I opened a checking account with ********************** ********** ** locations a few days ago. The associate pitched a Platinum Checking account, which according to her, pays an interest rate of 5.5% on up to $25k, if certain requirements are met monthly. Those requirements, as she stated them, were ********************************** any amount, a balance of no more than $25k, and no requirement for monthly direct deposits. There is a $10 per month account service fee which is waived if the requirement are met. I was given no documentation which actually stated those specific requirements and in searching Bank plus online, I can't find any references or information about this type of checking account. After setting up my online account and reviewing the checking account, I found in the details section of the account that the interest rate is only 0.05%, not the 5.5% that she quoted. I'm not sure, but I believe that I may have been lied to. Has anyone else experienced this or been offered this type of account and if so, what has been the outcome?

I'm only giving one star because it's the lowest available rating. To give a background, I have been working in the banking industry for 7 years now with 2 different banks and a number of different positions. I am very good at what I do and I have a lot of knowledge in different areas. I applied to a position with this company and I got a call pretty quickly to do a phone screening with HR. She told me toward the end that they would do a credit check for things like bankruptcies, collections, etc. I knew that there would be collections on my history since I have had a lot of medical issues in the past few years and I am slowly working to pay off doctor and hospital bills. I also knew there would be a repossession of a vehicle from years ago but I was never told what the "limit" was or anything. Long story short they denied me to move forward with the interview process for those reasons. As I already stated, I have worked in the banking industry for 7 years and have never had to undergo a credit check. Yes I have made mistakes in my past but the fact that they would deny me an INTERVIEW based solely off of my past financial issues is DISCRIMINATION and is unacceptable. Please do not make the same mistake I did. Stay away from this company. I would never want to be a part of an organization that discriminates against anyone.

To start- This is a review of the Clinton MS location. The BBB website did not offer that as a choice. On 5/28 I had to assume responsibility for my elderly neighbors. Due to a series of events involving their long term care, I went to the bank to discuss what I needed in order to pay bills on their behalf since they no longer could.. They let me know I would need a POA. I had a notarized POA to them within the week. They then told me the elder would need to bring it in, I again explained they had been placed in a nursing facility due to a fall that caused an injury and they could not physically come to the bank (hence the POA). I was then told they wanted a letter from their attending physician. Again,I provided that letter with a couple days signed by the nursing home doctor. After submitting that, they told me "we need to speak to them (the elder account holders) on the phone for verbal approval", I went to the nursing home, they called and spoke to the bank person giving their approval for the nineteenth time. The next day or so the same bank person called me and said they still will not honor the POA, that if anything needed to be paid I would have to come up there with an invoice and get a cashiers check, which I'm sure they'll get charged for. I was early on able to sit with the account holders and pay some bills online with them in person but the bank cut off their cards so now they don't even have access to that. On top of everything , the bank refuses to let me know the balances of the account so I can budget for nursing home expenses, bills etc. Essentially they have frozen their account against the will of the account holders. The elders are upset that this has been such an ordeal and that they will lose their home and of course this affects our limitations trying to file medicaid. Because of all of this, I have had to retain a lawyer to take further action. I would never put a dime in Bankplus of my own and I pray no one else has to go through it.
