*************************** from Interlock told us that if we were to have a roof installed by Interlock that a Project manager would be on site every day, for the entire day, to oversee our job and make sure that the work was performed at a high level of care and quality; and that Interlock employees were all *************** by Interlock, and only work for Interlock, and that they would not be working multiple jobs when working on our job. The first day they arrived for the installation, on September 7, the workers came in a truck with another company logo, Gutter Guys. Furthermore the Project manager was absent for most of the first three days of the job. There were several occasions where we had concerns about the installation including safety and the manager was completely unavailable. As a result of his absence, there were numerous issues with the work. Some mistakes were only caught because we noticed them and asked for them to be fixed. Other mistakes still have not been satisfactorily fixed. These include: 1. shingles dented and scratched in the process of trying to fix all the other issues 2. Damaged wood siding, and wood siding that was replaced but poorly installed and badly painted.3. A dented box vent.4. Debris deposited in dry well because it was pushed into downspouts.5. Severely dented flashing 6. Two skylights were not properly closed. The board that the plywood is nailed to in the middle is not secured and only wedged between the drywall. There were also safety concerns. Items were constantly being thrown off the roof, no doorways were blocked off to let people know if debris would be thrown from above. A full sheet of plywood, carried up a ladder, was dropped, hitting our window. A worker was standing on A-frame ladder on the lower level of the sloped roof. We are asking for a $7000 discount off the $38K price.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

We regret that the labor shortage we struggled with this past year affected the Fergusons installation. We had hoped to have those issues resolved in 2022 but securing workers has been very difficult in the construction industry. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused the Fergusons.

We previously serviced the punch list items in October but are happy to return to attend to any outstanding items upon receipt of payment.

We are prepared to discount the outstanding balance by 3K provided we are paid in full by Dec 31 2022, after which date this offer will expire.  And again, once weve been paid, we will schedule a service visit to attend to any outstanding service items.

      Yours truly,
      Interlock Industries ****

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

Thanks for your message.  The fact that Interlock has struggled with the labor shortage is unfortunate, and that fact should have been disclosed to us at the original sales meeting.  Instead, we were assured that Interlock employees only work for Interlock, and that they are all factory trained.  The claim of having high-quality, experienced installers was the major selling point which heavily influenced our decisionbut that claim was untrue.

We were told that a project manager would be on the job all day.  if that had been true, perhaps these less experienced installers would have had more oversight.  But our project manager, who has worked for you for many yearswas mostly absent, doing other jobs instead of attending to ours.  A punch list was reviewed for our job, but many of the things they tried to fix became worse when they tried to fix them.  If we were still waiting for outstanding items to be attended to on the list, we would certainly be asking them to get fixed before we paid you, not after we paid you.  According to our contract (and ************* law, if I am not mistaken), the final payment is due upon satisfactory completion of the job.

In additiona new issue has been brought to our attention, which is that no building permit was ever pulledor paid forfor this job, according to the ************** (see attached photo).  Please clear this up as this should have been done before any of the work began.

I really want to avoid having to take this issue to small claims court.  So we are willing to meet you in the middle, and accept a discount of $5000.  If that is agreeable, we will pay the balance in full immediately, and then would expect the warranty to be mailed to us as stated in your email.

      Thanks, *************************

This matter was settled with the customer in January 2023. We provided the homeowner with a copy of the permit and as well we provided him with a discount for the inconvenience caused. We considered this matter closed and have the email documentation to support the settlement if that is required.

Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond.

My husband and I closed on a house with an Interlock roof November 2021. The metal roof was a key selling feature; however, with heavy snows storms we experienced severe dangerous roof avalanches with heavy ice blocks that slid off roof and projected out into the sidewalk, projected out into the shared driveway area and slid down back of home - we have a very large roof. After months of trying to reach this company by email and phone and getting the run-around, we finally got an agreement signed for the installation of snow guards - ON THREE SIDES. Without notice, we received a call March 11 from Interlock who advised the snow guard installer would be "in the area" that very day. We cancelled plans; the installer showed up around 1:30 and upon inspection complained that he had only 60 snow guards and that he was not told it was an installation on three sides and that based on size of roof, he may not have enough snow guards. Then he gives us a run down of his itinerary saying he may not be able to return to finish the installation any time soon. Then installer said we may not need snow guards in back of home because no one walks there. (Really who is he to make this determination) in the meantime time we have a severe basement water problem in the back area and need to install a gutter system throughout - the avalanches would bend the gutter so we need the snow guards installed first! He proceeds to install snow guards in front of hone but none in the shared driveway roof area or back of home. We gave up calling, and have emailed this company asking when will installer return to complete/finish snow guard installation WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. WE ARE IN A TERRIBLE SITUATION WITH A WATER LOGGED BASEMENT, COMPROMISED BASEMENT WALLS AND CANNOT PROCEED WITH OUR GUTTER INSTALLATION WITHOUT THE SNOW GUARDS. WE NEED THE INSTALLATION OF SNOW GUARDS TO BE PLACED ON SHARED DRIVEWAY AND BACK OF HOME - OR AT LEASE GIVE US A NAME OF A RELIABLE COMPANY WHO WILL FINISH JOB.
