On April 16th 2020 I won a hot water heater from ******** ******* *******. It was advertised as gas. There were others up for auction at the same thim advertised as LP (liquid propane) when I picked it up I realized the heater I won was LP. I brought it home and called ******** Auction and talked to Russ. I explained the story to him and he basically said They are not responsible for the advertising. When I wasn’t satisfied with that he hung up on me. He has blocked my calls and won’t answer my emails. I made a complaint to the BBB. He apparently didn’t appreciate that and left a review with hibid that doesn’t let me bid on any of their auctions. I called hibid to find out why this was happening and was told that ******** ******* ******* says I picked up the item and didn’t pay for it. That is not true and I sent the proof to Hibid. As I write this I am still not allowed to bid on any Hibid auctions because of this lie.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out through the Better Business Bureau. We sincerely regret any frustration you have experienced and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
We would like to clarify that HiBid serves as a technology platform that connects bidders with independent auction houses. As the software provider, we do not own, operate, or control the inventory or listings posted by auctioneers. Each auction house, including ******** ******* *******, is solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings, as well as handling payments, customer service, and disputes related to their auctions.
In your case, we understand there are disagreements with ******** ******* ******* regarding the advertised item and subsequent communication. We want to assure you that HiBid’s role is to facilitate a platform where auctions are conducted, but we do not have the authority to mediate disputes between bidders and auctioneers.
While we understand that communication with ******** ******* ******* has been challenging, we recommend continuing to reach out to resolve any discrepancies directly, as they are ultimately responsible for listing accuracy and auction terms.
Our goal is to provide a fair and transparent platform for all users. If you have additional concerns or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our support team and we can continue to try and help you resolve this issue.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We are committed to doing what we can within our platform’s capabilities to assist you.

Thank you for your continued feedback. We understand your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to clarify HiBid’s role in this matter.
We understand that you feel the review left by ******** ******* ******* on your account is inaccurate. Our records show that our team has reviewed the situation, and the seller’s restrictions were placed due to their belief that you threatened chargebacks and litigation. While sellers have the right to manage their bidder lists, we acknowledge your frustration with this outcome and have offered to facilitate communication between you and ******** ******* ******* to help resolve this matter. Unfortunately, it appears that communication between you and the seller has broken down.
We regret that this experience has caused frustration and inconvenience. HiBid remains committed to providing a fair and transparent platform for all users, and we will continue to do our best to assist you within our scope of operations. Unfortunately we cannot issue you a refund or an exchange because we were not involved in the transaction of funds or goods.

I am rejecting this response because: I am not asking for a refund or exchange. Im asking to get reinstated to bid at hibid. I never threatened litigation or anything else to ******** ********. I did file a complaint with BBB because they refused to take my calls or answer my emails. They’re complaint about me is totally false! Why are they allowed to make false accusations? They could do this to anyone without any proof. I have won and paid for items at hibid without any problems even from ********. I just want the false statements removed and allowed to bid.

I bid on two auctions after confirming with the vendor that the items could be shipped to my home in Hawaii and he put in writing that the shipping would be no more than $350 for both electric bikes that I purchased for a total of $976 for the two bikes and then of course the 350 or less for shipping. So I paid for the items and then the vendor told me that the shipping was going to be almost $200 more than he had promised me. I couldn’t afford that so I had to actually pay for the shipping of both bicycles in two payments I had asked for a refund for both or at least one because now the shipping was so much I didn’t have that much in my budget but he refused so I had to pay the astronomical shipping. After paying for shipping for 80×2 for two bikes shipped the first bike, and I got it within the week. I had to wait a month till my next payday and when I paid him for the shipping, he never sent the bike. He kept stalling me, stalling me, refusing to give me back my money, refusing to ship it and finally ceasing to communicate with me at all I’m out $488 plus 260 for shipping. I have called the site and emailed them as well and they do not respond I don’t think these people should be allowed to do business when all they’re doing is scamming peopleBusiness Response

Hello. Thank you for reaching out with your feedback. HiBid is the online auction software that sellers use to power their Auctions. HiBid does not have any of the items being sold and is not involved in the final transaction or shipping. We will start an internal process to reach out to the seller, but we'd encourage you to continue to reach out and work with the seller yourself, as they will be the one who can resolve this issue.Business Response

