I have ******** and Healthplex through Emblem Health, and every time I search for a dentist on Healthplex that in theory accepts my insurance, I call them and they say they don't accept it. It should not be this difficult to find care. Stop false advertising as if there are so many providers accepting your coverage.UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM WITH THE CORRECT PROVIDERS!!!!!!!Initial Complaint

I have health insurance through ********** blue shield blue choice option. The dental is provided through dental Healthplex. I called to receive a list of dental providers (I need a teeth cleaning) and every single provider on the list did not accept my health plan. (One was for children only, which I am an adult so that was not helpful either) This list was provided FROM MY HEALTHPLAN. When I called to let the health plan know to update their list, they passed the blame to ********** , and when I called ********** they passed the blame to Healthplex. Im not sure how they are able to sell insurance or provide insurance and have no active providers. I checked various zip codes for providers and had the exact same issue. Provider has no endodontist available in network to provide necessary and timely treatment for covered child despite service being covered. Supervisors do not return calls. Supervisors **************** will be negotiated out of network, but then do not follow through on promises made or return calls. This has placed the patient at risk of further damage and medical treatment due to delays.Initial Complaint

Dates 12/1/23 and 12/5/23 Went into dentist Friday 12/1/23 for severe pain by wisdom tooth that had just came in past yearthey did X-rays and told me my wisdom tooth impacted my back molar and they both needed to be removed asap. They gave me antibiotics and ibuprofen to take to help if there was an infection. By Monday my entire face into my eye was in severe pain, I couldnt even function, I called into work all weekend. Went back to dentist to who sent me to oral surgeon and they did the emergency dental work same day. I had to have both teeth removed asap. I submitted to insurance because I paid out of pocket and the insurance states that they DO cover out of network emergency dental. They immediately emailed me back, rude and told me I went to out of network provider and will not be reimbursed and to look at in network provider list on websiteI have in network dentist, and this was an emergency that effected my entire being. My mom sat and called the list of providers they told me to call and none take the insurance or accept new patients. This insurance is a scam and doesnt cover anything. *** should be appalled that this is what theyre offering people. Its Christmas time and I am barely surviving as is from having to pay for this emergency out of pocket when it should be covered. I will be seeking a lawyer and filing against them. Its unfair and cruel for this insurance to say they have providers and cover emergencies etc when they dont do anything for anyone. Theyre no help. Have not one dentist who takes the insurance, what are people supposed to do in dental emergencies??Customer Answer

I tried applying for dental insurance for my girlfriend online thru Healthplex; however, the website stated there was an error and that the application did not go through. A few months later, I noticed that I had 7 charges of $17.47 (3 on June 5th, 2 on July 4th, and 2 on August 4th) for dental insurance that my girlfriend never received coverage. I contacted Healthplex billing department directly and they stated they would give a refund yet I never got one and now they will not reply back. I had to close my credit card account because I was informed that they kept trying to charge my card multiple times. I want a full refund of the 7 times they charged me for insurance that was never provided.Initial Complaint

I called Healthplex on October 27, 2022 about a their denial of my periodontal services. Six months later the matter was finally resolved with them realizing that they had made a error in denying my periodontal services, so I lost a year of services and now my condition is worse and for me to get all my dental problems solved I have to pay out of pocket or wait until next year to complete the work that needed to be done. In 2021, when I was 17yrs old my mother and I went to a dentist that was part of my Healthplex plan. My mom said I needed my wisdom teeth out. We only went because of my wisdom teeth but they said I have to see the Dentist first and then the Dentist said I needed a Root Canal with a ***************** My mom told the Dentist that she thinks we should get my wisdom out first because the tooth the dentist claimed that needed a root canal was right next to one of my wisdom teeth but the Dentist insisted the root canal be done immediately. I had the root canal done in September of 2021, it was a very painful experience and then the crown was placed on in November 2021 and that was a worse experience than the root canal. The dentist was supposed to have the crown made and it did not fit even after several adjustments, it seemed that he was very frustrated and he kept trying to force it on so hard that it brought me to tears, he then forced the crown on so hard pushing in my mouth that I heard a crunch sound in my ear, my bite was still not right so the Dentist decided to shave the Brand New Crown down to the metal, then he just left to work on the next patient. As my mom and I were getting ready to leave I told my mom and the Dental Assistant about the pain, explained my tears and the sound I heard in my ear. The Dental Assistant seemed concerned and wanted to take another x-ray when the Dentist came back in he seemed annoyed. No one said they saw anything concerning, so we left. After that I still had the pain that the dentist claimed was from the tooth that needed a root canal but I think my mom was right it was from my wisdom teeth. Not long after that I had a new pain from the Tooth that had the root canal & crown. My whole face hurts, it causes me headaches, my bite was never even, the crown was never on correctly leaving a gap for bacteria and I think I now have a another infection in it but Healthplex Denies me Retreatment and I am left in Pain. The complaint was about Healthplex. Yes there was also a complaint against the Dentist but Healthplex refused to allow the work on my tooth to repair what the work that the Dentist did not do correctly and caused my tooth to have an opening between the crown and tootb for bacteria. So I need Re-Treatment of a Root Canal with Crown on Tooth #** to repair the tooth because the bad dental work previously done that cause me to get an infection because of the tooth not being crowned right as well as my bite has never correct and the crown was shaved down to the metal the day it was 1st put on. Another Dentist put in a referral but Healthplex has Denied my claim to get the Tooth Retreated. Healthplex basicly said I dont need the tooth but its a Dentist in their Network that cause the Bad Dental Work that caused things to get to this point.
Also Please Remove my Name if this will be pilublic as my family and I are victims and have relocated for our safety. Thank You.

Healthplex provided an approved prior authorization for implementation of a bridge in my mouth. All prep work was done, pulling teeth, root canals, shaving of perfectly good teeth, etc. During this time, the approval expired and upon resubmission, it was denied. No one can answer why it was approved in the first place if the denial is being upheld. This is an unfair, underhanded, manipulative process and no one can give me a straight answer. If it was once approved, my coverage has not changed, how can it suddenly be denied?Initial Complaint

I have been trying to find a dentist, endodontist and oral surgeon for over 2 years. I have called healthplex multiple times and have been told to use their website to find a doctor. When I called the numbers from those lists, I was told nobody accepted it. I have been fighting so long that one of my teeth have fallen out already. I have had this infection for over 2 years. I have called **** near every dental practice in ** and have not been able to get help. I sincerely need services. I need an apico, 4 root canals and I have multiple impacted teeth. I can't even get them to return my call. PLEASE HELP ME. It has affected my life tremendously. I can't eat anything, I can't get up and walk around, the pain truly is that bad. I can't even read to my kid because my mouth kills me to talk. I also haven't been able to teach her (we homeschool) due to this.Customer Answer

healthplex offers ** dental insurance through *** ************************. I called customer service # at 1 pm on wednesday aug 31, 2022, and just put through to a hold line for an hour - and counting. No information given as to length of expected hold, or any better time to call, just same music over and over.i'm calling because my request for benefits for service outside of the *** resulted in an explanation of benefits that is incomprehensible and contradicts itself.among the worst "service"lines ever...
