ Department Manager - ************ await a response within a reasonable time.Regards,***************************** ---------- Forwarded message ---------From: Hostway Technical Support <********************************>Date: Sat, Apr 10, 2021 at 7:02PM Subject: How would you rate the support you received? To: ***************************** <*********************>

Hostaway is an awful start up! I do not get the support we need even though we pay our monthy dues. I am a managent company and the staff deleted 1 of my listings which had the financials, automations, and calculations. I have been trying to speak to management for 1 week now with no response. They screwed up and no one is stepping up to help. I have to report financials in 3 days to my client but have no support. This is my business and my name on the line here.

There has been a credit amount on my account for more than 5 years. When it comes time to renew my annual subscription (under $20.00), I get the run araound from these people about applying what is due to the open credit. They have had NUMEROUS excuses. Nontheless, if you goto to their site to pay, and select Pay Now, there is nothing due. You can see that Current charges is .00.So, I leave it. Bu, then, I start getting harrasing reminders, and twice in the past they have shut down the domain for non payment. They need to apply the outstanding credit to the current amount due and mail me a check for the difference so that the credit amount zeros out. I am seeking a billing adjustment and a refund

Hostway manages our domain and without telling us did an email migration to their new platform. Due to their migration our business email has been down for 5 days now and no one at Hostway can give me an estimated time when it will be back up. Our business runs on email and we have not been able to send or receive emails for 5 days now.

      Business response

      11/12/2021

Issue was we could not complete the migration for one of the mailboxes of the drsakhrani.com ************************ due to authentication failure on the source/old environment. For this reason we had to keep email delivery on-hold on the new environment to avoid any risk of potential data loss.

Once the authentication issue was resolved, weve completed the last mailbox migration and enabled email delivery of the entire domain on the new environment. All inbound email in the meantime was queued (not lost) and delivered at that time.