After thoroughly reviewing your feedback and speaking with the auctioneer involved, we have gathered a detailed account of the situation.
The auctioneer acknowledges that he provided an approximate estimate for shipping. At that time, he estimated the shipping cost to be approximately $350, pending the actual weight of the items. Once he weighed the items, the final shipping cost was higher than initially estimated. Despite this, he applied discounts to reduce the shipping fee to $250 per bike, ensuring he did not profit from shipping costs.
In response to your concerns, he accommodated several requests to reduce costs, including adjusting the taxes, removing handling fees, and allowing extended time for shipping payment without charging storage fees.
Despite these efforts, when the shipping cost was communicated, we understand that dissatisfaction arose, leading to requests for refunds and a demand to honor the original estimate.
The auctioneer worked diligently to accommodate your financial timeline, agreeing to ship one bike upon receiving partial payment, with the understanding that the remaining balance would be settled shortly thereafter. However, after shipping the first bike, there was a significant delay in communication from your side. The auctioneer made efforts to facilitate payment arrangements through alternative methods, including Cash App, at your request. However, your repeated threats of chargebacks created a challenging environment, leaving the auctioneer concerned about potential disputes.
The auctioneer remains willing to resolve this issue but is understandably hesitant given the previous threats of chargebacks after fulfilling his commitments. He is open to working with you to find a mutually agreeable solution, but he requires assurance that any further transactions will not result in chargebacks or disputes. We hope this resolves your concerns with HiBid, and we'd suggest continuing to work with this seller.

Everyone is missing the point here. It is not about the shipping. I paid the shipping. OK I’m not happy with it because he guaranteed me a specific price in writing and I proved that and he did not honor what he said. He did not say oh it may be more than he said I promise you it will be no more than $350 which is the only reason I agreed to buy the bikes but that’s neither here nor that you’re missing the point it’s not about the shipping costs it’s about the fact that I paid the shipping cost, and he never sent the item. That’s what this is about. I never received my item that I did pay the shipping for outrageous as it was so that is what this complaint is about it is about that I paid for an item. I paid the shipping whether it was outrageous or not is not the point the point is that he never shipped the item even after he received the money I just want my money back because he never gave me the item not because of the shipping the shipping is just another reason I’ll never shop with you people again but the issue here is that I did pay the shipping and I did pay For the bikes and he only sent one I paid for two and I paid shipping for two and I checked myself and I could’ve got it done for less than 350 so for him to say that that was the cheapest he could do and he gave me a discount. No, he didn’t. He only gave me a little bit of a discount about $25 off the total cost. I want the bikes for $400. I paid 976 for the two of them with all of his fees and then I paid the outrageous shipping cost but even then he did not send me the second bike. That is what this is about. I paid $488 for a bike plus $260 to ship it and he never sent it. That is what this is about now I want my money back. I never got my item. The shipping cost is irrelevant at this point. I paid it. He just never sent it so if you guys can call this a close case when I never even received the item I paid for I don’t understand how that is a good answer or a fair resolution.Initial Complaint

I won an auction, lot 298 from ********* ******* ******** I was mailed the incorrect item. I contacted the auction house and they said it would be the shipping company's fault. I contacted the shipping company who said the responsibility was on the auction house. I did continue to receive good communication from both after I sent pictures of the incorrect item and was promised to receive the new/correct item, which I did. However, that item was heavily damaged on arrival. I immediately sent pictures of the damage to the auction house who then said it was the shipping company's fault again. I have been promised a complete refund by both auction house and shipping company. However, I continue to make contact with no monetary adjustment. This transaction was of no fault of my own and I deserve a full refund. I do not like to do this kind of thing but it has been a frustrating process. I should not have to continue to follow up.Business Response

