Purchased a vehicle from this business on 2-1-2024 that I paid $10,520.98 after fees and taxes. I had the vehicle for less than 4 months and had put less than 1500 miles on it when the check engine light came on which was for the positive crankcase ventilation system hose being disconnected. It actually wasn't disconnected, the hose was broken in two and had been taped back together around a little plastic cylinder. It took the mechanic I had fix it about ten seconds to see it before he replaced it. Then after about another three months and not even putting 3000 miles on it the check engine light came on again and was throwing out all kinds of codes. It turned out most of them were probably false codes because the mechanic found it had a bad fuel injector. I called the dealership about this one, and the only help they offered me was a discount on the labor charge to fix it only on the condition that I get the car to them. Well that was really no help at all since I live sixty miles from the dealership and can't possibly drive the car there and it would cost me a fortune to have it towed there, so it will end up costing me less to pay out of pocket to have it fixed locally. I'd be okay with their offer if they would cover getting the car to their dealership, but they refuse to do that, and since I didn't purchase one of their overpriced warranties that it's basically my problem. What they did to me just isn't right, and if I didn't have sense enough to keep my old vehicle I'd be out of job now thanks to this irreputable business.

On March 06th 2023 my daughter and I went to schafer Chevrolet to test drive a 2014 jeep cherokee latitude. She fell in love with it drove fine . There were 4 or 5 different latitudes there and we drove them all. Upon standing at the back of it the rear tires appeared to be slanted and i questioned this. I was told that they all do it. Sure enough everyone they had did it, so i figured well must be true. She liked the 2014 the best and we began the purchase process. We put ****** to hold the vehicle. The rest was financed for a total of roughly ********. On June 17th my daughter had 2 flat tires due to the new tires being worn down to the threads showing. I pulled wheels off and found the rear axle knuckles had worn out bushings. I called for the part at a local dealership and was quoted ******* per wheel for the knuckle because there is no replacement bushings. I was also informed that they were on back order and may see them by August. So I searched salvage yards and found 2 off of a jeep that had ***** miles on it and bought them for ******. I will be replacing them this weekend which I'm sure will take the majority of the weekend. With that being said with parts and labor this night mare will cost me around 1******

On 01/18/23, I **************************** made arrangements to pick up my used 2014 **** F-150 from above business. On 01/13/23 we went to test drive the truck and decided we liked it. ******************* was the sales rep that helped us. He told us that we needed to deposit $200.00 cash in order to be able to hold the truck until the 18th when we could get the CASH needed to purchase the vehicle. We did not finance the truck. We did not have any paperwork on the 13th telling us what the out the door purchase price was because we hadn't made the decision to purchase the extended warranty. We live in *************, ** which is **** miles from the dealership. We chose this dealership solely because I found the vehicle on CARFAX online. On 1-18-23 I contacted **** and asked him what the dollar amount was for out the door pricing for the truck with the warranty package we chose. He texted what the out the door price would be minus our $200.00 deposit. My wife went to the bank on the 18th and purchased the cashier's check for the $27,782.19. We drove to the dealership, where **** had the truck ready to go... We signed the documents, got a receipt for the balance we were told to get the check for (with$0.00) remaining on the receipt. PAID IN FULL. I have been harassed through text and phone by both **** and his manager. Threatened by having the $200 that they claim I owe being reported to the Credit Bureaus as an unpaid debt and they said "Good Luck getting your title". They have said I am not a good person, and that I am a 1%er. I called the manager and all he wanted to do is talk over me and tell me to pay the $200. I just said we can agree to disagree and ended the call. The manager **** and **** continue to harass me by text (they said I told them to f-off) which I never did. STILL don't have my title and was told it was out of their hands and was told not to call the dealership again. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a cash purchase this large.

