I have attended this school with no issues until these last semesters. From telling me I require tests ,that I paid out of pocket, for clinical sites that I have verified were false. I have submitted information months ago for my last clinical site and was denied before the next session. I have already lost money paying for sites. I have submitted new information for a clinical site which I have paid money to and if I don't get approved I will also lose that money. There is no help with clinical placement. I have emailed various times with no response.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I have submitted prior documentation for this site and done all the compliance and vaccinations required. I have contacted the site and they have provided all paperwork to me. I have lost my own money trying to apply to this site since I first submitted the application months ago. Thank you.

I have reached out to academic support as well as ELC regarding my registration for my next class. My cases I have opened to get a response have been closed without resolution. I was told once that they are verifying my clinical site but I have been with the same preceptor at the same site for all of my Practicum classes. I have requested answers as I do not want anything to delay my registration in turn delaying my completion date. As students we pay a fee each semester for ELC services and we are not receiving timely responses.Business Response

There is zero accountability for the incompetence of Chamberlain Universitys *** department, and their NP students are suffering greatly. *** wont take phone calls and will not email in a timely matter. My original application for my hospice rotation was turned in on time; however, due to the lack of communication with the *** department, I was told late that I would have to choose a different clinical site. I submitted a new application and was told they would work on it, and I could start class in July 2023 as scheduled. Unfortunately, this was not the case. They did not handle my application on time and purposefully set back the process by asking for a drug test. When I spoke to the clinical site, they stated they did not need a drug test. I had my drug test submitted and completed within a few days of request; however, *** noted that I could not start the class and had to sit out until the contract was reviewed. This setback has dramatically affected my financial situation since I cannot work and has significantly impacted my financial aid. I submitted everything that was requested weeks ago, and I am still not approved for my class. Multiple students are having this problem; the only excuse is that they are short-staffed. It doesnt make sense that they are still taking on students. When are they going to stop contributing to the suffering of their students? If this is not resolved, I will report to the higher education board of ******** and seek legal advice along with the rest of my peers.Business Response

I am receiving Chamberlains response to the complaint on August 6, where is the miscommunication within the *** department and why am I still not registered since they received the completed contract on August 2.I understand that class does not start until September. Chamberlain University requires us to submit applications for clinical placement 6 weeks in advance before start of semester. I submitted my application well in advance in June. I havent heard any updates nor has my preceptor so I reached out on July 10th for an update. I was ignored. I then reached out on the 14th, the 17th, the 21st, the 25th. I reached out to the ****, ***********************, on July 18th, then July 26th. ALL of my emails and calls have been ignored without any form of communication or update on my application. This is extremely frustrating because I need to set up scheduling with my clinical preceptor and have held up my end by putting my application in well in advance for the September 4th, 2023 session. I would like some sort of communication regarding my application and why it has not been reviewed.Business Response

On 6/26 at 9am, I sent the final documents for my practicum. On 7/5 I received an email that these items were still outstanding. I resent them and followed up with a phone call to make sure these items were received. The man from academic advising told me the *** did not take phone calls, but my forms are "in the basket." I never heard back from the ***. I created a case on 7/6 and again on 7/11 and did not hear back. On 7/12 I called and spoke to an academic advisor who told me to send the documents to him and he would forward them to the *** to make sure they were received. I emailed him to follow up on 7/13 and never heard back. Then at 5pm CST on 7/13, I received an email that my documents have been received, but the *** does not have a finalized contract. I emailed them back after confirming with my site administrator and told them the contract was renewed on 6/12. They emailed me again on 7/14 to say they haven't received the contract. So at 930am CST, my site administrator re-emailed this contract. Again, I didn't hear back. Of note, on 7/13 I emailed student support to ask for the complaint advisor's email, as per the student handbook, and received no reply. On 7/14, I waited on hold for 54 minutes in order to get the email to file a grievance that I was never contacted about. On 7/17, I finally heard from someone who said they did receive the contract in June, but there was an error that needed to be corrected, but that no effort has been done on their part to accomplish this until today, after the semester started. I am now considered a part time student because I was unable to register this semester. This means that I do not receive the same tuition reimbursement. This error is costing me time and money. I completed my RN to BSN and had such a good experience I decided to continue my education. I had even started to fill out my DNP application, but I would now never consider this college for any other degree that requires a practicuum.Business Response

