Business will not return, or answer calls in regards to a lemon car vehicle they have sold to me with the incorrect battery which has led to the vehicle not being functionable over 2 months with no help to resolving fixing the issue.

We are aware of ****************** vehicle issues and have attempted to reach out today.

************** called the dealership complaining that the vehicle would not start, we had the vehicle towed to a local service facility.  *********** facility replaced the battery and found there was no communication with the vehicles computer.  *********** Facility then advised her to take the vehicle to a ***** dealership saying it should be under factory warranty.  The ***** store diagnosed the vehicle and said the issues were caused by attempting to jump the vehicle with the cables reversed causing shorts.  Due to this negligence the vehicle is not covered under warranty.

We were told by the RiteWay Auto Sales in ********, ** that we needed to take the 2014 ***** Equinox to W&W AutoTech because it was leaking oil and would not run, that was the place required by the warranty. So it was towed there. We were told that there was a timing chain broken and would need fixed, about $2k, parts and labor. Then we were told it wasn't under warranty, and would need a new engine for $6K+. This vehicle has been in the shop for the EXACT SAME PROBLEM, 5 times and they have refused to deliver receipts for work done. They have ONLY changed the oil and said that would fix the problem. After getting $1,058.05 on 5/13/24 for parts, we were told today, 6/7/24, there is now an issue with #3 cylinder. They say that we signed a liability letter, which we have not. We never signed anything. They refuse to fix the problem, even though it has been in the shop multiple times for the same issue. The General Manager and ************** say there is nothing they can do since the car was out of warranty, even though the vehicle has been directed to be repaired 5 times for this exact issue. We technically still owe approx $1,232 for labor that we have not paid, but I'm sure will be required to upon picking up the vehicle.

Please have ******************** contact us.  While they've had the vehicle almost 2 years and an unknown number of miles since delivery we are potentially willing to assist out of goodwill but need more details.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

I have spoken with the Regional Manager from Rightway on several occasions.  He has told me that the company would pay for half of the repairs that we have already done, which at this time would be $2,290half being $1,145.  We have received nothing.  They will not even talk to us.  He said that if we brought the vehicle back, they would give an above value trade in for the vehicle and help us get a new one.  They have offered $500 trade value.  They have said that we have had the vehicle for 2 years and an unknown number of miles since delivery, yet the vehicle has been taken to a mechanic of their requirement each time.  They have even paid the $100 deductible the first timewhich was less than a month after getting the vehicle.  It was taken to that same mechanic for the same issues, by order of Rightway, and that mechanic FLAT REFUSED to provide any paperwork.  It has been documented as well that the vehicle was taken to a different mechanic (W&W AutoTech) 3 additional times for the same issue.

Now, Rightway had us leave the vehicle at their lot while determining the value for trade.  The vehicle is not longer on their lot, we do not have it, and no one will call and let us know what the status of the vehicle is.  Effectively all communication has been cut off.  We don't have our vehicle, we don't have a new vehicle, and we cannot get anyone from Righway to communicate with us.  They had offered to pay half of the repair bills but that has not happened either.  Seems everything they promise is full of lies, and then they just cut off communications with everyone.

      Regards,

      **** ********

      Business response

      09/18/2024

No one was instructed to leave a vehicle at our lot. However the customer did leave their vehicle at our location and had their lender come pick it up.  We know this because the lender contacted us for permission to repossess on our property.

At this time there's nothing further we can do.

      Sincerely,

06/04/2024 *************** was supposed to sell us a ready to drive safe car which was not the case. I paid $1000 cash. As well as traded in my 2007 ***** silverado 1500 lt pick up that they gave me $1250.00 for it. They assured me that the car would be safe for me and my child and leaving the dealership after the test drive and paper work/Bought it the car started making noises on the way home also started losing air in my rear tire. I took my car to Discount tire and they informed me and showed me that all 4 tires needed to be replaced for the tread on them was below the recommended safety limit for driving. When I called them they said there was nothing they could do about that. I just want my money and my truck back without any hassle. These people lied to me and could've put my child / family at risk.

I purchased the car from right way in November Christmas Eve. I was driving home from work and my tire popped off. I called my insurance company. They sent my car to caliber collision when they fixed the tire my notice there was something else wrong with the car but my insurance wouldnt cover, so I called the car dealership back where I had a two year warranty with them they took my car and sent it to their mechanic to be fixed. They fix the wheel or something else after they return the car and sent it back two days later. They called their sounds fixing the problem and return my card to me the next day. I returned my car back to them because I was still having problems. It is now May 28 and I have yet to receive my car back every time I call they say theyre working on it And I should hear from them within the next couple of days which I never do and I end up calling them again and they say theyre still waiting on parts. They said theyre waiting on the insurance company to approve something at this point scared to even receive this car back. Not sure what else might be wrong with it my mom got me this car for a early Christmas present and its been nothing but horrible they did give me a loaner car only because my mom said she was calling the bbb but its nothing like your own I really hope you can help I pay my car note and insurance even month for a car Im not driving

We have reached out to the customer and apologize for the inconvenience.  Unfortunately even with our safety inspection and recon process there's no telling what may breakdown over time on a used vehicle. We are having the engine replaced at no cost to ************ and it should be done soon, an exchange is not available.

