First Citizens Bank absorbed *** **** Bank. In all of the paperwork they sent leading up to the 7/18/2022 event, there was nowhere that I could find any information on interest rates for the new accounts. Given that the interest rate on my new account became 0% (down from the 5% I was making at *** ****), it appears to me that interest rate info was left out purposely. Hiding this important aspect of a change to an account is an immoral way of doing business. Additionally, closing the account over the phone results in a $10 service fee. Even after talking to a supervisor, this fee would still not be waived for a customer whose contract had been with *** **** Bank and who had not chosen to bank with First Citizens Bank. First Citizens Bank failed in their execution of the transfer of *** **** Bank accounts and their treatment of the new customers they acquired through the absorption of that bank. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Customer service and empathy have never been more critical than it is in 2022. I am one of countless numbers struggling to navigate this treacherous economic climate, and was faced with the reality that I needed the support of my family. I moved back to Ohio for my family's support, and made an attempt to close my First Citizen's account. My phone number had been changed, yet I knew all security answers and relavant information. What I did NOT know is that $12 per month was being deducted from my balance due to an insufficient balance. My first attempt with customer service provided NO solutions. My second attempt provided the option to submit a request in writing, which was done that same day. I received my check today in an unsealed envelope. In addition, another $12 had been deducted. In all, $24 was deducted due to my inability to return to North Carolina to close the account in person and the fact that I no longer had the same phone number. Had my balance been hundreds of dollars, $24 might not be noticed as much. Instead, I moved to Ohio with a little over $100, no job, and the need to move in with family. When my check arrived today, it was for $73. Evidently, First Citizen Bank's concern with the economy is limited to the profits they receive at the cost of their customers.

A cable co called W.O.W., who does not even service this area which is Winston Salem NC WITHDREW $ 450.00 out of my account on June 13th. My actual cable co withdrew their money a few days prior. I called W.O.W. and they do not know me as I do not know them. I called my bank on June 15th and was directed to the dispute department. I called the dispute department again on June 22nd and was told it is now the 30th, and if I do not see my money in my account it could take 4 MONTHS. I checked my account today and nothing. July 4th is Monday so no business then. THIS IS A FRAUDULENT TRANSACTION ON MY ACCOUNT and they are treating me like the criminal !! I WANT MY MONEY BACK ! I have been their customer for 21 years and I AM OFFENDED how they are treating this and me. My next stop is the Attorney General. I will make a police report and proceed from there to get MY MONEY BACK !!
