Michigan 1st ************ is neither a safe or reliable financial institution. If you are unfortunately the victim of a phone scam do not expect to get any help other than their generic message about giving out information. They offer no other account protection. NONE! While other banks refund customers when they investigate and find fraud Michigan 1st does not. If you have a Michigan 1st account I strongly suggest moving to a more customer friendly institution for protection.

These people allowed someone to obtain a credit card in my name then proceeded to take money from my checking account as payment when I never had a card with the credit union. When I stopped the activity and closed the account they came after me through 40th district court even though they had no proof or original documents with me for anything. They felt they could do it because they had the right to anyway. *** never had a financial institution be so vindictive and act broke to the point youd take me to court with literally no evidence and admit in a summons that u had no proof after sending the summons to the wrong address up until the last day I could respond to the court to defend myself. The credit u ion is garbage and predatory. Stay away from this S****y scammy a** credit union. Theyll never get my business or my friends or family again.

Worst fraud prevention ever! We think their employees are stealing money from their customers, and they are refusing to work with their customers on refunding the money. We received a call from their number from an employee who had full access to our transaction history, full ssn, full date of birth, username for our online banking, access to devices that were logged into online banking, and security question answers who told us our account was compromised and had us turn off our cards in the app and change our password with him over the phone. The next day, all of our money was gone, and on top of it, they were able to withdraw more than what was in our account which put us at a negative. The first solution from the representative we spoke to inside the branch *********************** was to take out a loan to pay back the negative balance, when we asked her how they had all that information if they were a fraudulent caller she stated they are creative nowadays. We received another call like this back in March due to their system being compromised which was exactly the same minus changing the password. We immediately filed a police report and the grpd officer himself stated this sounds like an internal breach. I would think twice about opening an account with this *********************************************, they do not stand behind their customers at all.

On 5/9/2024 I was called by a Michigan First rep asking me about charges from Amazon I said no and they said that my account needed to reset and my card shut down so agreed to help at the time I just had an endoscopy done I was still not with it at that time I was having a hard time verifying my security questions sad part they called it was a scammer calling from a Michigan First **************** line check my account that night notice they took $2000 out of my checking account via ********************** ATM in Detroit and took $1000 from my 6-year-olds account and transferred it to my sister's account and withdraw the money at an ATM on 12mile Rd in Detroit next day did a fraud claim just got a letter on 5/20/2024 stating that my case is closed they found no error and that it was my fault that I gave them my information but what gets me is that they used the Michigan First **************** number to call me I did call the number back and it was the actual banks number even talked to a real customer representative using that number seems like a inside job to me so I'm out $3000 back to me working a 3rd job to make that money up.

This is such a bad credit union. I know at least 4 people including me who have been scammed out of money and Mi first will not give them their money back. smh. The customer service is so bad, its sad. They give people the run around. They don't research the issue long enough to even get substantial information to prove the charges are not the customers. The lastest person I know who was scammed is my brother. He was scammed out of $900 and MI first are blaming him and won't give him any money back. Its honestly sad.

Had a charge come out of my account one day while at work, someone was using my card at a Panera! I immediately shut off my card and called their customer service. I was told to go into a branch to file a dispute and get a new card. Two weeks later, I received paperwork that they found no fraudulent activity on my account and were closing the dispute. I am out money, that I didn't spend and a bank that could care less. On top of not backing their customers up, I went to a credit union to avoid fees. Somehow my saving account has a monthly charge of $3. I regret leaving ***** and am heading back immediately. Avoid this bank at all costs!

Michigan First credit Union accused me of depositing a fraudulent check. Suspended my account, placed it in negative status and I couldnt access or deposit my money! The employee ******* that runs the fraud department continuously accused me of depositing a scam check. I went into my local branch and presented paperwork stating I care for a ****** child. Then they activated my account but still kept in the negative saying the company needs to reissue a check. It has caused me to lose money which I make and deposit daily. I will be closing my account ASAP!
