This is now my second request made via BBB to be added to a “no contact” list as I do not want to receive their ridiculous “newsletter.” The first request was back in Oct ‘22. That should have been enough time to figure out how to handle this.Business response

In response to the complaint by Mr. ***** *****, we found after researching this problem that Mr. ***** had a duplicate record under *********** *****. The one record was marked as being unsubscribed to Imprimis but not marked as NO Contact. This would cause him to receive other mail but not Imprimis. The duplicate record has been deleted, and we believe the problem has been corrected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused Mr. *****.
We have complied to Mr. *****’s request by taking him off the mailing list on all sites and marked his record as “No Contact” as of September 8th, 2023 as he has requested. We also stopped any other form of communication such as phone or email.
Mailings are set up 4 to 6 weeks in advance; there isn’t any further action that we can take after a mailing has already been sent to the mail house for distribution. He may receive a few more items that have already been sent to be mailed, but after that, all mail should stop. We are sorry that Mr. ***** had a bad experience with Hillsdale College Imprimis and want to assure him that we have done everything that we can to honor his request for no further contact by Hillsdale College. If Mr. ***** has any more contact from Hillsdale College after the 4 to 6 week period, please don’t hesitate to contact us at; **********************.
Sincerely,
Hillsdale College ImprimisCustomer response

For years, as my Dad's POA and mail handler, I continued to unsuccessfully tried to get these mailings to stop from this college. When my dad passed away and his address was dissolved, that was finally the sad way it got taken care of. Now, these pesky annoying junk mailers have my address. Can you please make them stop sending mail to me? I am unsure of how they acquired my address. Thank you.Business response

Sorry for the late response to the complaint by ***** ******, I was out of the office. We are very sorry about his Father. We would like to request his Dad’s Full name and address to see if everything on his record has been completed and marked correctly. We would like to find out why this has happened and to get this corrected for him if possible. We do not sell any information that has been acquired for the Imprimis publication. If he is still getting junk mail, is it from Hillsdale College? We do not have Mr. ******’s address that he listed on this complaint in Hillsdale College’s Database. Does he have another address that might be associated with the College? Also if he has an Imprimis publication that was received, or other mail from Hillsdale College, there is an ID number just above the name and address, or if it is a long sting of numbers it is the last set that also helps us identify a constituent. We have put him on a Suppression List to make sure he is not being sent anything from Hillsdale College. If Mr. ****** would like to supply us with more information we will diligently try to remove his record from the mailing list.Initial Complaint

Hillsdale college received our address from someone without our permission. They have been sending us their newsletter regularly. We do not agree with the contents and have asked several times, via email and phone, to be removed from their mailing list. Despite assurances they will do so, it has now been years and they have not. We just want to stop receiving this hateful newsletter.Business response

Hillsdale College has been spam mailing my deceased Grandma, who didn't sign up for the their mailing list. They must have purchased a list of millions of Americans with zero thought to the waste of trees or the inconvenience of dealing with garbage labeled with your beloved family member who passed away. I have called (517-437-7341) to have her name removed. I'll be revisiting this in 6 weeks to update the complaint with more information on Hillsdale College.Business response

In response to Mr. ***** ******, I am very sorry about his Grandmother. I would like to request his Grandmother’s full name and address and the address that is showing on the received mail from Hillsdale College, if it is different. This will allow me to search and make sure that she has been removed from all sites. Mailings are sent to the mailing house six to eight weeks in advance; as soon as I receive this information, I can let Mr. ****** know the results of my findings.
Best Regards,
*****

Hillsdale College aka Imprimis has sent unsolicited mailings to my home address for a long time. In November of 2022 I was assured by ***** ******* that my address had been removed from their system and no further mail would be sent (with the understanding that mail already in the system to be sent might still make it through). I understand delays, but after a few months I continued to receive mail. After contacting ***** on February 13, 2023, she said that something must be wrong with their system and she would contact their team to figure out what's wrong. She then passed me along to ********* *******, who on March 1, 2023 promised me that all mail would stop (since she now had both name and address mail was being sent to). Here it is, March 13, 2023 and we are still receiving mail begging for money and spreading right winged propaganda to people of differing beliefs. Hillsdale College aka Imprimis is an abusive right winged money making scheme...I'm tired of receiving their ****. It needs to stop now. I only have this morning's mail as evidence. I've destroyed all others (what a waste of trees). ***** and *********, no more promises, just get the job done and stop sending your mailings!Business response

“Initially, the complainant did not provide the information necessary to stop bulk mailings. As soon as Hillsdale College received the correct name and address, mailings were stopped.”
“Complainant is always advised that they may receive mail for up to 6 weeks or so, as mail files are pulled weeks in advance.”Customer response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: Removing a 'mailing address' should not require a name attached to it in order to stop all future mailings to that address. They need an updated system if that is the case on their end. If Hillsdale College-Impiris proves in time to stop all mail to my home address permanently and forever then I will accept their response.
Sincerely,
***** *******Business response

We appreciate complainant’s patience and understanding in addressing this matter. When we responded to complainant in November 2022 that the address had been “removed,” we meant that mailings to the person listed in our records as living at that address would be suppressed. Properties may be rented or sold, and individuals residing at a residence may request our mailings while others in the same residence would prefer to be unsubscribed. Thus, in November 2022, when we received the anonymous request for suppression (anonymous in that it did not have a name included in the e-mail address or the e-mail body), we suppressed the name in our records that was attached to that address. We have since learned that the name in our records was not the name either of the complainant or the relative on whose behalf she speaks. For that reason, the November 2022 suppression request would not have suppressed complainant’s name or her relative’s name, or informed third party servicers that complainant’s or her relative’s name at the listed address should not receive mailings. When complainant provided the relevant names in March 2023, we were able to link the names with the address and suppress mailings to these individuals at the listed address, which can take 4-6 weeks to become effective due to mailings currently in progress.
