On 19Jun2024 we received a letter via mail for a demand for payment for 6 toll violations all dated back in 2022. The 6 toll violations were paid for the total actual toll amount and each mailed and dated back to New Jersey EZ-Pass on 08/03/2022. On 08/11/2022, all 6 toll violations checks which were mailed with each corresponding toll violation were processed by EZ-Pass of New Jersey. Now 2 years later a Demand for Payment is being sent with a total of $250 for fees on top of the tolls which were paid.

Hello, I am writing this complaint more than a year later because I was told this was taken care of back in 2021-2022. I just recently went to renew my registration again in 2024 (MD you must renew every two years) and the same situation is coming up again, but this time ** Pass is claiming they can't do anything about it because the situation is from too long ago. In 2021, ** Pass claims I opened an account and signed up for a commuter pass. I did not do this. I called when they charged me $152 for the commuter pass and stated, I don't use tolls enough in ******** to justify signing up for a commuter pass. The person agreed and saw that I had only used the toll road a few times. They said they were handling it on their end and the fee would be forgiven. Now, in 2024, the fee is still there. I called about it and asked what happened because when I went to renew my registration, there were outstanding ** Pass fees that were never mailed to me. I uncovered a few things:1. They mailed the ** pass tickets to the wrong address, one that has not been used in almost 10 years and doesn't match up with my license or my ** Pass Account. I paid the toll fee over the phone when I called about this in May 2024, and asked them to remove the *** Flag of $30. They refused to do so because they don't feel they made an error with the address. I can assure you they did. 2. The representative let me know I also had an outstanding balance of $152 for the commuter pass in 2021-2022. I let her know this was supposed to be handled then. She said because it's a few years later there is nothing she can do. This is unacceptable. They are trying to steal money from me because of an error they made by not removing the commuter pass when I originally called. I am looking for them to remove the *** flag of $30 and also to remove the commuter pass fee from 2021-2022 of $152.

New Jersey E-Z Pass is trying to charge me for tolls that I paid on site, at the toll, on the *********************On Saturday, June 1st and Saturday, June 8th, I drove down the shore to attend two different relatives birthdays, using the ******************** to travel to and from.I paid both tolls with a mix of both dollar bills and coins as I am not an EZ Pass customer, nor do I own an EZ pass transponder. Both my mother and sister were in the car to help with giving me the money for the toll payments in case I did not have enough change sitting in my car door, which I did. Now, on Monday, June 17th, I receive two notices for toll violations:~ One for Saturday, June 1, 2024 ~ Two for Saturday, June 8, 2024 These violations are false as I physically handed the payment to a live person for at least (2) of those (3) tolls. When I tried to call the number provided on the violation form they sent me, I was on the phone for over an hour with no agent picking up to help me.When I tried to dispute the violation online, the site would not allow me to submit the form without attaching a receipt of payment to the dispute. I have never been given a receipt for paying a toll on the *********************I can provide more information if needed, but I do not plan on paying these BOGUS violations and I would like these violations erased, please.Thank you very much.

EZ Pass sent me to collections for a 6 dollar toll. I tried to resolve the issue by paying the toll (on a vehicle that I have an EZ Pass transponder linked to the license plate). They stated that I owed the $50.00 fine as well because it was beyond the 30 day repayment ***** This happens often with EZ Pass. The transponder is not read properly going thru the toll or the transponder is charged and the license plate is not registered (either because its a new vehicle or a new license plate). I have been a customer since 2005. They charge my account $70.00 on a low balance. They have mischarged my account on other tolls associated with vehicles that I do not own. A $50.00 fee is ridiculous on a $6.00 toll. They treat customers poorly and make us beg to have the fee taken off. Meanwhile they precharge us for tolls and up the amount based on our usage. This money is than deducted from the balance and your card is recharged in advance of your usage. I am sure they make money off of the precharges. It is outrageous that I am in collections over a $6.00 charge and it affected my near perfect credit scoore. There should be a limitation to the percentage fee you can charge on a toll while the balance on my account remains in the positive. In the meantime, I have caught fees that are charged to my account, and there is no apology nor reimbursement for the money spent out of my account with an accrual of interest. Absurd. Unethical. Distasteful.

I drove on EZ pass tolls in Feb of 2024 for a single weekend trip. My toll bill totalled $40.01 which was mailed to me. I paid the toll of February 29th 2024 using a discover credit card. I saw the text from discover on my phone confirming the purchase. I later got a reminder to pay in April and I paid it again with discover on April 1st 2024 and got the confirmation of the payment via text from discover. Then, I got a violation from EZ pass with $250 of fees applied saying I never paid. I checked my credit card statements and something fishing happened with the payments. I talked to discover directly and they were not able to provide documentation, but did confirm via text that they had record of the attempted payments and said that discover did fully authorize the payments to EZ Pass, but EZ pass did not accept the payment. I tried to refute the claim with EZ pass using the screenshots of the payment confirmations from discover and they claim that is not sufficient documentation. We have been trying to get a hold of a real person with the BBB and it has gone terribly. We have waited on hold for over an hour multiple times and the customer support was not helpful. I am currently in the process of getting a mortgage and DO NOT want my credit to be impacted. I want to pay the original toll and not the late fees.

$865 was paid to nj Ezpass for tolls they claim went unpaid from 2017. They state the scanner must have not picked up my Ezpass. Now not even a month later they are stating more tolls from 2020 & 2023 are due. This all seems super fishy especially when I have an active Ezpass that is constantly filled with money for tolls.

I spoke with a supervisor name ********. I do remember its a ***** Name. She was extremely rude and condescending. Told me I should pay attention to my finances, and its my fault. The credit card I had on file has a $15000 limit. Its an ***************** The audacity of that woman. What would she know about finances? Im sure she had 2-3 kids by 2-3 different men, and no credit.

On 5/17/24 I received a final toll violation notice from NJ EZPass. I thought this odd as I hadn’t received any prior notices. The letter was dated MARCH 13, 2024. According to the notice, two violation transactions occurred on 1/19/24 involving NJ license plate JUN22C. No photograph of the vehicle or license plate was included in the violation notice. The letter demanded I respond by 3/23/24. This was impossible to do as the respond by date had already passed. This license plate number corresponds to a car that I once owned. I junked this car back in 2012. I no longer have records for this car as I disposed of it 12 years ago. The last time the car had been registered was in 2011. To further complicate matters I neither have an ezpass account nor do I own any ezpass tags. EZPass does not offer an option for someone in my position to respond to a complaint. Since there were no options to respond online via the ezpass website, I sent a letter via **** to EZPass ** *** **** ** *** ***** ******** ** *****. To date I’ve received no reply. I tried calling EZPass several times at ************. I consistently get an automated msg that says EZPass is “experiencing intermittent telephony delays” and that wait time to speak with an agent exceeds 25 minutes. To date I have been unsuccessful in speaking with a human being. I did not incur these toll charges. I do not know how someone acquired the license plates used & I have no way to prove my old car was junked & the plates surrendered. I do not believe it is a reasonable expectation that a person keep records for a car they disposed of 12 years prior. I am writing to ask BBB for assistance in reaching a human being at EZPass and getting this issue resolved. I request from EZPass photos of the car the license plates were attached to at the toll booth & I request the tolls & the administrative charges be waived and that any further collection efforts be stopped. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