They purposely listed a lower valued vacuum, and gave it a more expensive versions name, and put it in a more expensive versions box. They listed the vacuum as a j7+ which is a $800 vacuum, and put it inside that box. When I picked it up, and got it home and opened it, the vacuum was actually an i5 roomba, which is only about $200. So I completely overpaid for this vacuum, under the impression I was receiving a much more expensive 1. This is false advertising, and forced me to bid more than I actually would have, if I had known what was really inside the box!!! If this is a common practice, they are deceiving people, and this is NOT RIGHT!!! So pictures I sent show they were telling me it was a j7+, and I show the j7+ box. But if you look at the version of the screenshot I took with the roomba app, you will see I was sold an i5 version. Not to mention the vacuum doesn't work, but that's how bidding on items goes. I'm not mad that I have to fix it, I'm VERY upset I was told it was 1 version, when it's actually not. Which means even if the item worked properly, I still overpaid, because I was deceived!!!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:i also had an issue with *** *, but my bank helped me resolve that issue. I am also mentioning ***** **** for bad practices. They are both being brought to your attention, as Hibid isnthe site who allows them to operate on their platform. Ive only had 1 bad experience with *** *, and have not had a problem since. ***** **** is an ongoing issue. They still have not not issued my refund, and have not responded to any emails. This should have been done almost a month ago. So this will not be resolved, nor dropped until something is done about ***** ****.

I am writing to formally complain about my experience with Encore Auctions through *********. I participated in an auction on June 30, 2024, and successfully won an item (Order Number: ******). However, despite being charged for shipping on July 5, 2024, I have yet to receive the item. Today is August 21, 2024, and not only has my item not been delivered, but I also have not received any responses to the three emails I have sent inquiring about the status of my package. It is concerning that there has been no communication from your side, and no refund has been issued for the undelivered item. I am disappointed to find that HiBid.com does not appear to have any mediation or complaint procedures in place, leaving consumers without recourse in situations like this. This lack of accountability raises serious concerns about the trustworthiness and ethics of both HiBid and its vendors.Business Response

Good Afternoon,
We are sorry to hear about your feedback regarding the receipt of an item you won from Encore Auctions. We have reached out to the seller to try and resolve this issue. Our understanding is this item was flagged for pick up, even though you had paid for shipping. They are going to forward this on for review, but said you can call and get an update at the number below. We hope this helps you get your item or find a timely resolution!

Please reach back out to the business that sold you the item with the case number you referenced in your reply. It sounds like there were some issues on their end finalizing your shipment, and you've been in contact with them regarding this. HiBid does not have these items, so this is outside of anything that we can control. You will need to contact them for another update & resolution.Customer Answer

I am rejecting the response because there has been no meaningful progress on my case, despite the fact that Encore Auctions has been aware of the situation for weeks. Multiple attempts have been made to resolve this matter, yet they continue to ignore the basic principles of fair trade. I paid for the item in full, but it has not been shipped, and my emails have gone unanswered.
Even if they realized the item was marked for pickup, there is no reason why they have not either shipped the item or issued a refund by now, which is what I now request and believe I am rightfully owed.
The RCMP has been informed of this situation and has identified Encore Auctions as a potentially fraudulent organization. I feel it is my duty to warn others not to conduct business with Encore Auctions or HiBid. Vendors on their platform are able to take money without fulfilling their obligations and face no repercussions, leaving customers like myself without recourse. It has been 68 days, and I am still without the product or a refund, despite Encore being fully aware of the situation.
Sincerely,
**** ********

The bid on all the new e bikes from ************** is $300 starting reserve price. Same guy bids $300 on all of them. There will be times that I bid 310 and it says I am winning. These bikes are worth thousands so even though im winning I will raise my bid to a much higher amount, in this example let's say I bid 1000. It will keep me as winning bidder for several hours, maybe even whole day at $310. But it never fails sooner or later my highest HIDDEN bid will get beat by $10. Then I will go in and look at all the bids and the person that beat me will only show he bid 1 time. I've done this many times and the result is the same, he only has to bid one time. And what really proves something fishy is going on is the one bid he puts in to beat me by $10 is dated before my bids. This cannot be possible or it would have not shown that I was winning. Look at the photo I sent you of the bidders. And it shows he only bid one time and he bid before my bid. I have about 30 instances of this happening over and over.Business Response

8/16/24 i placed a bid online for a roof cargo carrier. I won the bid for 11$ and drove 30 miles from Lubbock to levelland tx to pick up my purchase. When i arrived to pick up my item they said someone else won that bid for 75$ but if i was willing to pay 75$ instead of the 11$ dollars that i could take it. I advised them that i felt wronged in that transaction and that i had driven from Lubbock specifically for this item to which the responded i could take it for 75$ or leave it. I left the item since i felt they were trying to cheat me but feel this should be made right. Its a 300$ item that was brand new still in box that i rightfully won at auction for 11$Business Response