I am in the MSN/FNP program currently. I submitted my fall September and November applications well-before the deadline (120 days prior to the session start date). I have been told by countless advisors that my application would be viewed in June. Then it was pushed to the first week in July. Then it was pushed to after the holiday. Then I was told it was pushed to the first week of classes for the July session. Today 7/17/23 I was told no one has looked at my application and that it wouldnt be viewed until closer to the practicum start date. This was not communicated at all with me previously. I was also told today that this is done purposely by the *** so that they do not have to make any changes or updates if something with the site would change between submitting the application and the start of the semester. Less work for them is what I was told. I have tried to reach out to *** for clarification on compliance items, application status, and general practicum questions. I have not been able to speak to anyone on the phone from the department in months, possibly even since February this year. The academic support team will answer the phone but they have given conflicted information. At one point I thought I was going to lose my preceptor due to lack of outreach by the school. Thankfully there is a contract in place but nothing else has been processed after all this time and the lies and misinformation continue as the practicum date approaches. There is no one to advocate for this serious breach in justice and contract between the students and nursing program. There is a good chance that I might not have a fall practicum despite working diligently to ensure all of my compliance and application items are ready to go, consistent attempts to follow up with the school, and continuous effort to maintain my preceptor for the fall despite any outreach from the people who are supposed to be helping this process along.Business Response

I have been enrolled with Chamberlain University and in May 2023 I completed my core courses. I now have to enroll in my clinicals. I am unable to do so since I can not find a preceptor. When I email the business or try to contact them they either take a long time to answer me if they do or dont answer me at all. *** asked for help in finding a clinical site since per there rules if you can not find one after five denials and two coaching courses then they will assist you in finding one within a 100 mile radius. I have attempted several times and they told me to go to a site that I have to pay to find a preceptor. Thats another $2000 dollars apart from what I pay them. Ive asked for help. I know a lot of students are having the same issues with this. Ive had to sit out of classes since May 2019 and because I have to submit a preceptor 3 months in advance at this point I feel that I will not be enrolled for the September session. I have been asking for help since last year. If you look on their website they say schedule a meeting with us but there are no dates available. There are many students on the same boat as I am with the same issues. As you can see by the emails I have been asking for help since last year.Business Response

Page 2 of the Chamberlain University MSN-*** Practicum Handbook explains, You are responsible for identifying an appropriate location and preceptor for each practicum course. Students are assisted in this effort by an experiential learning specialist. The Handbook goes on to explain the detailed responsibilities of students, including:
Page 73 of the Chamberlain University Academic Catalog
Students are responsible for specifying their own practicum site and qualified mentor that meet the criteria established by Chamberlain. If students are unable to secure their own practicum site and qualified preceptor, Chamberlain will assist in identifying site/preceptor upon the student providing documentation of at least five potential sites that have not been able to accommodate the student, and must submit the request three sessions in advance of the need. Students using Chamberlain's preceptor matching service will be provided with one preceptor option within a 100-mile radius of their home address.
On June 20,2023, an Experiential Learning Specialist (***) spoke to ****************** regarding a plan to secure a practicum location. During this call, two plans were discussed: Plan A ****************** was considering moving back to her parents home in July, where there was a preceptor willing to take her or Plan * She would continue with the preceptor matching process.
On June 30,2023, ****************** emailed Chamberlain and stated that she had been unable to locate a preceptor and needed additional assistance.
On July 5,2023, an *** emailed ****************** a list of practicum sites in the *********** area and a resource email that provided guidance on how to secure a site.
On July 12,2023, ****************** emailed Chamberlain and stated that she would like a second coaching session with Chamberlain. She also stated that she kept getting rejected by physician offices and would be unable to utilize a third-party precepting company.
On July 13,2023, an *** contacted ****************** for a second coaching session. During this call, ****************** stated that she had reached out to several larger organizations that were unavailable. She just moved to the *********** area, isnt working, and has no connections. The *** encouraged ****************** to reach out to smaller sites in her area and to submit an application for preceptor matching. She was also told that even while preceptor matching is ongoing, she must continue searching for a site herself. Information regarding the preceptor matching was emailed to ******************
Students in the *** degree program are made aware before the start of the program responsible that they are responsible for securing a practicum location. I had my practicum application in for NR 603 for 4 months. Not once did I hear any update or see any update in my portal. I have been calling and emailing daily with the same response of call back tomorrow or still under review. On first week of July (1 week prior to starting class), I looked on the portal to see additional information needed next to my preceptors name. Not once did any one reach out to me. So again, I called and was told I needed to send an additional information sheet in. So I did. And still no update or explanation to why no one reached out to me in regards to this. Now I am supposed to be enrolled in class and have my first day at my practicum site, but instead Im not due to Chamberlains negligence. I have set everything up my self with no help from them. They cannot even do their part of the process but uphold us to do everything. I have completed everything per policy and yet I suffer from Chamberlains lack of caring.Business Response

