I went to memorial on feb 5, 2024 for food poisoning. I was billed on March 9, 2024 for my co-pay, but when I went to pay my bill it showed that there was another charge on the account that I was never notified about. When I called and talked to someone in the billing department the lady told me that the other amount that was attached to the account never had a bill made so I was never notified about it. So I had paid a little bit on the bill and they did not apply it to the original bill but to the one that I did not know about. I asked for it to be reviewed and added to the original bill. I just recently received another bill for the original bill stating that I have 10 business days to pay it off or it will go to collections. How is that possible bc I just received the new bill on May 13, 2024 and now I have 10 days to pay or it will go into collections?? They are a scam and do not care if they make a mistake or not on their part. They will bully you to pay a bill that you refused to pay bc they added an amount without you knowing about it. I will be making a formal complaint to the BBB about this bc this is my name and my credit they are trying to mess with.

Memorial up charges the patients. Tells them to come back in three months to have more blood work done even though I had no health issues at all. I am in perfect health. I was just wanting to establish a primary care doctor. I asked why? I was told to make sure you are staying healthy. I told her, in three months I will still be healthy. I had an xray done and the doctor couldn't read it herself. She had to have another doctor read it for another $250. Now, the final straw. For 8 years United Health Care has been telling me to have a colonoscopy. It is covered by my insurance. I get a doctor in network but I received a bill from ******* ********** ******* PA for $658. Seems they neglected to tell me that ******* ********** ******* PA IS NOT IN MY NETWORK! No one bothered to tell me that. At one point I tried to get a different doctor to do the colonoscopy but my referral was denied because the previous year I had scheduled one but had to cancel. I just found out that Memorial hospital is owned by the city of Gulfport.

Memorial charges are reviewed by coders who follow CMS/AMA guidelines that must be met. Providers may ask patients to come back to monitor specific issues. All insurance payors prefer this treatment plan to catch conditions upfront instead of the patient ending up in an expensive hospital stay. Our providers and facility are actually graded by insurances on this type of planning. It is common practice to have a Radiologist read any type of radiology test as they are more specialized in this area. I will follow up with her surgery center to ensure they are notifying patients of the outside Anesthesia group which bills separately.
