I contracted with atlas debt relief and was told my debts would all be solved quickly due to not owing that much. we went over my monthly rate and how long it would take for everything to be solved in november 2023. we are now in june and only 1 debt has been paid towrards. in May 2024 they charged me extra money and said it was a retainer. i did not authorize this charge and it was never disclosed to me that it would be charged. They will not discuss anything via email and their buisness hours when i try to call no one answers. i want to cancel the whole program and they will not help me to cancel.Initial Complaint

5/23, contracted with Atlas Debt Relief to negotiate settlements for 4 credit cards. Upon calling one, *******'s, I learned they had never been contacted. Just today, all of a sudden a statement, a proposed agreement, dated back to January 24 appears. I took initiative and called *******'s, agreed to pay $270 per mo. Atlas will not remove that debt and continues to include it in my monthly payments. By the way, look at their website; they claim high approval by the Better Business Bureau.Initial Complaint

December 2023 I opened an account with Atlas Debt relief. They have been deducting 422.67 from my account every month. When I try to call I keep getting music playing over and over and no one picks up. I want to close the account and get my money back. I could have paid my own debts by now and now they have me delinquent on all of my accounts. The message on the phone even gives a false website to go to to log in. I want all of my money back from December to 4/26/2024. Andrew P***** is the person who signed me up.Initial Complaint

I was promised this company would negociate with my creditors to lower my credit bills. I had debt of 35, 000.00 it has been 2 years and one account has been settled. The rest have not I have sent 17, 000. I want to end this and ask for a refund Every time I call them they never answer the phone. Please Advise.Initial Complaint

They weren't moving very fast. They settled with ******** for 70 % which I could have done myself. I told them I was canceling with them and was told I had a $4,222.00 balance and it would be refunded, but I am not able to get the refund. I was paying them $845.10 per month. Paid a lump sum to complete my program in February 2024. Since that time I have made over 7 calls to Atlas Debt Relief to get the final creditor payment processed, but no one has been able to proceed with moving this forward. I’ve now incurred additional fees for two additional months of this not being finalized, spent hours on hold, got disconnected today after waiting on hold for an agent and with an agent for over an hour, and still nothing has been accomplished.Initial Complaint

I entered an agreement with this company and I was told that if I cancelled the program I would get my money back within 3 days. It has been 5 weeks as of 4/25/24. Their reasoning for taking so long is because that the previous person did not submit the proper paperwork, this has happened twice already. The last time I was able to speak to them they told me it would take 2 weeks to receive my money. However I spoke to them today 4/25/24 and they told me it would take an additional 7 days to hopefully have my money back. This is the third time they delay returning my money. I believe they are lying and refuse to give me back my money.Business response

BBB received the following response from the customer on behalf of the business: After filing a complaint I received almost an immediate response from them (something that they hadn't done until I filed the complain) explaining that they were going to issue the refund within 7 days, as opposed to the 30 days they had mentioned initially. I received the check yesterday on the 7th day. Clearly they only issued the refund as quick only to avoid any further investigation from BBB.Initial Complaint

I signed up help with my debts. My transactions include total $1410.32. Atlas has has not returned my phone calls or emails. I have tried to cancel my account with them with no success because they are not answering the customer service line. I have been attempting to contact them for 2 weeks with no success. Each email is replied to with an auto-generated email that says I will be contacted in 5-7 business days but I have not received any response. They also say that that they cannot discuss any of this by email.Initial Complaint

I completed my program in mid-February 2024. All debts and associated fees were paid. On February 20, 2024 I requested to close my ****** ******** account and get back MY remaining funds. They proceeded to send a FEE to Atlas Debt Relief for $372.25 on February 26, 2024, but the fee is not tied to a service or a debt. They just took my money. I asked ****** ******** to refund the $372.25, but they said I had to go to Atlas, it was not in their control. I have tried contacting Atlas via email and phone but I am not getting a response. So I am filing a complaint here and with the FTC.Initial Complaint

I signed up with them to consolidate my credit. I started making payments in November of 2023. From then $518.00 has been withdrawn from my account. I tried to follow up today to see the status of my settlement. All the numbers from their website and emails are invalid. This number ###-###-#### plays the same song over and over, no one answers. I tried to modify my bank account number on their website and you just can't. There's no way of canceling or deleting your account or payment. This is a scam. Please stop them from getting anyone else.
