CIT sent my Form-**** on January 16, ****, via mail. The **** consisted of 3 pages, which were sent in separate envelopes, of which I only received envelopes containing pages 1 and 3. I called CIT Bank on January 18, **** and spoke to ********************* and Supervisor *********************, who told me they had no visibility into why I was missing page 2 because their vendor handles the delivery of ************************************* with locating the missing envelope containing page 2, ********************* suggested I did not open the perforated mail correctly. In speaking to multiple CIT customer service representatives, no one was able to knowledgeably provide insight into why the **** was sent in separate envelopes. I am extremely disappointed by how the bank handles sensitive documents such as the Yearly Form **** by outsourcing it to their vendor, encouraging ID theft. I called CIT again on January 19, **** and spoke to ******* to ask if this was a new practice, and she confirmed it was not. In further unprofessional behavior, ********************* had specifically requested that I contact her on her personal cell phone and not via the CIT Bank customer service line. When we spoke on her personal cell on January 19, ****, it was evident that she did not understand the situation at hand and was attempting to avoid me finding that out.

I opened a savings account on April 2023. I had been using this account as a savings due to the great interest rate, pulling money out each month to pay credit debt. Suddenly, no Nov 30, I got a call saying that there was suspicious ACH activity and that the bank would contact me in an hour with more details since a supervisor was not immediately available. What happened next was that CIT locked me out of my account and placed "under review" without any warning. When I attempted to contact customer service, I was told that they could not tell me anything since the account was locked for them too and that there was no way to contact anyone who could except them sending an email to the fraud department, which they didn't share either. They also told me the "reviews" can take up to 90 days. This is the account I use to make my monthly payments, now CIT has locked me out of all my funds and their cavalier response is to just wait until they contact me. Of course that hour I was told came and went and no one has reached back. Now, it is not like I can still login to the account but just see it locked. No, I am completely logged out so I cannot use any service at all, including reviewing transaction history, statements, secure messages, nothing. What I would expect is that the fraud department or whoever needs to unblock it contacts me, they undo their lock and allow me to withdraw my funds.

Our company has three lease agreements with CIT **************** We have been cross-referencing payments made since origination. The payment history we have access to through our customer portal is different than the one provided by leadership. How does this happen ?We've also noticed that CIT is not itemizing fees paid and accurately applying them. What institution does not provide their customers running balances ? There is a real lack of transparency and a hidden agenda. We want clarification and know that we're not getting taken advantage of - possibly fraudulently.

I've created an HYSA *************** account on ********************. But ever since I transferred $5.1k to the account, I'm having trouble logging in. Getting errors such as ******** found" is giving me a heart attack. No other bank fails on retrieving a customer's information. This happened twice now and it's still not resolved. I think I want to get my money back and close the account.

Sorry, I did say a thing that I didn't mean it and not sure how to edit my response. I don't want them to "close my account". I thought through, considered it for hours and decided I still want to keep CIT Bank for now.

They still have not resolved the mobile application bug, that's failing to grab my data for whatever reason they have, but I'll probably try to sort it out via their customer service.

Thank you ********************, I highly appreciate that you exist and help poor souls that were treated unfairly by the business.

Thank you BBB for accepting this complaint. I opened a high yield online savings with CIT bank a few months ago. No problems making deposits and/or withdrawals. Everything worked as it should for an online virtual banking account. However over this Veterans Day weekend the mobile app logged me out and will not recognize my email as a valid account holder. This is extremely worrisome and scary as I have many thousands of my dollars in CIT savings. I would like the bbb to help mediate a fix for this so that I can extract my funds and shutter my cit account please. Thank you

On 11/3/23 a person called CIT Bank and was able to change my account contact information, including phone number and password, without being able to answer the security questions. Cit Bank did not verify the identity of the caller. The caller was able to change the phone number on my account and password and initial a transfer of money out of my account. The only way that Cit Bank knew or did something about the fraud, was that I called them after seeing an email from the bank about the transfer of funds. When I called they confirmed that someone had called and updated my information without verifying my security questions. Now CIT Bank has locked my account and refuse to give me a timeline on when the issue will be resolved. I have been told multiple times that the fraud department will contact me, which they haven't', but they cannot transfer me to the fraud department. In the meantime, I do not have access to my MONEY that the back put in jeopardy. I would like someone to call me so that I can verify my information and have my account unlocked so that I can get my money out of this unsafe institution as soon as possible.