Chamberlain's policy mandates that students cannot register for their next course until their practicum site is approved. However, the college consistently delays the approval process until the last minute. This negligence on their part has led to students to being held back for eight weeks in previous instances. The frustrating part is that even when you try to reach out to the *** team for an update, it's incredibly difficult to get a hold of them. If you manage to get through after enduring a 45-minute hold time, you end up speaking with the academic support team, who unfortunately lack the necessary information and updates. They simply repeat what you can already see on the computer, such as the pending status of contracts or sites. Please see document attached for further documentation.Over the past month, I have made countless phone calls, sent emails, support tickets, and even reached out to the **** of the college, yet the issue remains unresolved. My practicum site still hasn't received approval, and I am not registered for my course that begins next week. I am denied access to the preview week that other students benefit from, and I am even unable to determine which books I need to purchase in time for the course. The only reason the class didn't start today is due to a one-week "summer" break; otherwise, I would already be behind in my course, with no fault of my own. I submitted my paperwork as required in March, but it turns out my preceptor works at multiple locations, and I was instructed to submit separate applications for each one. I completed these applications the same day of the request, almost three weeks ago.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I am thankful for the assistance provided by the BBB. Without their intervention, I am uncertain whether my concerns would have been resolved. Sadly, many of my fellow classmates are still awaiting communication from the college, approval for their practicum, and registration for the active course, despite diligently submitting all necessary requirements. It is my sincere hope that Chamberlain recognizes the profound negative impact their lack of communication and prolonged approval processes have had on the mental well-being of their students. Balancing the demands of rigorous coursework and practicum hours, the persistent worry about progressing to the next course in order to graduate on time has undeniably been the most distressing aspect, and has additionally distracted from valuable hours of studying. It is imperative that the college upholds the same standards that they expect from their students. If we, as students, are required to proactively secure our own preceptors and submit applications well in advance (120 days that is); it is absolutely crucial that the college recognizes that timely communication and efficient processes are not just desirable, but fundamental aspects of the services we, as paying students, are entitled to receive. As paying customers, we have entrusted the college with our education and future prospects, and it is only reasonable to expect a high level of professionalism and accountability in return. By neglecting their responsibility to provide clear and timely communication, as well as streamlined processes, the college is not only disregarding their contractual obligations, but also jeopardizing our educational experience and hindering our progress. The financial investment we make in our education should be met with an equivalent commitment to ensuring a smooth and productive academic journey.

I have opened numerous cases with the chamberlain IT/ELC department which continue to be closed with no outcome. I have yet to have overall approval for my clinical site even though I have previously been to these locations. I am employeed by my clinical site organization which waves any ******************/needs which seems to be over looked each time. Each class this continues to be an issue. The school has no difficulty taking my money but the lack of communication or care for their students success is distasteful. I received my BSN from this organization and it was a wonderful experience but since starting clinical for grad school with chamberlain has been a completely different experience. I ask to receive faculty approval and to be registered for my class and approval for clinical to start on time. I have little children and an ill family member and the school procrastinating allowing up to two weeks AFTER the course has started to catch up on school work and clinical hours is a slap in the face to myself and my family.Business Response
