I never applied for a loan with this company. My identity had been compromised and a loan of $8127 was allowed to be opened in my name. Now my credit is suffering. I will be filing paper work with the ftc, police and refuting this on my credit report. They need to correct this fraudulent loan that was created in my name.

Subject: Dispute of Fraudulent Account Reported by Republic Finance Dear Experian, I am writing to formally dispute a fraudulent account that is currently being reported on my credit report by Republic Finance. This account is not mine, and I believe it to be the result of identity theft. The details of the fraudulent account are as follows: Creditor Name: Republic Finance Account Number: 119267XXXXXXX Date Reported: September 07, 2017 Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), credit reporting agencies are required to report only accurate and verifiable information. Given that this account was fraudulently opened without my knowledge or consent, I am invoking my rights under the FCRA to dispute this account for the following reasons: Inaccuracy: The account listed does not belong to me, and I have never had any dealings with this creditor. Identity Theft: This account was opened fraudulently using my personal information. To support my dispute, I have enclosed the following documentation: I request that Experian conduct a thorough investigation of this fraudulent account and remove any inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information from my credit report. Dear BBB Complaint Department:

Thank you for your correspondence dated July 28, 2024. It is our goal at Republic Finance, LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service and we welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please allow this to serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #22054595.  As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”

Republic Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain requirements.  According to the FCRA, a dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor (i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the three afore-mentioned requirements.  If the Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth above, she is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to: Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite 100, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-1394.  Upon receipt of the Consumer’s complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will investigate the dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and report back to her.

I was lied to, misled multiple times by the people in this office, the first time they served me, I was told as long as I paid $75 a month, they wouldn’t file legal, yet they did. Time pass by, I continue to pay the $75, and I receive a paper regarding a garnishment. I call the same day and speak to ****, I explained to her how I could not financially afford the garnishment, she says nothing can be done due to the legal team already filing, and this was a lie because ******** the manager stated, it could’ve been stopped that day. I worked with ******** on 7/17 she tells me yes, I can try to get processed for $35, I say okay, I had to go &my card, I call back, and **** says no she meant $75, another lie, I am not pleased with my experience at all as I have always been on time prior to experiencing two layoffs while caring for my special needs son. I don’t understand why people try to make it harder for people already having a hard time as it is. I need my $75 back, I can’t afford to pay that plus a garnishment. & I don’t want to work with **** regarding my help because if helping is an option on the table why wasn’t it done?

My wages were garnished on a debt that I owed Republic Finance in the amount of $3,609.77 and by wages were garnished starting 10/06/2023. Since then I have paid off my debt and Republic Finance claims they have not received a check from the court on my balance and can not mark it as paid. I have made several attempts to get this resolved but have been unsuccessful. It is still showing that I have not paid this debt on my credit report and that is incorrect. I am asking to have this looked into so that my account can report accurately. This has been ongoing since the beginning of this year.

In May of 2021 I took out a loan with republic finance. In December of 2021 I paid off the loan. My loan officer, *****, did not apply my funds to pay off my loan. She called multiple times over the years only to ask me if I needed more money. In July of 2022 ***** called to see if I needed more money and to let me know that I wouldn’t have to start repaying my current loan until December 2023. When I told her that loan was payed off she said no I had a balance of 100 dollars that accrued interest all that time. When I asked her why was I never told this or notified all the times I spoke to her. She said she spoke with me about it the previous week, which was a lie because I was in CCU with a hemorrhagic stroke. I could not even look at my phone much less use it. When December came around and they wanted me to start to pay them again I received a flyer like bill that said I owe 230 dollars. There was nothing else on it. I called her to tell her that I wanted a detailed report on my loan and my payments. I wanted to know how much they are saying I owe. She immediately turned it over to a bill collector. I told him the same thing to no avail. I received a court document then a judgement against me for as much as I originally borrowed. I was never made aware of the court date and never given the option to dispute it. She expedited my case and rushed into court before I had a chance to do anything about it. She basically stole my money and is still stealing it on my opinion.

I have dealt with incompetence with republic finance at there’s Round Rock,Texas location for months now. I have been unemployed and did everything I was told!!! I’m following the procedures with the insurance I’ve paid for with the account. Initially I was told a different procedure as one employee left, they did not pass the information on to the proceeding manager and I was belittled and accused of wrong doing. I spoke to the regional manager who claimed to “ straighten” everything out. I have now moved and contacted to have my address changed and it was not. With that being said I still filled out the rfget portion. Which is at the least supposed to freeze my loan until the insurance reacts. I was just informed that I was late. This is infuriating as I have been constantly complaining about the time it takes the company to react. It is now on my credit report which is now a false report and a breach of contract. I will be securing legal counsel for my next steps not only with the fraudulent late claim but also with stress, racism, and emotional and psychological damage I have endured.

I have a signature loan with this company, and was contacted by phone to offer a lower interest rate and the option to borrow more funds. I was told that it was being offered because my account was in good standing and reflected that I've paid early and have paid more than required minimum. It was explained that in order to get either of these, they had to conduct a credit inquiry. Because I was told that my interest could be lowed by as much as 10%, I allowed it even though I was unsure if I would want the additional funds. Once they got back to me, I was informed that they'd only lower my interest by 2% and offered me an additonal $2000. I chose to proceed since the credit inquiry was already run, and the representative asked for further documentation. I emailed check stubs, a voided check and other items, then was contacted informing that the final step was to provide collateral such as electronics, jewelry or other valuables that totaled the amount of the loan and that I had to add an insurance policy to the loan that would cost approximately $13/month for 36 months. I was furious because none of that was disclosed when they initially contacted me. I spoke to a manager, but all he did was offer an alternative of having me add them as a lienholder to my home insurance. That option was not any better, so I told them I no longer wanted to proceed with the offer, and I asked them to remove the hard inquiry on my credit. The manager said he would see about reversing it, then contacted me the next day saying he could not. Although he was apologetic, he had no explanation for why that information was not given to me initially when they presented the offer. I asked to make a complaint, but he never got back to me even after I told him I was going to report this to BBB. Because my credit is fair, I was hoping to consolidate payments by borrowing additional funds. The credit inquiry will likely make that harder now, so I'd like to have it removed from credit report.

      Complaint: 21864018

I am rejecting this response because: it does not clearly state what they will be doing to address the matter. If they will do their part to remove the inquiry from my credit report, it should clearly state that. If they are denying my request and will do nothing more besides communicating with me what they've already done (which is nothing to reverse/clear the inquiry), they should clearly state that.

I apologize if I am not understanding what their intention is to address my complaint, it is likely because I am not savvy enough with the terminology used. I would like their actions stated more clearly and simplified into layman's terms so there is no further confusion.

I hope to hear back in a timely manner.
