I was looking for some information on line and it charged 1.00 for some information. Unbeknownst to me they started charging me ***** for almost a year and I had never noticed it. Companies like this trick you into getting something for a dollar not knowing you will be charged automatically. Extremely upset when they play these tricks on people. I see all of the same complaints on here about the same exact thing. I wonder how many other people are being charged and them not knowing.Business response

The account was created on 09/20/22 with our $1.00 7-day trial. Upon further review, it appears we did not receive a request to cancel prior to the end of the trial. In that event, your account was automatically renewed to the monthly subscription of $19.99.When signing up for our background reports, the subscription does outline that it will auto-renew until elected to cancel. You can contact us to cancel at any time, and will not be billed for your next billing cycle.
After review, we were unable to bill you for several months and there was no request to cancel. Your account was suspended on 9/08/2023 and you did not receive any additional payment requests.

Paid them $1 to see my car's vin number, and was signed up for a monthly subscription without being asked. I caught it after they charged $22.99. They may have it written somewhere on the website, but it isn't made clear, and they know it isn't made clear.Business response

The account was created on 07/15/24 with our $1.00 7-day trial. Upon further review, it appears we did not receive a request to cancel prior to the end of the trial. In that event, your account was automatically renewed to the monthly subscription of $22.99.When signing up for our background reports, the subscription does outline that it will auto-renew until elected to cancel. You can contact us to cancel at any time, and will not be billed for your next billing cycle.
Please be assured that your account was canceled and you were issued a refund of $22.99. The refund was processed immediately on our end, however, please note that it may take up to 10 days for the refund to reflect on your bank statement depending on your financial institution.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I have been provided with business model explanation behind charging me the monthly subscription fees which does not help. The customer that comes to ********************** for one time $1 VIN check service and singing them for monthly subscription under the "terms and condition" feels like a scam.
I only wanted to use the one time $1 service offering to check my VIN but under the one word of "accept terms and condition" Bumper has added me to the monthly subscription service that I never aware of and never used. I have only used Bumper's $1 service and should only be charged for that. I am simply asking for the full refund of my money for the services Bumper charged me that I never requested/agreed.

$22.99 has been coming out of my PayPal account starting on December 18th and the rest on the 17th of every month without my knowledge after being told it would be a one time purchase of a dollar for 7 days of use. I would like a refund immediately after being weaseled into this and definitely cancel whatever subscription I was roped into.Business response

We completely understand your concerns regarding the subscription with Bumper. I want to thank you for your membership.
I want to clarify that we do offer one time purchase subscriptions for a one time fee of $31.99 + applicable sales tax. Unfortunately, that is not the service you signed up for originally. (Please see attached example)
Our records indicate that you signed up for our $1.00 7 day trial. Upon further review, it appears we did not receive a request to cancel prior to the end of the trial. In that event, your account was automatically renewed to the monthly subscription of $22.99.
When signing up for our background reports, the subscription does outline that it will auto-renew until elected to cancel. You can contact us to cancel at any time, and will not be billed for your next billing cycle. ( Please see attached example)
Please be assured that your account was canceled and you were issued a refund of $91.96. The refund was processed immediately on our end, however, please note that it may take up to 10 days for the refund to reflect on your bank statement depending on your financial institution. Your refund covers transactions from 4/6/2024-7/6/2024. We are unable to refund any earlier transactions from previous billing periods.

You can contact us to cancel at any time, and will not be billed for your next billing cycle.
Your account is now cancelled, as you requested.
There were no other successful charges on your account other than the initial Trial.

I ordered a one time purchase from Bumper to check a VIN number from a car I was interested in buying a few months back, and ever since then Ive been charged $22.99 every month from this company, which I never agreed to, I have no clue how to even login to my apparent account that seems to have been created to cancel this subscription through the website. I used their website to search a VIN for a used Vehicle I was investigating for possibly purchasing. I only chose a 1 time, $5 charge option, but there has been a $25.36 charge every month since that initial 1 time use from 12/23/23. Since they required me to use billing through Applepay for the initial one time use, they have automatically billed me using that Applepay connection every since which I did not become aware of until seeing an email from PayPal that I was automatically billed again today and had been for the last seven months I never agreed to nor did I sign up for a monthly service. I had no idea I was being charged monthly by this business without my knowledge and have not used their service other than the first time.Upon further investigation I found out that they use this deceptive practice of automatically billing you unless you contact them to stop/cancel an automatic subscription.They even make it very hard to find out how to cancel their automatic subscription and then make it hard to navigate their website to cancel it. I was finally able to cancel it today on their automated phone system, but meanwhile I have been charged for a service I did not authorize.Business response