CIT Bank froze access to my account and apparently closed it without any communication about the reason or a warning - not even an email. I have spent the last three hours on the phone and no one can give me an answer. They will not allow me to talk to anyone on the team that makes these decisions. I have invested my life savings and all my money is tied ** in this bank. I was not given a chance to move some money off the platform before I found I was locked out. I got an email that my bill pay was cancelled and that payee was deleted is how I realized something was wrong. I thought someone had hacked my account at first. I will not be able to pay my bills now and there will likely be late fees. After talking to several agents, I did find out that they will send a check to me on 10/20, but that is 9 days from now. How am I supposed to pay my bills until then. I will also have to find another bank and open an account which will incur even more delays. This is outrageous corporate behavior and not the way to treat a long time customer. CIT did not even give me the courtesy or talking to me and I still have no idea why my account is being closed. I have done nothing wrong and I worked my entire life to build good credit (815) and raise myself out of poverty. I want this company to call me and explain why this is happening at minimum. Honestly, they should pay any late fees that are incurred (hopefully I don't have services cut off) since they did not give me any warning or a chance to move my money to another institution. I was already a victim of fraud earlier this year and lost a lot of money. What I have in CIT bank is all I have left. I have never been treated with such disrespect in all my life. This is a massive customer service failure and should never happen.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The company still has not answered the question of why my account was suspended, frozen and then closed. I think I am due an answer other than the bank has the right after all the stress and hardship the company put me through by freezing all of my cash assets. What is worse, is that according to the referenced section on page 17 of the *** Agreement for Personal Accounts, *** can leave sufficient funds in the account to pay off bill that are in process. The company not only didn't do that, but returned funds that had already been posted to my bill accounts the week before including my utility bill, health insurance and credit card payments. I was without health insurance for days due to this malicious action. CIT bank also held my funds for 10 days before mailing them out which is not in the agreement I singed below and is a clear violation. This caused me unnecessarily scramble to find the funds to pay my bills that had already been paid and the bills coming due and try to beg them not to apply late fees. These decisions and actions created a hardship which was unnecessary and cruel. To then not even give me a reason for all this is unacceptable and a horrendous business practice. It is likely the company just made a mistake and is afraid to admit their mistake, and are now hiding behind a faceless corporate entity. I will never do business with this company again and I will take to social media and review sites to make sure the whole world knows how I was treated by the bank (*** ratings stink by the way). In the *** Way" by **** and ****, **** says, "it takes years to get a customer, and seconds to lose one". Also, one customer who is mistreated usually tells on average a dozen people about the experience. This is just stupid and bad business. I trusted *** with my life savings and bill-paying checking account, and the bank screwed me over for no reason. If CIT bank had concerns, we should have talked about it. This whole experience has been outrageous and I have never been treated this way by a business in my life. I spent 33 years building up a credit score to well over 800 and never been late on a bill or defaulted on anything - I have held up my end of the bargain and then some. This was just a dumb and unprofessional decision made by people who obviously don't know they are doing over there IMO.

      Closing an Account
You, or we, in our sole discretion, *** close your account at any time with or without cause. If we close your
account, we *** send the balance on deposit in your account by ordinary mail to your most recent address
shown on our account records. We ***, but are not required to, allow you to leave on deposit sufficient funds
to cover outstanding items to be paid from your account. If we do allow such funds to remain on deposit, the
terms and conditions of this Agreement will continue until we make a final disbursement from the account. If
we do not allow you to keep any funds on deposit, we are not liable for any loss or damage that *** result
from not honoring any of your items or transactions that are presented or otherwise received after your
account is closed. We *** also report to third parties that we have closed your account. If you request us to
close your account and issue the balance using an official Bank check to you or a designated payee, or to
transfer funds to another financial institution by check or by wire, we *** charge a fee

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The company claims that my personal account matched the activity of a business account without any proof. They have admitted that they found nothing to conclude that was the case. However, they went ahead and closed my account anyway without cause. While I appreciate they took the feedback about creating a hardship by freezing my only checking account and savings account for 10 days and returning my bills that had already posted, this is not much solace given the impact of their actions, which still have not been justified. I only put $200k of my life savings for 33 years into their bank and trusted them with my checking account. I got rewarded by being summarily dismissed for my troubles. NOT A FAN!

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

This bank held a loan we had on a truck we purchased. Truck was sold, loan was paid in full, lien was released along with the title. Fast forward 2 1/2YEARS and now we are being constantly harrassed for more money! ON A LOAN THAT WAS PAID IN FULL! We have provided proof, we have told them not to contact us, we have informed them the loan was paid in full and yet they WILL NOT STOP. Conveniently, this all started once they changed names or merged with First Citizens or whatever happened. This is harassment, deceptive billing and fraud.

I applied online today at CIT Bank website. Unfortunately, I had not seen the negative reviews online from people who had the same experience. After entering all my personal information into the online application, I was immediately denied with no explanation. I am now concerned about identity theft.
