I hired Mr. Shank to paint my front double doors and that the lock was not easily able to push down to open from the outside. There were other handyman services also.
I'd met Mr Shank at a expo at a local casino around a year ago and had kept his card.
I hired him. When he was working on the door (lock and balancing it) he said the lock was beyond repair. He would go to Home Depot to find something comparable. At Home Depot he texted me that he'd discovered it was a Mortice lock (the old lock and hardware were strewn all over dusty dirty cement as there had been a desert storm). Texted he would purchase that part for $89.
He continued what I thought was painting the door and his other paid duties. When I was invited to look at the finished project I saw only the around the door strained. The door itself was filthy from the storm. We'd told him it my not be wood but another agent. He said we were mistaken that he only intended to stain the trim. He agreed to discount me half of his door quote. He assured me he would complete the door hardware and lock when the parts were delivered.
He left the can of stain and all of the pieces of the lock where he'd placed (thrown) them. After many texts he sent a locksmith out assuring no cost to me.
The locksmith validated we needed new lock and hardware.
More time went by. (The handyman texted he spent the day he was to come finish the staining in the ER.) After a few days he texted his mother had passed.
Then it was into the locksmith, then he was out because he's turned it over to his insurance (yes... I'd already paid him).
Then we discovered that the set to replace it (a mortise) costs $1600-$2000. Now he's blocked my son's phone. He's not being truthful about what I have on his texts! The door has not be secure for two months.
I just read another complaint regarding his abandoning another job and that person said he lied in his response to the BBB. He is a person I will never trust again.

Lol. You just admitted you knew the door wasnt wood !! You cant stain plastic. And yes I did block your sons calls and texts because I jave no business with him. My business was with you as the homeowner. And yes I did agree to pay for the locksmith, and never agreed to pay for the hardware. If you would like to attach any screenshots you have of me saying I would pay for the hardware I would LOVE to see them. Your son openly admitted another door guy told you it was a $700 lock and you are trying to take advantage of me having insurance to pull an insurance scam so you dont have to pay for a worn out 15 year old lock !!!

I have multiple screenshots of messages between us which do not validate what you claimed in this response. You were initially making efforts to find parts for the damage lock. Then when you discovered it was a Mortise set (had you known that perhaps you would not have taken it apart) and costly your demeanor changed. I believe you didn't "stay in your lane" and are not qualified to repair of replace these exclusive locks.
The locksmith shared with us many times you told him you would "take care of everything". He was definitely under that impression because of communication between him and you
The comment my son made about the cost was included in a casual conversation between the 3 of us. It stems from the realtor telling us that 5 years ago. Makes sense if each part of the set was $700 five years ago. And now is $800. And whatever the locksmith charges.
Your statements are rude and inflammatory. We had a lengthy primary discussion about the door and how to paint it.

LMAO You need to learn how business works !! Your estimate clearly stated to restain front door and you were told at that time the door could not be done as it is not wood. Pull that up in the security videos that your son wants to threaten me with !!! There was no lengthy talk about 'How' to paint the door. I do not need to be told how to do my job. Keep contradicting yourself as you currently are by now stating that you have known for 5 years that your door lock needed to be replaced. YOU ARE MAKING YOURSELF LOOK WORSE !! By saying that I would hire a locksmith to take care of it is just that, hiring a locksmith ,and NOTHING was ever stated about paying for your hardware. I stated in my first reply here that I would love to see where I said that it would be covered and yet you continue to ramble but not provide proof !! I am now done with this and will not be responding to any of your further slander attempts towards me from you.

Here is your second notice that I we will go into litigation. Your work was egregious; the manner in which you have responded is bullying and untrue. I've shared my platform for the public. The choice of who to trust is theirs. Our journey will continue in a court of law.