I called ********************* about a used **** Pickup Schafer Chevrolet of ********** ** had on their lot. I live in *********** **, approximately 180 miles away. We came to an agreement over the phone, contingent on a road test, something everyone would do when spending ******* dollars. ****** insisted on a $500 deposit, which I paid using my credit card. We arranged financing and drove over to ********** with my friend, a certified master mechanic. We arrived Saturday September 24th, 2022, at 2 pm. ****** put a dealer plate on the truck, and we headed out for a road test. I noticed the windshield was damaged but proceeded' Right away noticed the truck was shaking, my mechanic suggested it had a bad tire, bent rim or warped rotor on the right rear. The faster we traveled the worse the shaking became, when coming to a stop from 60 mph, the truck shuttered bad. My mechanic suggested that it was worse than a bad tire, bent rim, or a warped rotor, and said, don't buy it. Went back to the dealer, told him what was going on, and that I was not going to purchase the truck. When I asked for a refund of my deposit, he said it wasn't refundable. My purchase was contingent on a satisfactory test drive; therefore, I'm entailed to a refund on my deposit. My intention is to report the dealership to the Secretary of *************** Sector and *** for damages.

I'm not sure where ***************** came from, his license says ***********************************. But yes. He is correct that he did agree to place a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit pending there be no major issues during the test drive. This is an absolutely beautiful truck especially for being over 8 years old. I did personally test drive the vehicle myself to verify the customer concerns and make sure the salesperson was accurate with the description of the truck before getting a deposit. It is difficult to describe how slight of a shake there was when driving down the road to the point you couldn't tell if there was a shake at all or just the road itself. And there was a slight shake when braking hard! If you brake normally you can't even feel it. So the salesperson did not miss anything while describing the vehicle. Even with how the slightness of the shakes, I told them I would rebalance the tires (even though you can't fix a shake that isn't there), and resurface the rotors (that would fix the minor brake pulsation). I also told him I would deliver the vehicle to him so he did not have to waste another trip. We held this truck for a week for him missing out on other sales on the truck just for him to back out over nothing. I was going to refund $300 of his $500 to be nice but he threatened us with a lawyer and told other customers to leave the store. After that I feel there is no need to refund any amount of money to him.

    Thank you

    Customer response

    09/29/2022

I'm sure *********************** is a great used car salesman, but his statement couldn't be further from the truth. I had a certified master mechanic with me, we took it for a test ride, something anyone would do when spending 16K on a used vehicle.  The truck started shaking about 35 mph and didn't go away up to 65mph, upon braking hard it shuttered violently. Based on my mechanics advise, the test drive was not satisfactory, and he advised me not to buy it. It wasn't a tire balance issue, and it was more than a warped rotor issue. Another excuse I got from ************ I brought up the windshield damage " somebody was supposed to take care of that" As far as me telling a customer to leave, that gentleman shared with me that he tried 2 different vans, both had bad brakes, if I told him not to buy anything, that would be his choice, and it has nothing to do with me wanting my money back. ****************** is correct that the truck was beautiful, but the lipstick on a pig would describe the truck better. Mr. **** also said, other people were standing in line for this truck, if thats the case, sell it to them. As of today, September 29th, the truck is still listed. Finally, yes, I did take this to my lawyer, he suggested filing a complaint with SOS, and file a small claims in the local court. Which is next. Schafer Chevrolet is not a certified Chevrolet dealer, and I can see why. I have no idea why ****************** is flat out lying. and truly, it doesn't matter, a reputable dealer would refund a deposit if a customer didn't want to purchase the vehicle, for any reason

-Purchased a 2013 GMC Acadia on 03/11/22. Dealer failed to inform us that the seatbelt (steel braided cable line) was broken. This repair was ******. 2 days after purchase a check engine light came on requiring a purge valve to be replaced. This was a ***** repair. 1 week after purchase we noticed a 1,2 flare of the transmission in between 2nd and 3rd, also notice engine coolant disappearing. We took the car to a licensed mechanic..a transmission relearn was done, trans flush, alignment and a replacement of the water pump..this repair was $580.00. I was informed by that mechanic that the rotors need to be replaced and their defects were covered by repair placing new brake pads over them. After 1 month which was the recommended time the transmission issue became worse and the relearn was not working. To have the vehicle looked at for that issue to date we are ****** out of pocket and climbing. This car has been in the shop longer than I have had it on the road. I messaged the dealer who sold us the car and it was routinely ignored. We want to be compensated for the seat belt repair minimally. This is something that should have been caught during inspection and could have resulted in severe injury or death had we not noticed sooner and a collision had occurred. My safety was compromised, my savings are drained and I still do not have a driveable vehicle ********* plus later.
