    I love my new apartment. It is so cute and cozy. The area is a great location and it’s very quiet. The people here are so nice and respond quickly to any questions I have had so far with my place. If your looking for a quiet place to call home River Chase Apartments is your home.

    My central air went out on June 13. There have been several maintenance personnel as well as a HVAC company in my apartment since then. It was fixed on June 17 and worked for 7 days after the condenser was replaced and the unit was filled with two pounds of refrigerant. The complex provided me with a window unit to help with cooling before the HVAC company fixed it. I live upstairs. The coolest I can get it in here is 80 degrees. I went into the office on Monday June 27 to put in another service request. I was informed on June 29 that my service request is "On hold" for parts. On July 11 I received another notice that my service request! is on hold. I got my electric bill for June yesterday. It is double what is was in May and it only covered part of June to July 5. I refuse to get sick from heatstroke, so I fun the window unit. The office staff informed me that air conditioning is a luxury. I am still expected to pay the entire rent, without the benefit of the central air cooling advertised for this complex. With the heat we have been having, I dread opening my electric bill for July!

    Ms. ******** - We at River Chase are doing everything possible to get your air conditioning fixed. These are brand new Goodman heating and air conditioning units were installed within the past 2 years and are all covered under warranty. You are not the only resident we have who is experiencing failure of some of the components on their air conditioners and Goodman has recalled parts. Unfortunately, we can't help that parts break and we have been at the mercy of the manufacturer waiting for the components as their supply chain has been a nightmare. We replaced the capacitor and charged the unit originally only to find out that another component had actually gone bad. River Chase has outsourced the workmanship to a third-party HVAC company to make sure it gets done right and we're still waiting on Goodman to get the parts in to get the permanent fix in place. We are told the part will be in any day and the contractor can make the final repairs. We've provided window air conditioning units as an alternative to the central air to ensure you can have some relief. Window air conditioning units actually use 1/8th the electricity of a central air system so while it will run longer to cool the residence, the cost difference should be negligible. Your electric bill is going to be exponentially higher because June was unseasonably hot and over 90F many days. You would have seen a substantial increase in your electric bill for the central air as well from May to June. Please also note that Duke also adjusted rates as you were noticed due to raw material costs. I assure you that we are doing everything in our power to try and accelerate this repair and it is not something we take lightly as you know we are very quick to respond to maintenance issues and want to address any/all resident concerns promptly. We will continue to push with the contractor and manufacturer to get this resolved as quickly as possible. We do apologize for the inconvenience and hope you can understand.

    I appreciate your quick reply. I do need to point out that the part that is needed is the cooling line from the interior of my apartment that runs to the condenser outside. It obviously was not replaced within the last two years. The HVAC company that showed up here before told me the line was replaced at some point with the wrong diameter of line. It is too small. I have seen other window units in the complex. I know I am not alone. I want to make people aware that their rent is still expected to be paid in full even without the "luxury" of a cool apartment in the heat of Indiana summers. I hope you can understand.
