1 starScammed my 82-year-old father! Residents Energy LLC came to my father's door and said they were from his current energy company, ***, and asked to see my father's bill. They got his PPL account number and without my father's permission, they switched over to Residents Energy, LLC. Now my parents have to pay fees to discontinue Residents service, even though they changed my parents electric company without their permission. My father signed nothing and never gave consent to be switched. It is awful that: 1. They stated they were from PPL. 2. They scammed an 82 year old! 3. Now there is a fee to cancel. This company needs to be put out of business!Review fromCatherine S

In receipt of Ms. ****** Better Business Bureau (BBB) review, IDT Energy attempted to contact her via telephone and email to address her concerns; however, all attempts were unsuccessful and have not been returned. Prior to receiving Ms. ****** BBB Review, she contacted Residents Energys ******************** on February 27, 2025 to cancel her enrollment. As a result of this request, Ms. ****** enrollment was rescinded; therefore, she will not receive Residents Energys supply services.Regarding Ms. ****** concern about Residents Energy obtaining her debit card information, please be advised that Residents Energy does not collect credit or debit card information. The utility company is responsible for all account billing. Lastly, in an effort to bring resolve to the matter, Residents Energy placed Ms. ****** contact information on its internal marketing suppression list to prevent future marketing from the Company.Review fromElyse R

They are a scam. They lied to my electric and gas companies - claiming that I received a door knock and agreed to switch my suppliers on 1/26/25. I was not home all day and have the video doorbell footage to prove they never came to my house. I had to call them to cancel the switch, open a claim review and then call my suppliers to undo this mess. It also happened to my neighbors. How is this even allowed???? This seems illegal to switch someones provider with billing implications because they know the utility companies dont doublecheck with their customers first to come the switch.Residents Energy LLC

SCAM & POSSIBLE IDENTITY/INFORMATION THEFT! I was signed up for service without my knowledge. I'm familiar with these "energy service providers" that send out sales people who engage in high-pressure sales tactics or just completely lie to get you to switch utility companies. I've had one impersonate ******* & another pretend to be a state program for those experiencing hardship during COVID (very gross behavior...they seem willing to go any length to defraud people). I have generally been able to steer clear, until now. On my most recent bill for 12/6/24 - 1/7/25, Residents Energy LLC was somehow listed as my 3rd party gas & electric provider. I did NOT sign up for their service & have not even encountered a company by this name.I've had run-ins with other scammy "energy service providers", including Major Energy ************, PALMco Energy *********** Energy. I have NEVER switched to services by these companies & have email proof from PSE&G that their attempts to switch my service were cancelled. The most recent attempt was 6/12/24, with prior attempts on 4/6/23 & 1/1/23, so I have no idea how Residents Energy LLC secured my information to switch me to their service between 12/6/24 - 1/7/25. I suspect that one of those other companies rebranded or they sold my information. I'd be interested to hear what their excuse is for how they got my utility *************************** for a service change. I'm sure there's no representative from that company that visited my home around that time (which I can verify using my doorbell camera). Unfortunately, I'm out $61.83 (electric) & $97.13 (gas) in bogus service charges. I notified PSE&G to cancel any further services from Residents Energy LLC on 1/10/25 & hope to never have to deal with this again. It's ridiculous that they are able to get away with these sorts of business practices in the first place.Residents Energy LLC

This company sends out scammers. Had 2 of these guys come to the door saying they had to check the energy rates on our bill, and since they seemed official and claimed to be working with Met-*** I let them. They repeatedly told me they were not selling anything, said we'd automatically recieve a rebate, and had me sign to 'say they'd been here.'I was dumb enough to trust them and let them see my bill and have me sign. When they left I just didn't feel right, so I looked it up and found many similar complaints. This company should be sued and shut down.Luckily I caught what they were up to and was able to cancel with my electric and gas companies. What a bunch of crooks.Residents Energy LLC

They knocked on our door and said that they were going door to door to change our paperwork because the state of ** was raising the price of electricity and they would lock us in to a lower price rate. I asked the woman 3 times if she was with ******* and she lied all 3 times and said yes. She also said that this was a common occurrence on our complex which I found out was another lie. After mumbling through her sales pitch she showed me a piece of paper with the ******* letter head and she asked to see a copy of my last electric bill. She copied my customer number and made me sign a form on her cell phone. She also said something about sending reimbursement gift cards to my email address. I immediately called the customer service number on the pamphlet she provided me and told them to cancel ANY account opened using my information. I also called my actual electric provider and informed them of the situation. This is a disgusting business practice and pretending to be someone you are not is beyond low. How this company allows this is beyond my understanding. They have awful reviews all over the internet so this does not appear to be a rare occurrence. The customer service *** said that she created a early cancellation ticket since the contract that was signed was not on file yet. This will allegedly prevent this new account from being opened so we will see. All in all I am thoroughly disgusted with this company.Residents Energy LLC

First and foremost, Residents Energy appreciates all customer feedback and assures all matters are investigated and corrective action is taken where needed to maintain a positive customer experience. In research of this matter, it was found that Mr. ********* enrolled for service by completing the electronic customer authorization form, which is branded Residents Energy and includes the terms and conditions of service. Mr. ********* later contacted the customer care center to cancel. ******************** is not mandatory and a consumer is able to cancel at any time.Review fromMorgan A

They came to my door posing as verification for the electric company to let us know that the utility was changing. They asked for a billing statement to get the account info, to then file a change of service order to our electric company. This company is a scam, trying to charge higher rates for the same service. If the law was just, they would be prosecuted to the fullest extent for lying to consumers. Please downgrade this company to an F rating; this company is deplorable in their business practices. This is clearly an MLM.Residents Energy LLC

These two men came to my door claiming to be from the electric company checking to see if i was being overcharged for by my providers third party vendor. I instinctively knew that this couldn't be correct because the energy company has all of my information in their system, why would I need a representative to show up and check. I listened and asked questions. They lied and said they were the new vendor for ************. Long story short, despite my gut instincts I was made to believe that they do the rebate portions. NOT ONCE was I informed that this was a separate company that switches your provider over to their company. When I signed, like a fool, I was not shown the contract that they were now clearly giving me to receive services through their company. Yes, I was fooled but this dishonesty and scamming process is WRONG. I need to cancel this contract and given verification of it. I was told I would receive an email shortly with what I signed and the rebate process. These are undercover salesmen, lying to your face and tricking people into contracts. I want my contract VOID and release from any bindings to their services. They are misleading people, and I don't have the time to be taken for a fool when I am a good person working hard for my money and paying my bills. I will seek legal action if this does not get remedied. LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE. BE HONEST WITH YOUR MARKETING. don't fall for this! I even asked if this was anything other than what they were claiming and they assured me they weren't doing anything but making sure the customers were reimbursed. NEVER DID THEY SAY I WAS AGREEING TO SWITCH SERVICE PROVIDERS.Residents Energy LLC
