      Shady and unethical. Do not trust American Express! I have been with them since ****. Always pay on time and now they are accusing me of fake charges to earn more points!!!!

      Purchased multiple gift cards from this company. When given to my employees they went to use BRAND NEW UNOPENED ENVELOPES that we purchased and the balance on the account was not what we purchased. The card number was somehow stolen and Amex would do nothing about it. Over $1500 in lost money from gift cards that they would do nothing about. Will never buy gift cards from them again.

      Misleading advertising for their rewards program and useless customer support. They clawed back the $300 reward they gave me because I closed my account in less than a year. You have to keep your account open at least a year but this requirement is buried in the fine print. I closed my account because their service is awful. I want to share this so others know what to look for and frankly, there are other options out there.

      I closed my credit card with them years ago and discovered that they were still auto debiting their annual fee from my checking for 2 years. I placed a stop payment on my checking account and called AMX to again close my account and also for a refund. I was told they would close my account and they would open an investigation for the refund. They never closed my account because I would receive notifications that I owed them money when the auto debit which I stopped wouldn't go through. 2 more times I spoke with service rep to close the account and also request a refund. Now I am asking for 4 annual fees since I closed my account years ago. They never took care of it despite saying they would fix it. In the end they threw me into collections. Not only did I pay 4 annual fees for a card I no longer used they also damaged my credit. I will never do business with them again.

      I got robbed by AMEX so sharing this experience so you don't have to.When you try to open an AMEX banking account and if you try to deposit the money from the same bank you use for credit card payment, it is likely your payment will be denied and AMEX will use this as an excuse to charge you a payment fee.Even though this is completely AMEX's fault, they will not refund you the fee and say it is the bank to blame.

      Horrible. Flagged for fraud twice in 5 days and after uploading the front and back of my license and having the flag removed, declined again. American Express never contacted me about the card being shut down yet again but requested that I send them a selfie while holding my license. Ive never heard of such a thing.

      I have spent millions on my American express accounts for my business and have their top of the line cards like the platinum card. They lie to get you to sign up by telling you false statements about their dispute policy and buyer protection. I purchased 6 figures worth of product for my business and the vendor was a scammer that left his business with customers left empty handed with no product or refund. American express 6 months later took back the won dispute money from me and broke their own dispute/ buyer protection policy. Beware that they so not adhere to their own policies and will not protect you as the card claims to do. Shame on American express, you will be hearing from lawyers because I am not the only one effected

      An agent with American Express chat said “ We can certainly use the 200$ Airline Fee Credit for the seat upgrades from Basic Economy to Economy and it will cost exactly 198.00$, which the credit will go through as a Statement credit after booking and can take up to 90 days. I understand that you are very concerned with the site's clarification on benefit eligibility and credits, but I can assure you that it does not have these errors often. am very sorry that you were misled by the site when booking a hotel. Do you want to go through with the seat upgrade?” when asking about using the $200 airline credit. I went ahead and had the agent make the change. I have now gone back and forth in the chat with multiple different agents lying to get me off the chat, including agents ending the chats on me. It has been a month now. I have wasted hours of my time communicating with amex on behalf of an error their agent made. Well over 48 hours ago I was promised the manual credit within 24-48 hours. It’s still not there. Now they’re advising 5 business days. To which I’m sure in 5 business days it will not be posted and I again will be given the run around. For the 695 annual fee this is absurd. I have never had any issue even remotely close to this with *****. I guess there is a reason I’ve been loyal to them and their business.

      I'm leaving a real nightmare with Amex since 10/28/2022 - I wrongly choose an canceled bank account saved in the app to make a payment of $2.5k and as it was returned (aka bank account was closed) I have created a full dossier, wrote letter explaining in detail, submitted online uploading and for last one of the agents told me that Amex is charging me for this returned check that I was credit to my account, HOWEVER when I downloaded the statement and just used simple math I still find a mistake that they won't admit and keeping making this situation so painful for me. Not forgetting that my limit was reduced because of all that and is impossible to talk to someone that really knows what they are doing! Not even the written letter I sent to them I received no feedback whatsoever! The online agents don't get me wrong but they are nor prepared to deal with delicate matters like this, or if they at least receive appropriate training when it comes to this. My guess is that they have never send my complain to a manager or a real credit specialist that can clearly see that they are making a huge mistake and on top of that are causing me a lot of stress, anxiety and depression with all this situation!I hope this review get someone's attention @Amex and they actually DO SOMETHING!!!

      They promised full refund with in 10 days. After another 5 hrs on hold no resolve. E mail states I will have refund with in 10 days. This is a lie
