Ed was hired as a subcontractor and I subsequently hired him for a couple small jobs in addition. For whatever reason, Ed would never arrive on the scheduled day/time and would only arrive a day (or more) later after an argument. His excuse isn't always "I was busy". I've been dealing with this pattern of behavior for nearly 5 months before I got sick of it and fired him, jobs STILL not complete. He's antagonistic, rude and the one thing he did finish, he did incorrectly (irrigation system pipe blew out of its fitting immediately). The inspector ordered him to add a brace to the pipes which he still hadn't done. He left the sewer pipe uncapped when he left leaving the house exposed to sewer gas, a point the inspector mentioned as sloppy (I'd argue it may have been done intentionally knowing how he likes to antagonize). "I'm a one-man show" is an excuse he likes to use. Sure seems like any decent plumber should be able to finish a bathroom in under 5 months, not to mention being professional and arriving on-time. I've lost income rescheduling clients around him, only to have him not arrive until the following day where all my appointments were moved! This shows a tremendous lack of respect for peoples' time. Working with him was so unpleasant, he was just fired from doing any and all work for me, personally, as well as with my contractor. He's now left my contractor in a lurch as well and affected his reputation while he was at it. I don't know why Ed is like this, but I'd pick anyone else and save yourself a lot of potential hassle, arguments and lost income. The best part is he told me he was irritated I wasted his time.