I purchased a vehicle with extended warranties as well as gap insurance only to have a check engine light come on days after purchasing the vehicle. I contacted this company as they have a shop that they send vehicles to that are covered under warranty and was told my warranty doesnt cover what was wrong with the vehicle. Upon reading thru my paperwork on my vehicle it clearly stated it did in fact cover such said issues and only then when I contacted rightway again was I told ok send it in the shop and it will be covered. This shop is also very booked so not only did I miss weeks of work waiting for this vehicle to be repaired and still expected to pay this new car note that was extremely over priced. To this day I atill owe 15k on a vehicle that is only worth 3500. This is due to them tacking on extra fees and the warranties that truly dont cover my cars damages. I was sold a lemon that I unfortunately am trapped still paying for while still missing work. The vehicle cant be traded in not even back to their own company because no bank including the one that financed the vehicle wants to pay such a high amount for a car thats not worth the cost. This car is a lemon and I shouldnt be stuck paying it while still missing work because of it

************** purchased a vehicle from our Midlothian, ** location in 2021 as part of an arms-length transaction where she reviewed and agreed to all of the terms in writing.  Shortly after delivery ************** did have a check engine light, which was repaired by Rightway at no cost to her.

************** did purchase an extended service contract on her vehicle which provides additional coverage for 24 months or ****** miles whichever comes first.  When she stopped into our Burbank location on March 15th 2024 we noted that she's put ****** miles on her vehicle since purchasing in 2021 which would mean her extended service contract is expired by miles.

We do not feel it's a fair resolution to give ************** a refund on the extended warranty she purchased in 2021 or the vehicle she drove for over ****** miles.  ************** is welcome to refinance her vehicle with a bank of her choice, but we are not a bank, so we cannot assist her with that.

Purchased a vehicle from Rightway in January 2024. A check engine light was on and the known problem was to be fixed. After 1 month it was finally "fixed" check engine light came back on with the same codes so we contacted the local kokomo office again. We are being told "well we fixed the issue" and now they are not willing to fix the issue that was going on when vehicle was purchased as is in the paperwork. Why should i have to pay for the issue when i was told it would be fixed.

Complaint taken over phone by BBB representative BA.

Consumer purchased a 2019 Jeep Cherokee on 12/5/2023. The price on the vehicle was $21,000.00. She is financing it through Exeter. Before purchase, the manager told her they would fix the crack in the hood and a dent on the side, but they did not. The day after she purchased the car, when she got on the freeway, the hood started flapping and the dashboard lights all lit up. The brakes started pulsating and grinding. She was told at the time of sale that the car was never in an accident and she shouldn't have a problems with it, but she found out from their mechanic that it had been in an accident. She has a been told that they will only pay $300 for the cosmetic issues. They will not pay to replace the brakes, the rotors, fix the hood or replace the speakers and the tires. The finance company has told her that the dealer either needs to switch her to another vehicle, refund her money, or fix the issues, and the cost will be 'way more' than $300.

First of all when I pulled into the lot and started talking to one of the salesman he briefly asked me what my interests are for a vehicle. I explained that I have a new born child on the way so I needed something safe and reliable. He says "I got the perfect vehicle" so he proceeds to pull around a 2015 ***** malibu 2.5L 4 door sedan. The car was filthy inside and out it looked like someone drove it through a swamp and the floor boards got covered in something I can't even tell you what it was. Upon my return home I noticed a little yellow and red sticker that said do not sell until the vehicle has had required work done to it. By this point it was to late and the paperwork had been signed.i also reached out to my sales person about the car shifting a rough turns out it needed a new fuel pump, breaks, and power steering , which is electronic Second, I now know that the *********** does digital titles, me being an out of stater had no clue, I contacted the salesman at rightway who sold me the car because my title should have went to sec of state and added my bank as the lean holder, that has yet to have been done and I have had this car going on 7 months now. My bank is now saying that they will reposes my vehicle if they do not receive the title. I have never been treated so poorly by someone or a business in my life. I am a veteran and the salesman told me "thank you for your service", and even shook my hand. But what is really upsetting g is the fact that I told this man that I have a new born on the way, he expressed interest because of having children of his own. It sickens me to think that someone would sell me a car that could potentially harm my family. Do not buy a vehicle from these people. I have contacted 4 of there dealerships in hopes of getting things resolved as well as corporate office but was told that they do not have a brick and mortar building to come to to complain. They will jerk you around to get what they want out of you!!!

******************** came to our ******* location in August 2023 looking for a vehicle.  He inspected and test dove a 2015 ***** Malibu that he decided to purchase as part of an arms-length transaction.  ******************** did have some issues shortly after purchase which Rightway paid for at no cost to him in the amount of $1,426.16.  ******************** also received a 6 month or ***** mile powertrain warranty with his purchase at no cost.

We were unaware of the title issue as the state handles the titles electronically and the lienholder was added to our knowledge.

We do not have a "corporate office" but I run the Northern MI stores, please have ******************** reach out to me directly if he is still having issues.
